Personal Description:
I'm German with a (German) M.A. in English, French and Russian. I've been living in the UK since 2002. I've always wanted to become a teacher and started studying on a teacher training course for languages in Germany. When I moved to the UK, I worked in publishing and marketing for German and French companies and taught German and French in the evenings. Since the birth of my son in 2006, I've been working as a self-employed tutor and translator for German and French. My pupils so far range from 5-year-olds to 75-year-olds.
Teaching Experience:
Since the age of 20, I've been teaching languages. I started supplementing my income teaching English and French in Germany while I was a student. When I moved to the UK in 2002, I taught mainly German and French as a private tutor. I've always taught different age groups, i.e. pupils who need language tuition for school, professionals who need a language for work as well as people who just want to learn a language to go on holiday. In the last few years, due to an increasing demand for business German, I have started to move more and more into the corporate environment. I have taught classes in businesses in the Midlands and clients have included/ still include Flybe, KPMG, BMW, WEBASTO, SAF Holland, B. Mason and others.

Tutoring Approach:
Over the years I have accumulated a vast amount of teaching materials and am constantly adding to the collection. I tend to design lessons for each pupil individually, using course books, the internet, CDs, magazines, books etc. Every pupil is different and struggles with different aspects of language learning. The content of the lessons will very much depend on the company's area of expertise and the field a particular pupil might be in. A CEO or sales director's needs will differ significantly from a welder's or technician's. Above all, lessons need to be fun, as you'll be much better motivated to learn if you're enjoying yourself. The daily business life is stressful and learning a language is not an easy task at the best of times. There is no such thing as learning a language quickly and the more time you spend in a German-speaking country the quicker your progress. Having said that, anyone can get a basic understanding of the language or become confident at ordering in a restaurant or booking a hotel room.
