Personal Description:
I am Spanish, from Catalonia, and came to England 8 years ago. It was the challenge of learning to speak English and the enjoyment that gradually came from speaking, reading and writing in English that first fuelled my passion for teaching languages.
I had studied Psychology and did a Master degree in Speech Therapy in Spain. Language in all its aspects has always fascinated me. I did the PGCE at Blackpool and Fylde College when I was a tutor at College
Quoting Charlemagne: To have another language is to possess a second soul.

Teaching Experience:

Private tuition: Individual and Groups
Lecturer in Spanish, Blackpool and the Fylde College. Sep 2004-Juny 2008
Spanish tutor for Blackpool Council 2006
Spanish tutor at the YMCA. St Annes. 2005
Non Vocational Spanish Tutor, Leisure and Learning, Blackpool and the Fylde College. 2004-2008
Teaching Spanish as an extracurricular activity at King Edwards and Queen Mary Junior School 2003

Tutoring Approach:

I see each learner (even in a group) as a unique individual with his/her needs, skills and previous experiences of learning. I accommodate my teaching to different learner styles and preferences and use different and wide-ranging of activities in my lessons.
I try to give feedback at the end of each session and suggest ways in which their work could improve.
I strongly believe in independent learning; the learner is an active part of the learning process and I act more as a facilitator than as a conventional teacher. I keep motivating his/her enthusiasm for the language through books, films, songs, news... and encouraging e-learning.
And most importantly, for me teaching is about teacher development: Continuous research, practice, sharing and reflection.

Personal Description:
I have taught mathematics for nearly 20 years and enjoy keeping up to date with lesson delivery, maintaining a keen interest in how we learn mathematics. I a I now do some private tuition at home in addition to working in a secondary school. I am a positive forward thinking tutor and have a good sense of humour.
I am reliable and committed to my students' progress.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching full time for over 15 years with a careers worth of experience in secondary mathematics up to and including A levels.
I am currently employed to teach part time where my results are usually pleasing for my students. For instance, in 2011's performance management, 100% of students from a class surpassed their target levels significantly, including many with double and three times expected progress.
I also now teach privately for the rest of the week from my home (please view the map for location)
I have enjoyed teaching some very gifted students as well as those who find the subject quite a challenge.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach most levels of mathematics and use an intuitive approach wherever possible. It has been noted that I explain concepts quite clearly and students can be surprised at the ease with which they pick up previously difficult concepts. I

I also prepare students for exams and offer guidance on exam technique.

I use a mix of worksheets, discussion, web based work and text books. Past exam papers and examiners reports may be used for exam preparation.

Often I work to compliment a student's school mathematics, bringing them confidence and an increased ability to communicate and therefore participate in a classroom setting.

Personal Description:
I specialize in helping students who have found it hard to fit in with normal class room life. My background in psychotherapy and counselling helps me build rapport and bring out the best in students who have had emotional problems at school.
I am concerned with education of the whole person, rather than cramming in knowledge just to get through that exam.

I teach poetry at the Ashmolean Museum, a branch of Oxford University, and bring a depth of understanding to my work with people from nine to ninety. I have four grown up children.

Teaching Experience:

BA Hons. PGCE 1974. I have taught in primary and secondary schools, as well as sixth form colleges and universities, including Oxford and the London School of Economics.. I have also taught in private schools and been a director of a school of counselling and psychotherapy. I have taught psychology at Abingdon and Witney College, and poetry in many Oxfordshire Schools. I teach poetry short courses for Oxford University at the Ashmolean museum. I teach both GCSE and IGCSE courses.

Tutoring Approach:

I will always do my best to help a student improve their exam performance, using my wide knowledge of psychology and counselling/coaching skills, as well as my subject knowledge. I most enjoy working with students who want to gain a deeper understanding of their subjects that will be of use to them in their real lives, rather than just to get through an exam. I am very good at building a rapport with students, and finding a way to bring the best out of their skill set.

