Information About Vera:


Personal Description:

I am a qualified teacher, currently working in London as a year 5 teacher. I have trained and taught both in Canada and the UK.
I am offering tutoring to students in all subjects at the primary level and in English at the secondary level.
My education includes a Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies as well as a Bachelor of Education.
I am available to tutor in the evenings and on weekends and at times over the school holidays. I am able to give children that extra boost in their studies or help them with a particular topic they are having difficulty with.



Teaching Experience:

Teaching grades 4, 7 and 8 in Ontario Canada as as student teacher.
London Supply teacher from nursery - year 6 Oct.-Dec 2005.
Currently teaching Year 5 at Surrey Square Junior School since Dec. 2005



Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring is a wonderful opportunity for a child to work one on one or in a small group to make sure their learning needs are met and the subject is taught to them at their particular level from which they can advance. I believe that learning can occur through direct teaching but also through conversational and practical experiences. Its amazing what a trip to the museum can do! Using various resources and turning learning into challenges and games is a wonderful way to channel a child's learning and enthusiasm.

  • Memeber of the Ontario College of Teachers (Junior Intermediate Level)
  • Currently completing UK Qualified Teaching Standards
