Personal Description:

I am a fully qualified teacher able to teach across a large age range and ability spectrum. I enjoy helping people realise their full potential and become more confident when it comes to learning, and feel I have a wealth of experience in this area. I am passionate about meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures and experiencing new things both through my job, my degree discipline and through travelling to different continents and living abroad for extended periods of time.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked abroad for one year and in the UK for 5 years at a top educational institute delivering ESOL, Literacy and Numeracy courses, incorporating e-learning and teaching computer literacy. I have worked with an age of ranges from five years upwards, and feel am an excellent communicator at all levels. I have prepared students for entrance exams (including 11+) and SATs. I also have experience of delivering the Life in the UK Test and offer specialist tuition in this area (ESOL with Citizenship), working with speakers of Arabic, Chinese, Urdu, Farsi and a whole host of European languages. My subject specialism is Geography, and I currently teach this in a secondary school up to A level.

Tutoring Approach:

When I first meet with learners I do so on a very informal basis to help me determine their current levels of knowledge/ability and do an Initial Assessment (usually paper based except for Speaking and Listening areas) with them. I then discuss their goals and how they feel they are able to learn best. I then tailor a personal learning plan specifically to them incorporating milestones to be achieved in their preferred learning style and within their chosen timescale.
