Hello! My name is Ewa and I am passionate about learning and teaching languages. I was born and raised in Poland where I used to live until I discovered my interest for different cultures and languages. I have studied in France, travelled and worked in Poland, France, Italy and England and finally settled a few years ago in North Wales. Speaking languages has influenced my whole life! As a tutor, I teach my native Polish and also French, Spanish and Italian. I really enjoy working with people from different cultural backgrounds and showing them that languages, especially Polish, are not so difficult as it seems!

Since an early age I wanted to be a teacher, making my school and university choices in education and with my added passion for languages, today I am a professionally fulfilled person doing what I love the most - teaching languages!

Teaching Experience:

Reflecting on my work history, the experience I gained as a language teacher has had the most significant impact on my career development giving me the most professional satisfaction. University studies in education for a Master's degree in Modern Languages and multiple stays in France enabled me to acquire native level spoken French. Following my passion for languages, I became enthusiastic about the Spanish and Italian cultures and tongues. Thanks to languages courses and opportunity to polish my communication skills in commercial contact with native speakers, I developed a high fluency level.

I started my professional career teaching French in a Polish high school where my performance was highly praised not only for encouraging young people to learn languages and promoting plurilingualism but also for my learner-centred teaching approach.

On arrival in England, I achieved Qualified Teacher Status in recognition of my overseas qualifications. I had an opportunity to teach French to children in after school classes, tutoring in French and Spanish to GCSE students and helping adults to meet their languages goals in French, Spanish, Italian, and Polish.

Making the transition between different audiences allowed me to be more adaptable, experienced in tailoring my teaching to suit any level and today I feel very confident delivering lessons to a range of ages from children to adults.

In addition to tutoring, currently, I teach at the University of Chester to adults during evening classes and in various Educational and Cooperate environments.

Tutoring Approach:

As a language teacher, I am always deeply involved in planning and preparation which allows me to deliver lessons to the highest standards. I use a variety of teaching methods, effective materials, and resources, giving learners opportunities to develop and practice their skills. I pay attention to teaching within a cultural context and being very creative I enjoy sourcing materials, making the learning process challenging and yet enjoyable. I am a huge advocate of using modern day technologies in the teaching and learning the process.

In my teaching career, I taught languages to a different range of ages, however, my approach is to look at my learners individually, from children to adults and tailor my teaching to personal needs. Although being a teacher can be a demanding career, the joy of seeing my learners' progress in their linguistic achievements is a highly satisfying reward.

Being myself a keen language learner, I perfectly understand how challenging it can be, acquiring a new language. During our first taster session that I offer for free, I would assess your knowledge to identify your language level, learning style, motivation and according to your expectations I would propose a plan and methods we could use to achieve your language goals.

I am a 2:1 graduate with a good grounding in both the arts and sciences, as I studied English, German, Maths and Physics at A-level, before gaining my BA in Architecture from UCA - University for the Creative Arts (formerly the Kent Institute of Art & Design). I now work as a freelance Sinhalese interpreter and Buddhist teacher / meditation group leader. In my spare time I'm an amateur singer-songwriter.

I currently teach adults early Buddhist philosophy, as well as how to meditate. I have also led occasional meditation groups for primary school children as part of their Religious Education lessons, and have tutored children to improve their Maths ability for their 11+ exam.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm always friendly and encouraging, and am good at helping students understand concepts by using examples, illustrations and provoking discussion. Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced teacher, who has taught privately one to one for a number of years. I have primarily taught English on a one to one basis for tutees who are preparing for their GCSE and "A" level examinations, but I am also experienced in helping tutees improve their literacy skills from a young age. I also have a wealth of experience of teaching English as a Foreign language on a one to one basis. I have taught in a number of language schools over the years, and at one point started a language school in southern Italy. One to one teaching, by its nature, is very intense, so it is very important to introduce variety as much as possible. A mixture of written work, as well as oral work, if required is essential to keep the tutee focused and interested in what you are teaching. Teaching Experience:

I have seven full years experience as a full-time private tutor. My role addresses the pitfalls of a mainstream education by truly individualising it, and is perfected through thousands of hours of experience of striving to achieve precisely that. My thirst for knowledge has allowed me to develop a true understanding of mathematical concepts: I have frequently played the role of the consultant throughout my mathematical career, have been able to help my peers and students avoid the pitfalls usually associated with difficult ideas and am able to explain things from numerous angles.

Tutoring Approach:

Traversing the mathematical landscape is an art; it can be a very uncomfortable environment for some. I find it so important to make my students feel at ease and to find confidence in their maths and so important to be friendly and patient. I am not a suited, booted assessor, nor old-school, to be frank! The feedback I've received indicates that I am very successful in creating a supportive atmosphere that encourages discussion, openness and good effort.

