Information About Robert:

Personal Description:

I am a physics graduate with a postgraduate teaching qualification (PGCE), Windows MCSE and MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer).

Since March 2010, I have been an IT Technical Trainer for various training providers.

Here, I train, coach and assess learners, acting as mentor throughout a year long programme delivering Windows MCITP, CompTIA A+ / N+ vendor exams plus an Advanced Level 3 & 4 IT Apprenticeship.

I maintain my own technical and pastoral skills set and take exams in order to retain industry qualifications. I am externally Ofsted inspected, as I work for a publicly funded organisation and, as such, am regularly observed in accordance with those guidelines.

As of 2015, I have become COLF Certified (on line webinar certification) and, perhaps for the older student, it might be worth noting I'm currently ITIL qualified plus can offer Prince2 Foundation training.

Teaching Experience:

My career has continuously been teaching and training orientated, where my physics and teacher qualifications enabled me to deliver Physics, Maths, IT and English both here and abroad in such places as China ('98), USA (1995) and New Zealand (1994). I have taught A Level Physics as part of full time timetable in both FE college and state school environments as well as numerous private tutorial colleges in Oxford such as Cherwell Tutors (Easter Revision), EF (Summer School), Oxford Tutorial College and CIE, to a range of ages and nationalities.

I have been tutoring Physics, Maths and GSCE Science approximately two days per week after work, for the past four years.

I have also been a Marker for Edexcel for GCE Physics A Level which improved my subject knowledge, giving me a closer insight into the examining process and the standards required for an excellent grade.

I would consider GCSE Science and any of the other subjects mentioned, if asked. In addition, as I am a currently Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), I would be more than happy to tutor IT/Computer Studies to A Level.

Tutoring Approach:

Sessions will be tailored to students' individual needs within a friendly, open and efficient learning environment.

Lessons, resources and questions are pre-planned around my students and I use questioning and relaxed assessment during tutorials to make sure the maximum amount of progress is made.

By finding areas of weakness and gaps in knowledge, students will be lead to their full potential.
