Information About Ben:

Personal Description:

I have a strong track record as a law tutor - I use my exceptional academic ability to help others achieve their best. For example, I helped a King's College student get a first in three subjects of her law degree (all the subjects I taught her), and assisted a GDL tutee to get her highest mark.

I received a distinction in every subject of the Legal Practice Course (barring criminal litigation) and a commendation in the Graduate Diploma in Law. Before that, I studied English Language and Literature at Oxford, obtaining a 2:1. I qualified as a lawyer in September 2017.

I love enthusing people about ideas. I help them find fresh and effective approaches to their studies.

Teaching Experience:

I have two years' experience of tutoring at LLB, GDL and LPC level. I teach all of the core GDL subjects - Equity & Trusts; Contract; Tort; Constitutional and Administrative law; EU law; Criminal; Land. I teach all of the core LPC subjects - Business Law and Practice; Property Law and Practice; Litigation (Civil); and professional legal skills. I also teach Equity Finance/Public Companies; Corporate Finance; Private Acquisitions; and Advanced Commercial Litigation.

I am also willing to learn new topics in order to teach students on subjects outside of the core modules. For example I have supported tutees in the following subjects: - IP law and practice; thesis on executive remuneration; essay on piercing the corporate veil; whether EU competition law relates to a key part of UK infrastructure; the Russian legal system.

Before that, I tutored English Literature and Maths at GCSE, A-Level and University level; but I prefer tutoring law to undergraduates and adults as I know how to help students reach their peak in their studies.

Tutoring Approach:

I make lessons that reward the student. This involves working with the student to develop their strengths and channel their motivations into their studies. As a result, my lessons become personalised and interactive.

Honesty is an important part of tutoring. I always focus on positive feedback; when students need to do more work to achieve their goals I tell them in a constructive manner.
