Information About Frances:


Personal Description:

My name is Frances McGuigan. I am 50 years of age. Since leaving school in 1975, I have done a variety of jobs, including domestic and care work. I started my teacher training following the completion of my University Degree course in 1995. Before this time I worked mainly as a health care assistant and throughout the duration of my University studies also did a vareity of jobs in the heriage sector. These included working as a room steward at local heritage sites such as: Athelhampton House, Kingston Lacy and Corfe Castle. This work proved invaluable to my later teaching experience as seen in the section below.



Teaching Experience:

From 2005 -2007 I taught local history and Medieval Church history to groups of post 50 adult learners at Bournemouth and Christchurch U3A.

From 2007-2008. I taught English Literacy to groups of adult learners with special needs at 'Headway' Poole and "Hahnamann House" Bournemouth.

From 2008-2009 I taught English Literacy to post 16 adult learners at Wiltshire College, Salisbury.



Tutoring Approach:

I regard myself as a facilitator of learning and take a modern approach to teaching. I use group work where required and use a variety of teaching strategies and resources for one to tutoring.
