Information About Yousif:
Personal Description:
I am a young, friendly and sociable individual with a passion for the sciences. I have a degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering, and am currently studying for a PhD in Computer Science. When I am not studying, I enjoy playing basketball, making music, and cooking.
Teaching Experience:
I have provided GCSE and A-Level tutoring for the children of friends and family since I myself was doing my A-Levels. I was also awarded a level one peer-mentoring award for providing one-on-one academic and personal support for C/D borderline GCSE students with behavioural difficulties. I have also been involved with helping younger children with below-average reading ages to improove their reading skills on a one-to-one basis.
Tutoring Approach:
I aim to be a friendly and approachable tutor, as I think it is vital that tutees feel relaxed and able to ask questions. I tend to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each individual tutee and adjust the teaching style accordingly. I believe strongly in going above and beyond the curriculum (where appropriate), and understanding 'why' rather than 'what'. From my own academic experience, the ability to apply knowledge to unfamiliar situations or problems is much more beneficial in exam situations, and vastly improves the student's understanding. This is something I try to incorporate into my teaching style where possible.