Personal Description:
I am a PGCE trained Mandarin teacher across age groups and at different levels, from beginner to A Level. As an experienced Mandarin tutor, I enjoy teaching Chinese and get great satisfaction from the results I achieve with my pupils. Currently I teach Mandarin in a local secondary school and also tutor pupils of 4-18 years old at my home in Weybridge, in one to one, one to two, or small group settings. A Chinese graduate with a degree in the UK, I have lived here for 20 years and have great understanding of both cultures.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught at both private schools and state schools as a part of PGCE training and as a qualified teacher, with experience teaching Mandarin as a curriculum subject in both the primary and secondary sectors. I am fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. I tutor according to students' requirements: either gaining exposure from this up or coming language, learning basic daily conversations prior to travel, or preparing for GCSE and A Level examinations.

Tutoring Approach:

With excellent knowledge of cultural differences between China and UK, my approach to tutoring is practical and encouraging with a sense of humour. I can help pupils in a flexible, adaptive and tailored way as I understand every pupil is an individual with individual needs. I enjoy good relationships with my pupils and take great pleasure to obtain excellent results.

Personal Description:
After more than twenty years of proven experience as teacher, tutor and social worker with a psychological background I would be the right person for supporting you.

I achieved my UK teaching qualification (PTLLS Level 4, City & Guilds) in July 2012.

I have experience in teaching German, Maths and English since more than 25 years and all my students in the UK have improved at least 2 grades since I have been teaching them.

I have extensive experience in working with students from many backgrounds and abilities.

I demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and have a tremendous amount of empathy.

I deal with students patiently, to advise and support them in a respectful way and tailor my lessons to the individual needs and aims of the student.

Teaching Experience:

I have more than 20 years experience in tutoring, children and adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I have the ability to motivate children and make them mentally stronger.

I try to find their individual strengths, instead of emphasizing their weaknesses. In this way I support the self- confidence of the child, and enlarge the inner motivation to learn, to study - and to enjoy it.

Personal Description:
I am Matt, I've a Bsc(Hons)(1st), Cphys ,majoring Physics,Mathematics and Chemistry. Currently I am doing a PhD in Quantum Physics . I am very enthusiastic about teaching . its kind of a hobby of mine and its my ultimate passion. I believe I have enough qualifications and experience to be your tutor. As a human being I think I have enough patience and good sense of humor. and I am a good listener (*IF YOU WANT REFERENCES ARE AVAILABLE FROM MY STUDENTS). I have many hobbies and interests some of them are, Teaching, writing, Yoga, Meditation, Music, Traveling, Swimming, Archery, Kick boxing, Quantum Entanglement, Quantum Teleportation, BioPhysics, Epigenetics, building Power Amplifiers ,Telekinesis, Linux, Unix, C programming, General Relativity,.. etc. My First lesson would be free of charge.

Teaching Experience:

I've started teaching in 2005. Since then I have taught many students from different backgrounds with different abilities. and taught at different levels (up to undergraduate level, for many examination boards, AQA, EDEXEL,OCR, MEI, IB, JEB,CIE, IGCSE, etc. including home schooling students.) I think so far I have given my best to my students to reach their academic goals. I hope to do the same in the future. (*If you want References are available from my students)

Tutoring Approach:

I believe each student is unique. and as a tutor I respect that uniqueness .Basically my first step towards a new student would be, to understand his/her uniqueness , hence find the student's weakness and strengths . so I would be able to help the student to overcome his/her weakness and strengthen pupil's current knowledge.

I may use different styles of teaching methods, depending on the student's ability and attitude. My main method is "student first" method. That is, I would first listen to the student what he/she got to say about a particular problem. and then I would guide the student to work through that problem and come to the correct solution ( here the student will be actively involve in solving the problem than just listening to the tutor) . More often I would use everyday life experiences to explain what I teach. and I may use reductionism method . i.e. breaking down a large problem to small parts when its appropriate . This method can be very efficient dealing with problems in maths, physics and chemistry.

I have learnt through my tutoring experience, the main reasons why students achieve lower grades. they are...

*Lack of Knowledge and Understanding in fundamentals ,
*Lack of right practice ( Including Exam practice),
*Lack of time management skills in exam situations,
*Lack of knowledge and practice to recognize the keywords/key sentences in exam questions
*Lack of proper Writing Skills,
*Above factors would lead to Lower SELF CONFIDENCE
So I would put lot of emphasis on the above factors in my tutoring practice to give the maximum opportunity to my students to attain better grades.

Whatever approach I may use to teach , I will be always friendly and I will always be willing to help the student to overcome her/his weaknesses and sharpen the current knowledge.

