Anna - Aldgate tutor

Information About Anna:

Personal Description:

Reading and writing, drama and poetry, media and Shakespeare: English is a varied and diverse subject which requires a flexible and creative approach in order to teach the skills required by various exam boards and to not kill any enjoyment we may have for the subject itself. I am a young and enthusiastic tutor with the skills and dedication needed to raise achievement by ensuring that English is both accessible, interesting and fun.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently a teacher of English with experience across all Key Stages including AS/A Level. Prior to this I spent time as a mentor to GCSE students, working in both an academic and a pastoral role to improve attainment.
I have also spent time working in a school in India teaching English as a foreign language, an experience which has broadened my approach to the ways in which English as both subject and language can and perhaps should be taught.

Tutoring Approach:

English is not just being able to read and write; it is also centered in creativity and personal response. Through my role as tutor I aim to work with you to develop both of these general aspects, as well as working towards specific and personal targets which we identify and modify as an ongoing process. The way in which we work to achieve success in these areas is highly personalised; working one-on-one means I can tailor the activities to your preferences and still throw in a few challenges!
