Personal Description:

I am currently a PhD student in Ancient History at the University of Bologna (Italy), and I started three years ago to work as a peer to peer tutor for university students with SEN. I married and moved to London where my wife works, therefore I am looking for a position that allows me to continue to do my job.

Teaching Experience:

I started working with the Office for Disabled Students at the University of Bologna as a tutor in 2008. Their policy is a peer to peer tutoring one, and they provide all tutors with continuous training both in action and in theory. I learnt to support the students and their autonomy in all situations, where communication seemed impossible and patience was a key strength. I started taking them to lessons, and very soon also to study together. The first students I studied with had EBD and Dyslexia. We trained while tutoring, sharing the problems we faced with highly qualified staff and professors working at ODS. I also prepared study materials, mainly for blind people and learned many kind of different format and requirements, while specializing in study methods as part of my training. For the following years I then regularly tutored six students (mainly with psychiatric diseases) and occasionally helped many others, while I started to be involved in organizing trainings and seminars as those held at the Istituto Cavazza. At the end of the first contract I was employed through a National Scheme and then again in 2010-11 as a Specialized Tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

My 15 years long studies in Classics guarantee a widely transversal capacity to convey the subject with passion, with the support of media and all possible resources off and online. Study methods and commitment to reciprocal possible autonomy make it possible to achieve together good results.
