Information About Robert:

Personal Description:

I am 32 years old, and have been born and raised in Glasgow. I am a PhD student at Glasgow university and also work supporting adults with learning difficulties and occasionally as a cycle messenger. I'm in to meditation, philosophy, music, cycling and movies. I am reliably informed that I'm bright, fun and eccentric.

I have an Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering from Glasgow University, and have always had a natural aptitude and understanding of Mathematics, Physics and related subjects.

I have more recently gone on to gain a Masters in Philosophy (with Distinction), also at Glasgow University and I am currently undertaking a PhD in Theology.

Teaching Experience:

For the last two years I have successfully tutored students in Maths and Physics, at Standard Grade and Higher Level.

I also provide study support skills to students at Glasgow university, offering adive on how to learn, how to study and how to pass exams.

I have taught evening classes in meditation and philosophy for 6 years now, and have received very positive feedback from the students.

Tutoring Approach:

I try and make the study environment light and enjoyable, making effort to understand and overcome particular obstacles that the individual may have, and really trying to create a positive wish to learn.

I try to help the student gain real understanding of the subject, rather than merely memorising the material. That way the subject becomes clear and enjoyable for the individual, and learning will take place naturally and easily. To this end, I will usually not give more homework and will offer support in completing homework assignments set by the school.

I understand the pressures and stress involved in sitting examinations and try to offer support for the individual to overcome these obstacles too.
