I am very passionate about the importance of education in all aspects of life. I have got degree in Economics from University of Hull. I live in Wandsworth SW18 and would be happily able to tutor anywhere around South West London.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very flexible approach to tutoring, and I would want to create a stimulating environment to enable the tutee to bring ideas and new approaches to problem solving which will not only help them to learn faster but also boost their confidence. Personal Description:
I recently stepped down as Head of German at the secondary school in Kidderminster, where I have led the German Department since 1995. I now work as a German classroom teacher. My decision to step down was based on the fact that I got married in July last year and now have to travel a considerable distance to my school. During my time as Head of Department, the results at Key Stage 3, GCSE, AS and A2 have improved considerably. The pass rate for GCSE German has been approximately 80% for several years. This is higher than the national average and was based on 3 years of study to GCSE. Many pupils achieve top A*, A and B grades. The pass rate at AS and A2 has also been excellent with pupils achieving As, Bs and Cs. Former pupils have gone on to study languages at top-ranking universities and some have returned to the school in a teaching capacity for Modern Languages.

I have also worked as a tutor in Further Education teaching adults from aged 20 - 80 years from beginner's up to GCSE type work.

I am have friends in Germany and visit on a regular basis and keep up to date with new teaching ideas via the MFL Resources Forum.

I am interested in using a range of teaching strategies and personalising learning to meet the needs of learners. You Tube and ICT feature in my classroom.

Exchanges and visits to Germany have been given prominence during my time as Head of Department.

I qualified as a teacher in my 30s following a successful career in industry as a PA and Company Translator for a German machine tool company. I have lived in Germany for a year on two different occasions. At both times, I worked for a German employer.

Teaching Experience:

Beginners' German (Key stage 3 and adults)
GCSE German
AS German
A2 German

I have experience as an oral examiner at GCSE, AS and A2.

Tutoring Approach:

I would be interested in understanding what the tutee required, using relevant materials and developing teaching strategies tailor-made to suit my tutee's needs.

I currently use a range of teaching strategies and personalise learning in my school classroom to meet the needs of learners. You Tube and ICT feature in my teaching.

Personal Description:
I studied Classics at King's College, Cambridge, graduating in 2009. I then trained as a teacher at Queens' College, Cambridge, graduating with a PGCE in 2010. I have been a private tutor since 2009, and have now clocked up thousands of hours' tutoring experience in Latin and Ancient Greek. I tutor both languages to degree-level standard in London, Cambridge and online. I love Classics, and my main aim is to make my lessons fun and inspirational.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring Latin and Ancient Greek intensively for the past 7 years, with thousands of hours' teaching experience to date. I have taught towards all major public exams in both languages, such as Common Entrance, GCSE, AS, A2, SAT, Pre-U and even BA (i.e. University exams). I am familiar with the entrance processes for a number of independent and grammar schools, and have had a lot of experience teaching towards scholarship papers. I have tutored many students applying to Cambridge and Oxford, and can provide in-depth advice and support with choosing the right course and college, as well as getting to the necessary level for the language tests. I have also taught the languages to those who have decided to learn them purely for fun! In addition to my face-to-face teaching, I have taught extensively online (about 50% of my teaching is conducted on Skype), and have built up an array of handy techniques to get the most from the online format. I was Head of Latin at a school in Bury St Edmunds for two years (September 2011 to July 2013). Since October 2010, I have been supervising Cambridge undergraduates in Latin and Ancient Greek (colleges so far have included Pembroke, Downing, Homerton, Queens', King's, Murray Edwards, Newnham, Caius, Peterhouse, St John's, Emmanuel and Trinity). I also own and run a private tuition agency, Titanium Tutors, which I set up in 2011, managing a team of 8 staff members and over 1000 inspirational tutors.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is structured and thorough. I start every lesson with a five minute recap of the key content of the previous session, checking how much the tutee remembers. A typical lesson will then consist of a translation, in which I ask the tutee to note down each unknown word as it is encountered and to devise a memory trick which will help them to recall the word in a five minute test at the end of the lesson. Together with the tutee, I will then pick a grammar point which stood out in the translation exercise as requiring the most immediate attention. We will spend five to ten minutes working on that, with the tutee's understanding tested with some reinforcement exercises. At the end of the lesson we will recap all the new vocabulary and grammar which was covered, and I will typically set a manageable 20 - 30 minute homework for the next session based on what was covered in the lesson. Every lesson is of course different, and tailored to the tutee's requirements, but I find this approach works in the vast majority of cases. I consider grammar to be crucially important, but treat it as a means to an end and always emphasise the ways in which it can be usefully applied to translation rather than learned in isolation. I believe that any tutee can excel in Latin and Greek with a little guidance and a decent amount of independent work. Above all, I strive to make my lessons fun and enjoyable. I love my subject and want all of my tutees to love it too.

