Personal Description:
I have just successfully completed my NQT year and have really enjoyed teaching this year. I believe curiosity is the key to learning and the key to teaching is to evoke curiosity. That is why I try to get my pupils curious about what they are being taught.
Teaching Experience:
During my PGCE, I taught at two different schools, obtaining experience in ksy stage 3, key stage 4 and key stage 5. During the beginning of this year I began as a supply teacher at various schools until October half term. Whilst supplying, I got a feel of teaching other subjects like maths. After October half term, I obtained a full time maternity cover at Urmston Grammar school. During my time spent at Urmston Grammar, I taught across all key stages in biology and taught year 9 chemistry as well as A2 Environmental Science. Next year I will move on to William Hulme's Grammar School to fill the role of teacher of Biology.
Tutoring Approach:
I find it nice to teach in a one on one situation because I can ensure my pupil has understood the material. In the past, I have tutored during lunch periods and after school. I generally discuss the topic at hand using visuals and then follow up with some questions that relate to the topic. Whenever possible, I also use mnemonic device wherever possible because I find things easier to remember that way.
