Personal Description:

I've recently finished my PhD in biochemistry and immunology and am currently seeking research positions. I strongly believe that if a subject can be taught interestingly, anyone can engage and remember it. Different people learn in different ways of course, but as long as you can find the key they can engage.

**Due to a busy tutoring schedule I am now only accepting 90/120 minute sessions.**



Teaching Experience:

I've done quite a bit of informal one-to-one tutoring when I was an undergraduate, and have overseen practical laboratory-based classes as a PhD student, as well as supervising various MSc level students in their research projects.



Tutoring Approach:

As I said above, I'm a big believer in trying to keep the subject interesting and the student engaged. Obviously there are some things which just need to be learned (e.g. chemical equations), but if they can be understood, learning them becomes that much easier. My real aim is therefore to encourage the student to develop an understanding of the subjects, and to learn to think for themselves from that knowledge base.

Qualifications:

  • PhD Bichemistry and Immunology (research into cancer vaccines)
  • MSc Biomedical Science (awarded with commendation) (mixed taught and research)
  • BSc Biology and Business Studies
  • A Levels in Biology, Business Studies and Computing and IT