Personal Description:
I am a Foundation Year 2 doctor currently working in Brighton and Sussex University NHS Trust. I graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2015 with Distinctions in pre-clinical science, clinical science, medical science and clinical practice. I achieved a first-class honour in my BSc in Neuroscience and Mental Health. I obtained A* in GCSE Science and Maths as well as A (A* not introduced at the time) in A level Maths, Biology and Chemistry.

Teaching Experience:

Pre-A level maths and science
I have always had a passion for teaching. During the course of my medical school, I have taught maths and science at various levels including GCSE and Year 11-14 with great success. I gained a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction from watching my students gaining confidence and interest in maths and science, as well as improvement in grade.

Medical student turoing
I have been involved in a variety of medical student teaching including OSCE/PACES teaching, mock examination examiners and EMQ teaching. I have also had experience in tutoring medical school applications/ personal statements and have been on the medical school interview panels at Imperial College School of Medicine.
I have gained qualification in the Toronto university online teaching course.

Note: I can tutor at my flat as well as at the tutee's flat. Travel/parking fee needs to be covered by the tutee.

Tutoring Approach:

Pre-A level maths and science
I believe that every student has a different way of learning and as a teacher, it is my job to explore the learning style specific to the student and it is my job to inspire interest and confidence in the student. Often, I get feedback from students that the best thing about my teaching is the fact that I made them feel more confident to tackle the problems themselves and to trust their own judgement. I believe that this is very important, especially in maths and science because this is where creativity and problem-solving skills begin. I also believe in creating a solid foundation. I encourage students to always work from first principle, not just memorise formulas and really think about the basics and start working it out from there in a logical way. I feel that this is especially important in tackling more complex problems, which is what a lot of students struggle with.

Medical student tutoring
OSCE/PACES teaching: I like to focus on the basics and I emphasise the importance of getting the technique right. I use case-based discussions to stimulate students to think of about the history, examination, investigation and management. I teach students how to formulate differential diagnoses and come up with a management plan.

EMQ teaching: I focus on the technique of asnwering questions. Every question has a key word which steer you in the right direction, and my focus is for students to learn to identify these key words and select the best posisble option.

Medical school application: I get to know my student, understand their strength and weaknesses as well as their motivation and experience and tweak it to formulate the best possible portfolio to present to the medical school.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced industrial chemist, having postdoctoral experience with Avecia and GSK. I then retrained as a teacher and have taught at all levels from school to University. My experience covers A-levels and Advanced Higher. I have six years teaching experience, which includes 3 years at FE colleges, 1 year at University and 2 years at secondary school. As a home tutor and online tutor I have two years experience. Some of my students needed A's to enter Medicine or veterinary medicine. With my help they pulled their grades up to get this. Other students just wanted to pass and sometimes they surprised themselves by getting B's. I have taught dyslexic students as they were struggling with traditional teaching at school or college. My visual and imaginative teaching style has helped many of these students. In fact this approach helps all my students. Based in France I am limited to online tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching in schools, colleges and University. My experience covers A-Levels, HND, HNC and University. I also specialize in private tuition which I enjoy very much. Many tutors are students or graduates who do not have teacher training. I am a professional educator who provides quality tutoring at very reasonable rates.

