Personal Description:

I am very organised, flexible and extremely hard working and self motivated with over 12 years experience in ancient languages. I am capable of deciphering and analysing many classical texts and have the ability to convey information, no matter how difficult, in a simplistic and understandable manner. I am very creative and a determined free thinker who works to exceptionally high standards with great pride and tireless effort. My interests include reading ancient writings, especially Homer and Virgil, reading, creative writing, playing sport, excelling namely in Football and cricket, watching and studying film and videos, carpentry, and cooking.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching ancient languages to students of all ages and experience for many years. Whether you are a beginner or not, I can help with any form of basic langugae and far more advanced subjects, focusing mainly on ancient authorsand their famous literature. Whether it be Homer's Iliad, Virgil's Georgics, Aristophanes' Wasps and mamy more, I have a deep knowledge and understanding of the ancient world and its inhabitants.

Tutoring Approach:

Having been tutored at a young age, struggling with the ability to comprehend everything in a class of over 25 or 30 people, I was given the necessary attention to allow my academic ability to bloom in a more reassuring environment. I found that in the intimate environment that tutoring offers, I was able to have my questions answered and receive the attention that is rarely possible in the majority of school classrooms. This helped to build my confidence inside and outside of schoolwork and set me in good stead for the remainder of my life, personally and academically. As a tutor myself now, I have found that I can encourage a lot of appeal in the student by simply relating the material to their own interests. Helping a student as a part of their life and development academically is very rewarding and managing to help those with little confidence come through adversity and achieve extremely good exam results is in itself invaluable. Having recently completed a first class BA in Classics, I feel that I am even more prepared to aid students of ancient languages with my fresh and very relaxed approach to tutoring exam/coursework. It is worth understanding that as a tutor, I hold a completely different relationship with the student from that between a teacher and pupil, and will try not only to aid their understanding of the subject matter, but to make it enjoyable and hopefully, help them achieve the development and results they desire.

Qualifications:

• First Class BA in Classics
• A Levels in Latin, French and Ancient Greek
• 10 GCSEs and AO in French
