Information About Amar:
Personal Description:
I am working as an energy and environmental consultant. My background is in quantitative subjects - chemistry, maths, physics etc. I am interested in giving my students valuable knowledge about certain topics such as the environment, carbon emissions, oil and gas. This is something I want to do alongside teaching them core subjects such as maths and physics.
My primary objective is to share my knowledge and help students. Hence, I am priced at a fairly affordable rate. As my motivation is not money, I plan to give some free lessons as the student develops. I would like to have at least 3-4 lessons of 1 hour with the student as I would like to tutor him till the end, rather than leave half way.
I am quite easy going and like to interact with people. Maths is something I believe is a tough but essential subject. Lots of kids don't like it and feel a bit wary of sums. I am passionate about these subjects and hopefully, should be able to instill confidence in tackling difficult concepts in the student.
Teaching Experience:
I have been a research student and have taught University level students.
I have also done some part time coaching in maths with students in the age group (15-18).
Tutoring Approach:
Initially I will try and understand the extent of skills set the student already possesses. Some students are good at memory, whereas some rely more on visual stimulus. So, in the first lesson, I will get into the psyche of the student.
Lesson 2 onwards, will be core skill development and concept practice. Lots of examples and illustrations will be prepared before class, so that the student has something to relate to. Advanced concepts such as Calculus will be dealt with in a methodical way.
A gentle friendly approach, with 2 way communication is key. My work life has been fairly productive and I have picked up key skills in communication and presentation. My delivery style is very subject oriented and hence, there isn't time for the mind to wander off when I am teaching!
