Louisa - Hatfield tutor
Information About Louisa:
Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher with over 18 years experience across schools and universities within the UK. I have taught science in independent and state schools including a top girls grammar. Prior to this I was a biological sciences lecturer. I hold a PhD in Protein Biochemistry and have worked in the forensic science industry. I have completed postgraduate courses in education in addition to taught degrees, a MSc Forensic Science (2004) and BSc (Hons) University of London - Molecular Biology and Genetics (2003). I have studied Biology Chemistry and Mathematics at A level standard and completed grade 6 in two instruments.
Teaching Experience:
I have had experience teaching at many different levels over the last 15 years.
I am currently head of Biology in an independent school.
I have had experience teaching university students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level both in the classroom and in laboratory classes.
I hold a post graduate teaching certificate at higher education level and I am currently studying part time to complete a masters in education.
I am a fellow of the higher education academy.
I have been a private tutor in Aberdeen and Hertfordshire for over 12 years teaching primary and lower secondary school Maths and English as well as GCSE and A level science in particular Biology and Chemistry.
I have taught students across the range of different levels, those obtaining A and A* grades as well as those who struggle with Biology and Chemistry and have increased their grades from U and E to C grades in order to reach their chosen university in an alternative subject.
Tutoring Approach:
I am a fun and easy going person who's personality makes teaching fun and exciting. I have been congratulated on my explanatory skills making some of the toughest concepts seem easy and logical. I find that varied and exciting methods work best for teaching difficult concepts. Exam technique and gaining maximum marks from those difficult questions are areas I have focussed on at A level.
I have tutored many A level students who have been successful in obtaining places at their desired universities over the past 9 years, whether it be a biological science subject or requiring a specific grade in order to study a subject of their choice.
I also have assisted students who may be struggling with confidence and who have exceeded their own expectations in their exam success.
