Personal Description:
I am a freelance composer, artist and educator who is committed to sharing my skills and knowledge to support you to fulfil your potential through creative learning experiences. Teaching has always formed a part of my professional working life either in schools, universities or community settings.
I am a successful practising artist and my work has been presented nationally and internationally. I am a director of a local arts organisation that promotes events and runs projects in Birmingham. I have worked in the arts and voluntary sectors in marketing and communications and as a project manager.
I also spent 3 years working as an educational consultant with 18 schools as part of a national government creative learning programme. This involved planning, implementing and evaluating bespoke creative projects, led by artists and designed to meet the specific learning needs of pupils and staff.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching since 1999. I taught music, music technology and composition at undergraduate level in two Universities. I teach creative applications of ICT to children and young people in primary, secondary and SEN schools and other community settings. I have also provided training to teachers, delivered adult workshops and supported adults in their ICT needs.
I provide support in practical home computing skills including: WiFi and home networking set up; software installation; file management and back up; Microsoft Office; internet; email. I am proficient on both Mac and Microsoft PC operating systems.
I also provide specialist support in creative applications of ICT using online, commercial and open source (free) software including:
sound/music technology, composition and production: Sound recording, ProTools, Reaper, Audacity, Garageband, Ableton etc.

online digital media management: YouTube, Vimeo, Soundcloud, Podcasting, Picasa
Film & Video: Adobe Premiere, Movie Maker, iMovie, Final Cut
Digital Image: Digital photography, Photoshop Elements, iPhoto
Please enquire if you have a specific software application you wish to learn as I may have experience using it.
I offer Music Theory teaching up to Grade 5.

I am patient, friendly and fun and always strive to provide a creative, engaging learning environment that is focussed and effective.
My teaching is always adapted to the specific needs of the learner addressing different learning styles and approaches, which I have developed in the course of my career.
