Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Phoebe, I'm currently a first-year student in Durham University. I study Combined Honours in Social Sciences, namely Philosophy, Politics and Psychology, and I'm an international student from Hong Kong.
I'm looking for tutees who would like to learn/enhance their Cantonese and Mandarin, which are both my first language. Beginner's level is welcome!
I can also offer writing skills tutoring and English for foreign language speakers. I teach the techniques in writing well-structured essays and exam answers...strongly reccommended for GCSEs or A-levels!!
Students who are seeking to learn music theory are also welcome.
This is my first paid tutoring work, but I did have experience in tutoring before.
Teaching Experience:
I am currently a voluntary biology tutor for a local A-level student, and I've also done teachings in Mandarin and English for foreign primary school kids in my previous school.
Tutoring Approach:
I could do tutoring on a wholly online basis - saves time to travel and it is also an effective means of tutoring!
If you are currently studying the subject in school, I can provide help with homework and research, teach you critical skills to revise, and provide recommended references to enhance your study.
If you are entirely fresh with the languages, I could tailor the topics according to your needs.
I would also put an emphasis on learning about the Chinese culture as it is extremely important when learning about the languages.
As for writing skills, I can give feedback to essays written, do regular exercises related to the subject and provide general techniques which are applicable to all writings.
