Information About Michael:

Personal Description:

I have been a lecturer/tutor for the past 15 years at both university and A Levels. During this time I have also been an A Level examiner, a researcher for the Home Office on the use of strategic intelligence by UK law enforcement agencies, and a consultant lecturer on police cooperation at a European level. I have also had one book published on Europol, which is a European intelligence agency, as well as other academic articles. I have a keen interest in writing, and look forward to the opportunity to do more academic research and writing in the future.

Tutoring Approach:

One of my main aims in tutoring is to stimulate an interest in learning, by making the topic as relevant in contemporary terms as possible. Most of the subjects I tutor, from Politics to Religious Studies have current and on-going social repercussions. I have found that making an other wise dry topic of relevance to a student awakens an interest and desire to learn more. It is those Eureka moments when students become aware of the linkages between what they have read, and what is going on around them that makes tutoring particularly rewarding. This coupled with a growing ability to think critically, usually translates into enhanced exam grades.
