Information About Susan:
Personal Description:
I am a flexible and adaptable experienced teacher across Key stages 1-3. My main interests are in the arts and aside from my career in teaching I have pursued a lifelong interest in ceramics.
I have recently returned from living in France for eight years. My time there gave me the opportunity to develop my language skills while running my own pottery studio and school.
I am now re-establishing myself as a tutor, as teaching has always been at the root of all my professional activities, whether as a classroom teacher, private tutor or support teacher.
Teaching Experience:
I have had teaching experience in primary schools in London and Kent. Teaching experience with excluded pupils with behavioural problems and developing programmes to integrate them back into school. I have also worked with Traveller Eduation Support Services in Kent. This involved working with children and their families on a one to one basis and then supporting them into mainstream school.
In France I taught English to groups of French children and taught ceramics to groups of children and adults.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that every student should have the opportunity to succeed and one to one teaching allows the tutor to develop appropriate individualised programmes of work to bring about success.The importance of self confidence and self esteem in the student cannot be under estimated and much of my teaching experience has involved recognising how these elements may affect learning.
A combination of knowledge of the student, the subject to be taught and external pressures, enable me to develop a learning programme tailored to the needs of each student.
