Samia - Kingston upon Thames tutor
Information About Samia:
Personal Description:
I am a Biomedical Science graduate currently pursuing my PGCE (postgraduate certificate in education) in Secondary Science and A-level Biology. I have been teaching since I finished my A-levels having an experience of over 4 years. I am currently situated in Kingston-Upon-Thames in the Surrey area and am willing to travel anywhere in London, Kingston and it's surrounding areas. Teaching is my passion and I could not imagine a better career.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching since completing my A-levels, starting with private one to one students which led me to teach in private academies and institutions. After graduating I pursued my teaching career in doing PGCE which allowed me to teach in two different secondary state schools where I have gained invaluable experience as a teacher. As well as having taught in schools I now teach part-time at a private institution called the Oxbridge centre where I teach groups as well as one to one students of KS1-4 and A-level Biology. My students come from various backgrounds of study of Key Stage 1-5 ranging from private schools like Wimbledon High and King's college, to state and grammar schools like Tiffin and Sutton high. My other areas of expertise also include Food-Science A-level and Maths KS1-3. I am proud to say that the progress my tutees have made since they have been under my tutelage has been remarkable and my determination to my students success have always helped them achieve to their fullest potential.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a relaxed way of teaching making the sessions enjoyable and fun for my tutees, so that they look forward to learning. During term times I cover all the school work in the first part of my session and prepare them for any upcoming tests, and the second part of my teaching schedule includes my own lesson plan which makes them ready for future study content for school. This helps them be ahead of the work to be covered at school and builds a strong ground. It also reduces the workload when it comes to revision for exams and doing the course works as they already have covered the content of study. If the tutoring sessions are during summer I prepare my students for next year's work they would be expecting when they join school, so they are ready when it comes to exams and gaining the highest mark, without too much pressure for revision!
The range of resources I use includes my own worksheets and questions, workbooks like Letts and CGP, past papers, doing informative and educational activities like making posters and leaflets and using reliable sources online for information and note-taking.
