Zhihong - Manchester tutor
Information About Zhihong:
Personal Description:
I am a fifth year medical student studying at the University of Manchester.
I am a friendly individual who interacts well with young people.
I have studied A-levels in Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry, which I enjoy tremondously.
As part my interest in teaching, I have been involved with teaching mandarin at a Chinese school in Manchester, as well as tutoring primary school children basic sciences once a week.
Teaching Experience:
During my A-level year at 6th form college, I taught younger years AS biology and Maths.
- I helped with learning support at 6th form college with children requiring special needs.
- I regularly arrange interactive group teaching sessions for OSCE's (Objective Structured Clinical Examination).
- I have taught year 1 and 2 medical students clinical skills, anatomy, medical biology/chemistry and psychology.
- I have taught numerous prospective medical students interview technique and application writing at medical school open days and interview days.
-I have taught Chinese at Huaxia Chinese School, Manchester.
-I have volunteered to teaching basic science to children at St Patrick's Primary School, Manchester.
Tutoring Approach:
My usual approach to teaching is student orientated. I would usually expect the student to mention topics of weakness and would aim to tackle these simultaneously. I often like to use past papers to guide revision to get the student familiar with common themes and exam technique. I would expect the student to do some light reading around the topic prior to each session, to maximise retention of information during the session. After each session I will provide the student with feedback and use this to guide progress over time. My students have often found this helpful in the past. I like to build a good relationship with my students enabling me to tutor them in a more relaxed manner. I also try to make them feel at ease to ask me questions and explain when they do not understand.