Tutoring Approach:

All my students get a tailored learning approach and regular feedback at the end of each tutoring session. Underpinning my tutoring is exam preparation. Students are coached to understand the marking process. During the tutorial session students work hard by solving problems and formulating their own conclusions. In fact I work on the principle "don't tell teach". In first tuition I will provide proof of qualifications. With advances in technology online tuition provides an excellent alternative to home tutoring. I can talk to students face to face via skype. We can also communicate via an online white board (its online so you have nothing to install on your computer). All you need is a computer, internet, skype and a micro. I will give a short free trial tutorial before paid tutorials. If you are not satisfied we part company no obligation.

Personal Description:
I'm 27 years old, a graduate of the University of London (MA) and full-time tutor with around four years' experience.

I received a distinction in Latin as part of my MA Classics degree, and continue to enjoy studying and teaching both Latin and ancient Greek.

Teaching Experience:

Extensive experience in teaching prep-school, GCSE, A-level and degree-level Latin to ages ranging between 7 to 40+ yrs.

Select achievements of 2016:

Pupil i: A pupil of mine for c three years, he achieved a B in the Westminster School Latin Challenge 13+ examination (A-Level standard) and has earned himself a place at the school.

Pupil ii.: Came to me with almost no knowledge of Latin, having found it tedious during the year. Within 12 weeks she took the exam and recieved a B at Level 1 Latin.

Pupil iii.: A long-standing pupil, she received as average a First for the essays I provided tuition on (Year 1 of her BA Classical Studies).

Select achievements of 2015:

Pupil i. (Prep) Bright though receiving consistently low marks in his Latin and Greek mock papers, he achieved an A in the end-of-year examinations in both subjects after c six months tuition, and recieved a place at a top London school.

Pupil ii. (GCSE) Suffering from dyslexia and receiving low marks on her language papers, she eventually achieved an A after c six months of tuition. Now studying at a top London girls' school.

Tutoring Approach:

I use the first lesson to assess the extent of the pupil's grammatical knoweldge by asking for the recitation of tables and perhaps a translation of a small piece of prose or verse matched in difficulty to the pupil's level.

After this assessment, the following lessons are based around the needs of the pupil, with practice questions and passages forming the basis of our learning.

Imperative to my lessons are a sense of humour and frequent chats - this provides relief, which in turn stimulates concentration and allows for a rapport to to be built with the pupil.

Some previous references:

"He is patience, sympathetic, and good in tailoring his teaching method to suit the need and ability level of his student. He is currently helping my son to prepare for the 13 plus common entrance scholarship exams for Latin and English, of whom is aiming for the Westminster School in 2016, year 9 entry.

Anthony has a good sense of humour and a very relaxed manner, that makes my kid feeling easy and comfortable to work on the subjects. A wonderful kind tutor who encourage and motivate my child to achieve the best. My son is the top of his year in Latin since Year 6, 100 per cent creditability to Anthony.

I would have no hesitations to recommending Anthony."

"An extremely engaging and enthusiastic character; his ardour delicately forces the student to love the discipline for themselves, and he has greatly increased my personal interest in the subjects of Latin and Classics. Not much I can think to fault by ways of teaching, would highly recommend."

"Anthony helped my son over the holidays with some grammar he was finding difficult. He fitted us in at short notice and went out of his way to be helpful - running off sheets and practice questions in the target areas. Would thoroughly recommend Anthony, he's patient and gets his message across clearly and effectively."

"Has wonderful personality that makes it easier to listen to him and at the same time enjoy the lessons. He helped me a lot with my essays when it came to the structure which is essential in the Grade A criteria. Highly recommendable."

Please note that for pupils outside a three mile radius of my house and who require my travelling to them, there is an additional charge for travelling expenses/time taken in addition to my standard hourly rate. This is to be negotiated with the client before details are exchanged.

Personal Description:
Bonjour !

I am a French native tutor with 5 years experience of teaching French to pupils of various ages and levels of expertise.

