Personal Description:

I am a qualified teacher from the United States specialising in primary education from reception up to 14 years. My specific areas of expertise are in reading, writing and early childhood education. I currently stay at home with my young daughter so can offer flexible tutoring hours.



Teaching Experience:

I was an eighth grade (13-14 year olds) English & Language Arts Teacher at Truman Middle School in Grand Prairie, Texas, in 2005. I taught reading, writing, literary and grammar skills to one hundred students. In 2002-2003, I was a Reading Support Teacher at Milam Elementary School in Grand Prairie, Texas. I taught 7-10 year olds who were one year behind their grade level in reading, and worked with their teachers to help students achieve success in reading at their appropriate level. I also tutored remedial readers at Sylvan Learning Center in Dallas, Texas.



Tutoring Approach:

I take a student centric approach to tutoring, focusing on identifying and meeting individual needs and goals. I relate my teaching to specific developmental requirements, and aim to teach tailored strategies to enable students to become effective self-learners.
