David - Oxford tutor
Information About David:
Personal Description:
I'm a second year law student at Oxford Brookes University. When I'm not married to the library or volunteering with Citizen's Advice, I like spend my time with my housemates and best friends, a few drinks and a decent movie.
I'm dedicated to my studies and training to be a lawyer, so helping people out by sharing my knowledge is going to form a large part of what I do for a living, which is why I want to do exactly that by tutoring alongside my studies.
Teaching Experience:
I don't have any formal teaching experience. However, I have a large amount of experience as a private tutor, particularly for AS and A level law.
I also spend a fair amount of time helping other students on my degree, by explaining concepts that they don't understand, or giving them tips on where and how to find out for themselves.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is flexible. I understand that some people are better at learning raw facts, while others are better at understanding abstract concepts; some people are better at understanding something that's been explained verbally, while others gain a stronger understanding through visual aids.
The approach I take is to attempt to understand the strengths of the person in front of me, and then explain the concepts in a way that plays to those strengths. I am patient, open, and always focussed on assisting understanding, rather than lecturing.
Once I'm sure that a student understands the concepts, I will give then a chance to demonstrate that by means of some sort of exercise. This will enable me to identify any remaining gaps, and also reinforces a student's understanding.
I am available for face-to-face tuition everywhere within the Oxford Ring Road, and for tuition online. Email or call me for details!
It's essential for me to know ahead of time what topic the lesson will be on so I can prepare a lesson plan and exercises. Again, call or email for further details!