As I am back to France, I deliver now online lessons and convesations through the internet.

What you will need is very simple: a computer with Skype on it, earphones and a good Internet access.
So, if you haven't yet found your French teacher to help you with your learning or if prefer to learn in the comfort of your home and spare the travel time, please contact me!

Teaching Experience:

ADULT
2011 - now: varied experiences in one to one or two to one tuitions:
- from survival to intermediate + GCSE exam preparation, A level exam preparation.

2011 - 2016: group class in a company, Trend Controls, Horsham- A1/A2 level
2012 - 2016: group class in a company, Trend Controls, Horsham- A0 level

CHILDREN
2015-2016: Maitresse for lespuces, Horsham, Early years French Clubs
2013- 2014:
- French teacher for Year 1 (KS1), Kingslea Primary School, Horsham (Volunteering)
2012-2013:
- French teacher for Reception (Fundation), Kingslea Primary School, Horsham (Volunteering)
- Private tuition with a 4 years' boy.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that having a native teacher is a huge advantage for students of the French language wanting to perfect their pronunciation, improve fluency and knowledge of both proper and currently spoken French.

My tuition is tailor-made and flexible, according to each pupil's needs and requirements.
I ask the pupil to do homework, as there is no learning without personal work.
Depending on the level, I prefer to follow a book, for example Façon de parler 1 for absolute beginners. I of course add exercises, explanations, texts and resources to the book.

Please feel free to contact me for any enquiry: I am available for weekly lessons or for a one-off session!

Alors, à bientôt j'espère !

Personal Description:
I am a recently retired Clinical Scientists (registered). I am married with a son and I am a youthful 67 year old with an 8 years old son! We are a non smoking family. My involvement with "mathematics", at various levels, dates back to when I left secondary school (Blackpool) in 1964 and worked for the Civil Service for 5 years. I was in an accounts division and passed two additional maths (and eventually English!) O'Levels via evening classes as well as enjoying the 60s and playing bass guitar in local groups. I took a 1 year full time A''Level course (Maths, Further Maths and Physics) and subsequently read for a Mathematics degree (Physics subsid.) at the University of Nottingham (1970-73). During this time, I had 3 vacation studentships with different departments of the Scientific Civil Service. After graduating, I worked for around 15 years as a computer programmer / analyst during which time I passed an HND in Computer Studies (University of the South Bank, London). Although I was 40 years old when I was made redundant from a communications company, I decide to make a significant career change and return to my "roots" and look for scientific work where my mathematical skills would be better used. After 2 years as a Medical Laboratory Scientific Officer in the lung function laboratory at the Royal Brompton, I had the tools and experience to apply for a research post in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Post Graduate Medical School (RPGMS, Hammersmith Hospital).

I retired in 2014 after 25 years as a researcher / Clinical Scientist at the RPGMS and Royal London. A large part of my research involved mathematical analysis of breathing patterns and flow-volume curves. This involved developing techniques and algorithms for alternative methods of assessing "lung function". I published many papers in international medical journals and all included a significant maths / stats content. During this time, I took evening classes obtaining additional A' Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Statistics and then read for an M Sc in General Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Kings College London. In 2005, my portfolio was reviewed by the Health Professions Council and I registered as Clinical Scientist, which is a protected title, The main reason for the additional qualifications was my passion for learning and the thrill of sitting examinations and testing myself. The addition A'Levels and M. Sc. were taken for the challenge and pleasure and were not directly relevant to my career. One important reason for offering private tuition is my love of teaching / learning and I miss my close involvement with the "sciences". I have been accepted as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) ambassador and I have an enhanced DBS check certificate.

Teaching Experience:

Although, I do not have formal teaching qualification and I only started offering private tuition at the beginning of 2015, I am a patient person who has tutored a range of tutees from Common Entrance Exam level to adult learner including CGSE students for both Mathematics and Statistics.