As well as engaging with students in this manner, my aim as a maths tutor is to get my students to 'think mathematically'; to uncover the inherent simplicity in methods and concepts and to truly understand what is being worked with. It is my business to focus thought, prevent confusion and stimulate the development of good ideas. I employ illuminating explanations and navigate sticking points, and as a result maths should be considerably easier to handle under my guidance.

As well as offering support for those with difficulties or specific grade aspirations at standard levels, I can also challenge the very able as intensely as they could hope for, introducing them to the mindset, rigour and practise required for the more challenging AEA and STEP papers. At university I was lucky enough to find myself one to whom others turned with maths troubles: I have been depended on to explain advanced maths effectively for years. I am sure this accounts for two more areas of particularly positive feedback I've received as a tutor: in explaining concepts and in effectively dealing with problems as they arise.

I provide tuition either at my home in central Cheltenham, or at the homes of students within a 30-mile radius of it (dependent on particular location).

I am here to provide a complete teaching experience that in addition to ironing out difficulties and providing excellent exam preparation as matter of course, at no extra effort on the part of the student introduces them to the thought processes and insights of the professional mathematician. I have the STRONGEST sense of duty of care to my students and want every one who I work with to exceed their own expectations and the expectations of others and to walk away feeling truly proud of their achievements.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that Tutoring is first about personal connection. Any learning can only be achieved given a certain level of trust, which must be established in order to create a solid platform from which further learning can then flourish. Younger students are most open to absorbing information and should have the chance to take academic information and guidance from a range of people. This enhances the educational experiences and broadens the horizons of a student.

Having myself struggled with poor teachers, or unwieldy subject matter, I know that, with the right teachers, such areas can come alive. More clinical approaches to tutoring further separate students from the learning process. Having experienced one-to-one tuition myself, I have seen the many positives and potential pitfalls the system can bring. These experiences galvanize me and help me in my own tutoring. I relish taking what I have learnt, and the exciting methods by which I have learnt it, and passing that on to other students.

Regardless of the level taught, it is impossible to make real progress unless the student first has engagement and interest in the subject. I see my task as tutor as a process of invigorating the material for those studying.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught many students in my local Kumon centre for 4 years. This length of time at the centre allowed me to teach students from 3 to 16 years old. So my experience with children from Primary to Secondary education is copious. At the centre I taught both English and Mathematics to students, which is what I hope to do with your children. In addition to teaching at the centre, I have taught both at an English teaching school and privately in Korea. In Korea I even tutored a one year old child for one year, which was incredibly rewarding to see that I was helping her to grow to become bilingual. So I have a lot of experience teaching foreign students English so that they are able to quickly pick up the language and speak comfortably. I have now been teaching children privately for 3 years and am very happy to be able to continue doing so alongside studying.

Latin:
Apart from solving the problems of your school work, we will do more exercise, such as unseen translation and English-Latin translation, to find out your weak and strong points. The exercise will help me prepare materials that will help you memorise syntax, vocabulary, and grammar. Grammar can be very boring and put down students' interest in Latin. However, learning through reading interesting, alien, and exotic stories will enhance students' motivation to look into the Roman Antiquity. Reading will also more effectively shed lights on the parts of grammar and syntax we need to make up. Moreover, I will show you how to master speech recognition tactics in order to develop a stronger reading comprehension. I believe in the end of this course, we will have a better understand of Latin as a language and Latin literature as a whole.

I have been learning English since I was fifteen. I have overcome many difficulties, such as taking language exams, living in foreign lands, and doing academic works. I have a wide and varied education and employment background. Teaching is a vocation that I have found for myself relatively late in life. My maturity and experience are assets that enable me to approach students with great tact, understanding and patience.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a secondary mathematics teacher but I have a wide variety of teaching experience in many different subjects and teaching environments. As a supply teacher I have taught at over 30 different primary and secondary schools.

As a teacher of adults I have taught numeracy and English to many students over the last 5 years, including adults with learning difficulties.

As a private tutor I have taught Maths and English to all ages from 5 - 17, both at one to one level, and also in small groups.

I have extensive experience with 11 plus tuition and have a good knowledge of the content of exams for local grammar schools. I have received excellent feedback from parents. I work with small groups (6 maximum) at my home for 90 minute sessions after school. I methodically guide the students through the various types of test they need to master prior to taking the exam.

To sum up, I have helped many students improve their attainment levels, gain increased enjoyment from learning, and achieve excellent exam grades.

Create a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. The student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. One-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students' personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.

Depending on the student's needs and learning style I encourage students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don't lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students' homework for them!

With programming language my approach is first to make the student using various simple approaches like an algorithm or with a flow chart to solve it then once the confidence if built up to go to the syntax of the programming language. This approach not only will help you master any programming language quickly but improve ones analytical skills as well.