I scored the following marks in my AISSCE (Indian A-level equivalent exam): Maths 95%, Chemistry 92%, Physics 90%, Computer Science (C++) 89%

Also, I have a band score of 8/9 in the IELTS exam (International English Language Testing System)

Teaching Experience:

I took advanced placement classes in Science which involved a lot of group study - different members of the group would learn topics and teach each other. Since I have fresh memories of my school days, I am capable of understanding how a newcomer's mind processes new concepts, and the pitfalls they encounter.

I also taught maths to my younger brother and my neighbour's kids for two years before coming to University.

Update: I've been teaching two A-level Physics and Maths students who I met through UKTutors for the past three months. I have been able to help them increase their confidence, and raise their test scores by about 10-15%

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring focuses on bringing out a sense of wonder and excitement when encountering the beauty of Science. I try not focus on the final result (grades), but instead try to teach the students how to think and approach new problems.

While this approach is less effective on a short-term, it is very good for the long-term. Once the student is motivated, they find the act of learning to be a pleasurable experience and rapidly rise to the top of their class.

I will primarily focus on clearing doubts about specific areas of the subject, or help with problem-solving rather than going through the entire course. I'm willing to travel, but ideally I would prefer to teach online over Skype.

Personal Description:
I am a second year Physics with Astrophysics student at the University of York. I am a confident, mature individual who is driven to be successful. I have a down to earth personality which will make me more relatable and easier to pass on my breadth of knowledge.

Teaching Experience:

The only experience I have with students was in my second year of college. In collaboration with the Maths department, I ran a peer mentoring session with first years every week. This was an hour long meeting in the library or a classroom with 5-6 students, where I would help them with topics they struggled with or go over some details from their lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the most important and effective way of learning is through practice of the subject. I would use the first part of a session to go over some important points to a topic and teach basic skills. Then put these into practice, going through questions, aided and unaided, including past paper questions.

Personal Description:
I am a 20 year-old undergraduate student in the University of Birmingham, following a degree in mathematics.

Teaching Experience:

In 2010-2012 I was the initiator of a volunteer project called 'Fairy tales in Pictures'. The project involved working, communicating and interacting with children with learning difficulties, playing games with them and teaching them to tackle different tasks. This was an opportunity to develop my communication and listening skills regarding various kinds of people, becoming extremely aware of the difficulties children can have with learning and understanding new things, and how these difficulties can be tackled.
I have helped my 11-year-old sister with her maths and English language-related lessons over the years. This has helped me understand children better and sense when they are in need for more training and explanation in particular areas. I have also helped friends' children with their problems, offering help, guidance and advice.

Tutoring Approach:

The key method to learning mathematics is by solving problems and dealing with examples. My approach is to give a clear explanation on the theory and then focus on different types of examples to help children understand things through practice. After several examples, I encourage children to attempt problems themselves at first, then ask questions and give small hints, guiding the child to obtain the correct answer as independently as possible. I give homework for children to practice their newly acquired knowledge, and I check if they've done the homework correctly on the next lesson.

Personal Description:
I am a tri-lingual (fluent in German and Spanish) King's College London PhD neuroscientist student with a desire to pass on my knowledge to others. I have previously tutored in person and received great feedback with students receiving mostly A*'s and A's. I believe that interacting and stimulation is the key to excellent tutoring. I welcome inquiries from anyone who would like extra, on-going tuition, help with general revision or assignments, or preparation for exams.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 10 years tutoring experience with only positive feedback. All my students have gained B and above and mostly A and A*

Tutoring Approach:

No doubt the most rewarding aspect is that when you start tutoring a person, who start out struggling, gradually develop an interest and understanding. It's truly inspiring to see how they can engage with a subject when a slightly different perspective is offered. I am quite an interactive tutor and put a lot into pre planning all my lessons and so far I have had massive success with my students. Just recently a girl who was predicted B's and C's, which is by no means bad, achieved 3 A*'s in all the subjects I tutored her in. I will be tutoring her for A levels as well and will hopefully try and help her achieve her dream of getting into medical school and becoming a doctor.

I am very enthusiastic and believe exam practice is extremely important because even if you have the knowledge without the actual exam practice often it is hard to achieve that A or A*.
