Farhana - Batley tutor
Information About Farhana:
Personal Description:
Hello,
My field of interest is primarily Science, particularly Biology, which I thoroughly enjoy learning about and teaching to others. However, I also have a strong background in Geography, English, Mathematics and IT.
I have worked with children of various age groups and abilities during different voluntary work experiences in the past. Children have ranged from those with special needs, mentoring young teenagers, tutoring as a volunteer at an after school club, affected children part of a Barnardo's programme and teaching young children Mad Science as an after school club teacher.
I am a graduate Clinical Sciences BSc (Hons) 2009 and hold a 2:1 degree. I have recently completed a PGCE course in Secondary Science ( including Biology at A level) at the University of Leeds (2010). Currently, I am working as a Teacher of Biology at Bradford Girls' Grammar School for ages 11-18.
Please contact me if you have any questions.

Teaching Experience:
Currently working as a Teacher of Biology at Bradford Girls' Grammar School for students aged between 7-18. I teacher all KeyStages including GCSE and A level Biology students. IGCSE is taught at KS4, however I have experience in teaching all syllabi as detailed before from previous teaching experiences. I have experience in providing extensive revision sessions/workshops for GCSE and A Level Biology using plenty of exam technique and past paper practice. Preparation for ISA and EMPA can also be provided.
Studying for the PGCE in secondary Science involved myself being on placement at 2 different secondary schools in the Yorkshire region. I was involved in teaching general science to all years, and specifically Biology at A level. GCSE focused on specific sciences and again, all sciences were taught according to the exam board syllabus. I have had experience in teaching OCR, AQA and EdExcell at GCSE.
I have worked for Mad Science as a Mad Scientist Demonstrator in primary schools around West Yorkshire. This job required me to plan and prepare the sessions for specific classes and as well as teaching the children, I also exercised class room behaviour management. The Mad Science sessions are a fun way of learning science and so I have a very unique approach to teaching; fun and exciting yet sensible and polite too. The Science I taught covered most areas of the national curriculum syllabus and aids children's' on-going learning at school.
I always try to incorporate the use of fun and exciting demonstrations, practicals and analogies when I teach; both in the classroom and at home when tutoring.
