Personal Description:
I have had a lot of experience and sucess in teaching the 3-5, 5-11 and adult curriculum. I enjoy tutoring people to encourage them to expand on their skills.
Teaching Experience:
Completed a BA Educational Studies at the University of Edinburgh. This involved placements in Primary 4, 7, 5/6 and nursery. Whilst at university I was involved in teaching drama and life skills to a youth group. I also worked part time in nurseries following the 3-5 curriculum. Since completing my degree I have worked in a college, teaching adults and young people how to access computing and library services. I am currently trained as an adult literacy tutor, and teach IT skills and health and safety in my workplace.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to audit what is already known and structure a plan that will be followed to expand on the gaps. It is important to build confidence in skills and knowledge that is already present, and engage the learner in something that is meaningful to them.
