Christine - Hull tutor
Information About Christine:
Personal Description:
I graduated from The University of Hull in June 2008, gaining a Bachelors Degree in Music where I specialised in Solo and Ensemble Performance. My final year dissertation focused soley on the different teaching styles which are implemented by music teachers, this inspired me to apply for a place on a Secondary PGCE course at The University of Hull. I believe that everyone has the right to learn, and that this is best done so in a non-pressurised environment. I am very enthusiastic about teaching and I realise the importance of education in all aspects of life.
I already have an advanced CRB check, and I am extremely flexible with hours. I am well qualified to teach Maths, English, Science and Music. My fee is negotiable depending on individual circumstances.
Teaching Experience:
I mainly have experience of teaching music to children and adults, in the field of private brass instrumental and piano tuition, and with teaching primary and GCSE level mathematics to children and adults of all ages.
Whilst studying for my degree I completed several teaching placements at schools which gave me insight to how subjects are taught in schools and how pupils react to different teaching styles.
I would now like to tutor for other subjects such as English and Science as I believe these to be key to educational development. I am comfortable with tutoring people of all ages and abilities. I also have knowledge of specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.
More recently I have tutored two adult learners whom where studying for GCSE equivilency examinations, and tutored five year 11 pupils whom all gained A's and A*'s in their GCSE exxaminations (summer 09).
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is very relaxed and informal. I believe that it is essential to create a stimulating environment for study and that clear lesson objectives should be provided to the student.
My aim is for the pupils to develop their own skills in the subject area. I use a range of different teaching skills which I adapt to suit the tutees individual needs, enabling me to explain concepts in a variety of different ways, to find the method that best suits each individual so that they gain as much as possible from the tutoring sessions.
