Information About Steven:

Personal Description:

Hi, I`m Steve. I have tutored full time for the last three years and I welcome anyone who has the desire to find extra support outside of school/college/uni or the workplace. I am very flexible and will work around your schedule and use my wide experience of different peoples study habits to help you get the most out of your studies. I have a first class degree in maths and physics from the University of Durham (completed 2005). I am currently returning to education to take up an MSc in Theoretical Physics at the University of Edinburgh 2014/15. I am originally from Carlisle.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years experience (three full-time) tutoring maths, physics, chemistry in the Manchester area to people of ages ranging from 16 to adult. I have also taught the OCR Advancing Physics B syllabus at Glossopdale Community College in Derbyshire for 6 months (cover) in 2014 with excellent references.

I have a wide range of mathematical knowledge having taught all advanced higher modules available to Mathematics and Further Mathematics students in England.

I have experience with foundation and first year undergraduate students who require maths tuition to supplement courses including those studying medicine, engineering, optometry, finance, pharmacy etc.

I am also available to help with undergraduate level mathematics and physics.

I have taught many adult learners who wish to re-enter education from the workplace, or simply pass a course they missed out on at school in their spare time, whatever the reason. Similarly any teachers studying for the Key Skills maths exam as part of QTS status I have helped several people though this qualification, each of them passing first time.

Tutoring Approach:

I will assess your tutoring needs in the first session and decide on a structure and strategy that will be of most benefit to you. I am comfortable working either towards upcoming exams or a more long-term support to your studies. I will make use of the materials you have to hand from your course(s) and make sure that you are approaching the problems set with a clear understanding and in a thorough, meticulous way.
