Seun - Cardiff tutor
Information About Seun:
Personal Description:
Aside from teaching I am also a writer, a musician and a photographer. I enjoy keeping fit and learning about new cultures.
Teaching Experience:
English Teacher, Abersychan School, 2011 - Present.
English Teacher, Bedwas High, Caerphilly 2008 - 2010
Supply Teacher, Teaching Personnel, Cardiff & Bristol 2007-2008
Since September 2007 I have worked regularly for Teaching Personnel in schools across South East Wales and The Forest of Dean.
During this time I have served a long term post (1 month) exclusively as a Drama Teacher, have regularly supplied for English, and taken on general cover work as well.
My most recent attachment was with a behavioral unit attached to a Monmouthshire school and run jointly with social services.
Teacher, Oakdale Comprehensive, Oakdale, Blackwood 2005-2007
I was employed at Oakdale Comprehensive in Caerphilly County. I taught English across the age and ability range, from special needs year 7 classes to top set GCSE groups. I also taught drama as part of the Performing Arts Curriculum. In addition to teaching, I looked after a Year 7 Tutor group. I was also heavily involved in producing and participating in two School productions: Annie and Grease. This involved school trips to London and Cardiff, as well as lunch and after-school commitment.
Student Teacher, Cathays High, Cardiff - Jan 2005 - June 2005
I taught English across the curriculum with a specific focus on key stage three special needs. I specialized in using ICT and modern analogies to convey Shakespeare (Julius Caesar) to middle-set Year 9 pupils. In preparation for A-Level exams I taught revision classes on 'The Colour Purple.'
Student Teacher, Barry Comprhensive, Barry Oct 2004 - December 2005
During this first experience in a school one of the teachers took ill, and I volunteered to look after her form group. In addition to teaching English across the curriculum, and supporting an SEN teacher in a borderline secure-unit Special Needs class, I also participated in the School Musical, The Yellow Brick Road.
Tutoring Approach:
I consider myself to be an encouraging teacher. Though I believe in firm discipline, I also believe that I child with a healthy sense of self esteem (and boundaries) will find learning to be an enjoyable experience.
I have experienced learning in many different cultures and environments, and so have a good sense of the different expectations that parents and pupils may have from education and from each other. My job is to create a balance, to educate the child in the subject, and to also help them to understand the relevance of what they are learning in the wider world.
