Information About Joanne:

Personal Description:

My name is Joanne I am a qualified actor and performer with a wide range of knowledge in the theatre arts, including teaching, media, recording, writing and producing in all performance fields. I am painter, with a great interest in acrylic abstract artwork.

Teaching Experience:

After completing my degree in Performance and Media art I worked for over a year as a SEN Teaching Assistant, assisting children aged 11-16 years on a one to one basis and in the classroom. The aim was to ensure all children of all capabilities had a good understanding and development of ICT, Literacy and Numeracy. I then spent some time working for an international pre-school company teaching parent and child activity classes for children aged 0-6 years of age. This involved writing lesson plans from designed programs and delivering them as 1 hour classes. I am now a Drama Supply teacher working in the South Yorkshire area on long term cover in secondary schools teaching children aged 11-16 years (key stages 3 and 4). This involves teaching drama classes with around 25 students in. To complete this to the best of my ability I write and research my own lesson plans to ensure that all children are getting as much as they can from there drama classes. I am also a Supply Drama Instructor for a Nation Wide Stage School teaching children aged 4-16 years, drama and performance classes. I have also taught in several Summer Schools both by local authorities and private companies.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that drama is a excellent tool to encourage children to be confident and outgoing and is a learning way through to adulthood.
I always encourage children to express themselves through the media of performance as it is a controlled environment.
I am firm but fair tutor, but my main focus is always on the student and what they need and wish to accomplish through their tutoring sessions.
I set acheivable goals for students based on their individual talents and limitations.
