Personal Description:
I live and work in Esher, Surrey.
After graduating in English at University, I spent 11 years as an infant teacher. During this time I took an OU degree in Physiology & Biochemistry. In 1985 I retrained for a career in the IT industry. Over the next 18 years, I held a number of roles : programmer, analyst, consultant, project manager, IT support, pre-sales tech support and client manager.
Six years ago, I returned to University to take a degree in Photography and Digital Imaging.
I am currently working as a private tutor offering KS1 & KS2 in Maths and English, adult Literacy, report writing, maths GCSE equivalency, photography, IT and Photoshop. I also work as a freelance photographer.
Teaching Experience:
13 years teaching 4 - 11yrs - all subjects (English, Maths, Science, Philosophy, French, PE, music, art).
Six years private tutoring children aged 6 - 11yrs (English & Maths).
Six years tutoring adults in all aspects of computer basics.
Six years private tutoring adults in Photoshop and digital imaging.
Two years teaching an evening class in digital photography to adults.
Three years private tutoring adults in report writing skills for degree assignments and Maths GCSE equivalence.
Tutoring Approach:
I offer a friendly, informal tutoring service in either my home or the student's. (Prices quoted are for tuition at my home. If you would prefer me to travel to you, please ask for a quote, which will depend on availability and distance travelled). Lesson content and pace is entirely dependent on the student's needs, my aim being to encourage the student to feel relaxed and to get as much from each session as possible. Follow up tasks can be given if wished. I offer the following:
Maths: Primary KS1 & KS2.
English: Primary KS1 & KS2
IT: Choosing the right computer, how to set up your system; computer basics - getting started; email; the Internet;
Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint to advanced level.
Photography: All levels of photography from beginner to professional. Photoshop and digital imaging.
Adult numeracy.