However, my "teaching" roles / experiences go back to the mid 60s helping friends struggling with the Civil Service maths entrance exams and later, post graduation, I taught maths, unpaid, to several children of friends as well as adult friends and colleagues who needed to obtain better qualification. My research positions included (i) formal teaching / lecturing roles at all levels e.g. work experience students, medical / nursing students, visiting medics, junior members of the lab staff as well as registrars and consultants; (ii) presenting the research at local, national and international meetings and (iii) giving guest lectures on B. Sc. and M Sc. courses.

In my research / technical support work, I found particular pleasure explaining to children and parents the purpose and science that underpinned the tests and the analysis and interpretation of the results. This was a unique experience for almost all of them. It gave them and me a lot of pleasure and improved the success problems. In my own time, I helped patients, some who missed a lot of school time due to their problems, with both school work in the sciences and others with projects related to the maths and biology of their respiratory problems. Invariably, they ended up knowing more than their teachers!

Tutoring Approach:

As George Orwell never said "All tutees are not the same but some are more different than others".

I have a variety of approaches, depending on factors such as (i) whether the tutee needs teaching or revision; (ii) the number of lessons the tutee can fit in before the exam; (iii) their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their interests; (iv) whether the tutee is struggling to keep up or a flyer needing to ensure an A* (v) the length of the sessions 45-90 mins and whether it is one or two session a week and (vi) the work they are able to do between sessions.

However, there are aspects that are common to all tutees: before starting the lessons, I am happy to meet for a chat (no charge) to spend as long as necessary clarifying important issue such as (i) which board, level and paper they will be sitting; (ii) the text book they use and which parts of the syllabus have been covered and whether any need revising or explaining and (iii) wherever possible, obtaining suggestions and feedback from their teachers including where marks had been lost in recent exams.

Other aspects of my approach include (i) the tutee attempting appropriate questions / papers from other boards to encourage and foster "thinking outside the box" and, thus, to be prepared for questions that do not fit the usual mode; (ii) e-mailing questions of papers in advance of session to allow adequate time for preparation; (iii) feeding back how sessions have gone and suggestions for changes and being available between session via e-mail; (iv) moving up and down the difficulty ladder depending on the progress; (v) working on exam technique and teaching how to not misinterpret questions, sometimes, badly written; (vi) preparing tutees for difficult topics about to be taught at school, to ensure they get the most out of upcoming lessons; (vii) using examples from everyday life to demonstrate the use and usefulness of maths and statistics outside of the classroom and (viii) building up confidence and aiming to engender a passion and love of the subject and learning, in general.

I make extensive use of marking schemes and examiners reports to discuss how the tutee may have obtained the correct answer but lost marks due to not showing their working or lost time providing irrelevant details and this has been very successful and interesting for the tutees.

Some of my feedback:
(i) As a Year 11 student, Peter has been providing me with extra mathematics tuition during the final months before my GCSE examinations, offering distinct, concise teaching within a relaxed but highly enjoyable and yet professional environment. As a mathematician, Peter has aided me in approaching mathematics from a somewhat more lateral perspective, exploring multiple methods that could be employed to solve a challenging question; a form of thinking that is seldom used within a typical school environment. Peter's abundant, infectious passion for both his tuition and mathematics manifests itself within his unswerving support and guidance during our sessions together, delivering a uniquely engaging teaching environment within which to learn, but most importantly, to enjoy learning mathematics!"

(ii) Parent of a Year 11 school girl: Hello Peter, thank you for your follow up, your emails always have an interesting flair about them. We also enjoyed our meeting and Ebony particularly liked your relaxed approach to the subject, for that reason alone I think she would benefit from being able to ask questions without feeling awkward about what she doesn't understand, most importantly I agree with your 'spades a spade' philosophy in how to interpret the syllabus into the real world.

(iii) Teacher's reply to an e-mail from the mother of a Common Entrance school boy: Thank you for your email. I am pleased Edward has a good tutor and is happy doing extra Maths. The best paper to prepare Edward for our end of year test would be a practice SATs test as they follow a similar format to ours.

