Personal Description:
This summer I completed a Certificate in English Language Teaching in Dublin. It was a 120 hour course with a 6 hour teaching component with feedback. Unlike many TEFL courses, this one involved teaching real students from the school. My tutors commented that I had a friendly and helpful teaching approach. I'm a very patient person but also highly motivated.
Teaching Experience:
I have worked on a voluntary basis as an Adult Literacy Tutor. I worked with an individual learner on spelling and study skills. In these sessions I had a relaxed approach with the learner as he had a lot of trouble with his written skills so I didn't want to overwhelm him. He found me to be patient and friendly and really appreciated my help.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe in having learners tell me exactly what they want from tutoring. We can then work out a tuition plan and stick to it. Or, if preferable we can take each session as it comes dependent on what the learner feels like doing.
