Alexandra - Guildford tutor
Information About Alexandra:
Personal Description:
I am an experienced tutor with a passion for helping children to both learn and be fully confident in their individual abilities. I am a Masters graduate with a strong academic background in English Language, English and Scottish Literature and English as a Foreign Language, well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, and a caring and supportive nature. I wish to tutor children and teenagers to allow them to become proficient in English as a school subject at any level, and encourage the less enthusiastic to become excited about reading, writing, essay structure, all types of literature and the English language. I can also effectively assist pupils in preparing for school exams and I am experienced in tutoring examination techniques.
Teaching Experience:
April 2006: Trained in a range of teaching techniques in order to effectively communicate information and ideas to pupils, and to ensure that pupils have comprehended and retained the lesson.
Experienced at putting these strategies into practice by planning and delivering lessons to children of friends and relatives
June 2002 - January 2004: Tutored a GCSE pupil once a week in English in support of her school studies, teaching her how to study literature in its various forms, plan and compose critical essays, answer examination questions effectively, and utilise different styles of writing and grammar.
I am also experienced in informally teaching pre-school children to read, write and communicate their ideas effectively, encouraging confidence and thoughtfulness through creative means.
Tutoring Approach:
To bring learning to life in order to help children reach their full potential, and endeavor to relate to and build a good rapport with pupils to generate a positive, fun and hard-working atmosphere.
I will provide:
Professionally structured and prepared lessons, identifying learning objectives and designing/utilising curriculum-led exercises to help pupils achieve those objectives.
Lessons tailored to the individual pupil's needs/curriculum requirements/parent or teacher's specifications.
An encouraging, supportive and motivational learning environment where I will bring learning to life