(iv) A recent GCSE student, EDEXCEL Higher, via his mother: Peter, I obtained and A in my Stats paper and B in my maths paper and I was told by my teacher that it might be worth remarking, as I was only several marks away from the A Grade)

Consulting the 'breakdown' of my overall Mathematics grade, it appears as though I (thanks to your support) did exceptionally well within the non-calculator paper (the equivalent of a very high A/ very low A* in terms of marks), but it was simply a few questions at the end of the calculator paper (that seemed to baffle everyone, regardless of ability) that partially pushed my overall grade down.

Once again, thank you for all of your support and guidance; I certainly would not have been able to achieve my result within the NON-calculator paper, the paper that I claimed was more intimidating, without our sessions within the Library. You have improved not only my proficiency, but also my confidence in Maths enormously and for that I cannot thank you enough.

(v) Father of a schoolgirl (EDEXCEL Higher): "E" did very well overall and passed all 13 ! In Maths she was one point off a B so of course that's a C. I think we will request a remark for the maths paper. Many thanks again for your help in the past, best wishes.

Personal Description:
I am an inspiring, qualified and experienced Spanish and French teacher. My enthusiasm and patience motivates pupils to achieve their full potential and to understand concepts they may struggle with in school. My years of experience as a classroom teacher has allowed me to try and test techniques to ensure pupils make progress from Year 7 to A-level and beyond.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher in 2012 and I have taught French and Spanish from Year 7 to A-level in a secondary school since then. I have been a Sixth Form tutor and so helped pupils write UCAS references and prepared them for Spanish Oxbridge interviews. I fully understand the requirements for AQA and EDEXCEL exam boards for both the old and new GCSE and A-level. I regularly assess and monitor my students' progress and set them achievable targets. I am in regular contact with students' parents so they are aware of their child's progress and targets.
Prior to qualifying as a teacher I was an English as a Foreign Language teacher for 2 years and have tutored for a year.

Tutoring Approach:

I ensure lessons are tailored to meet individual needs and use a range of resources in each lesson. Pupils are set targets which they work towards and I guarantee that my tutees do make progress. Lessons are engaging and cover all four skills; reading, writing, speaking and listening as well as grammar. In addition, I expect pupils to complete independent learning tasks (homework) so they can make the most of tutor contact time. My tutees benefit enormously from the one-to-one contact time and grow in confidence. Each of my lessons is structured based on the tutee's immediate needs and areas for improvement. I am also available to tutor online via Skype

Personal Description:
I am a very passionate chemistry educator, with a proven track record for supporting students to outstanding results at both A Level and GCSE. I hold a PhD in chemistry, and use my deep understanding of my subject to engage and inspire my students. I have a PGCE/QTS and am currently Head of Chemistry at a well respected Liverpool School.
I will offer a discount for students who wish to travel to me for tuition.

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in A Level chemistry, and currently lead AQA A Level chemistry for a large cohort of sixth form students. I have previously taught and tutored OCR A Level chemistry. My cohort of students in the last academic year achieved outstanding results, and an impressively large percentage chose to study chemistry at university.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the approach towards tutoring varies depending on the pupil, and try my best to adapt my teaching method accordingly. I have experience and proven success in pushing students towards A/A* grades, as well as coaching students on C/D/E borderlines.

I am very patient and supportive of children of all needs and I am just finishing my training as a primary school teacher. I am 20 years old and my hours are very flexible.

Teaching Experience:

I am just finishing my degree to be a primary school teacher with a specialism in special educational needs. I have just finished working in year 2 for the last three months so I am familiar with what is required to meet the expectations for SATS if that is something you need. I am very familiar with children across the autistic spectrum and I understand how they learn and I am able to support them to achieve their potiential.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring depends on the child, some need direct and clear instructions and others may need to be supported emotionally as well as intellectually when preparing for tests or in their progression. I am very patient and kind to the children I tutor but I also want to ensure they make progress.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is an interactive one, which necessitates an equal input from both teacher and student. I aim to lead the student to apply his/her recently-acquired knowledge in a practical way and I find a balance between role plays, written, speaking, and reading assignments enable the student to engage with the material in the most efficient way.
