Information About Michelle:

Personal Description:

My name is Michelle Barnes and I am 28 years old and I was born, raised and received my education in England. Over the last decade my companies employee base has come from many countries from around the world; it is for this reason I became interested in teaching English to foreign students. As I interacted with the employees I found great enjoyment from crossing the language barrier and seeing each employee improve as time went on.
Managing a high sales volume town centre store for 9 years has allowed me to develop my people and teaching skills as a great deal of the work involved training new recruits whose first language was not English. Conducting training exercises, marking work books, testing employees knowledge with exams, setting learning objectives, seeing potential in people and meeting deadlines for promotions, are among my many responsibilities.
Through the Psychology Degree I received from Sheffield Hallam University, whilst working full time, I was able to gain great insight into the language learning process including such modules as cognitive and developmental Psychology, Atypical child development, and Language development in exceptional circumstances: such as autism, and bilingual language development in preschool children. Continuing my interest in teaching English I completed the TEFL 100 hour course and realised I could construct lesson plans which would teach students various aspects of the English language in a fun and relevant way.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent some time in Malta where I provided private tuition for 5 Korean students for about 5 hours a day. I found this very rewarding and would like to continue teaching English as a foreign language as I gain great enjoyment from it.

Tutoring Approach:

As a foreign language teacher I offer commitment, hard work and a strong desire to help students learn English in an energetic fun practical way. I have a caring outgoing personality and find great enjoyment from helping people around me.

It is my dream to teach, as I gain so much personal satisfaction from helping others. I look forward to helping you achieve your goal in a fun and easy way. I have much patience and can suit my teaching round your needs.
