Personal Description:
I am someone who very much enjoys teaching and helping others to achieve their own personal best. It is very important to me that my students enjoy their lessons, continue improving in their ability and I am always happy to receive feedback on how the student feels throughout our work together.
As the mother of four grown children, the youngest being twenty four years old, I am someone who is very empathetic towards young people and adults who need my help. Together with my teaching, I work as a volunteer for two charities; this has given me a great deal of experience at working with others, helping them to the best of my ability.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a variety of schools, both State and Independent, have a great deal of experience at teaching English, preparing pupils for Common Entrance examinations and have co-ordinated English at Key Stages 3 and 4. I have also been in charge of co-ordinating PHSE and have been in charge of a Foundation Year for overseas students. Furthermore, I have a great deal of experience in teaching both able children and those who who have specific learning difficulties, helping them to grow in confidence and to realise that they can do well.
I have always been a popular and conscientious teacher and have helped many young people do very well in public and Common Entrance examinations, often helping them to achieve results they and their parents had only dreamed of. I am equally happy teaching young people and adults and I will endeavour to make any lessons I teach enjoyable and educational.

I have tutored for several years, and very much enjoy working in a one-to-one situation.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is a simple and effective one. I work out what a pupil needs and work hard to ensure that they achieve the right tuition to achieve their own personal best. I build up a good rapport with my students and have remained friends with many of my students and their parents since working with them. It is important that a student feels confident in their own ability and I always work hard to ensure that a student feels a great sense of achievement in what they do. My approach is enthusiastic, energetic and sympathetic, resulting in a good experience for those concerned who are working with me.

Personal Description:
Having graduated from university with a first class degree reading English, I am passionate about books and literature. I received 79% for my dissertation, where 80% is deemed worthy of academic publication and can provide a reference from my tutor to support this. I am a focused, determined, enthusiastic and willing individual with an aim to help students and adults engage and understand literature and the issues surrounding it.

I am currently employed as an Instructional Designer, building e-learning courses for schools, businesses and individuals. Due to this, I am more than able to teach people how to use Microsoft Office products, having lead and developed an approved ECDL course, which was provided to schools and businesses. The ECDL course consists of basic training on how to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access, alongside Outlook and the Internet.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a number of individuals using UK Tutors, from Primary level to Masters. In the summer of 2008, I spent nine weeks working with children and adults at a special needs camp in America. This experience was extremely rewarding and taught me the importance of patience and communication. I have recently returned from travelling where I taught at an underprivileged school in Cambodia.

Tutoring Approach:

Studying English Literature allows you to interpret a text in a number of different ways. Therefore my approach to tutoring will be tailored to the individual and their attitude and responsiveness to literature. I am patient and willing to explain things using a variety of different methods to ensure the student has a full understanding of the topic.

Personal Description:
Originally from Newcastle, I am now an actor and enjoy tutoring alongside my acting work. I have worked in TV, and also in theatre, including venues such as The National Theatre and the West End. Especially with younger students, I like to keep my lessons creative and practical. I studied English and Drama at Bristol University and then went on to train at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Recently, I have been tutoring in English, Drama, 11+ Common Entrance exams and general Primary school help.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for over 6 years. Alongside my tutoring, I am currently teaching Music and Drama in schools and I run workshops with Sixth Formers on ways of analysing texts practically.

7+ - I worked with Elektra (6) preparing her for 7+ Examinations. Covering English, Maths and Reasoning focussed on entry to Notting Hill and Ealing High School.

7+ - Working with Harry on English, Maths and exam technique, focussing him for 7+ exam for Dulwich Prep School. Harry has traits of both dyslexia and dyspraxia.

7+ - I work with Jules on his English. Jules is French and has just started attending a French school, so we are working to keep his English up to scratch. Main areas of focus are: speaking, spelling, listening/understanding and grammar.

7+ - Working with Charlie mainly on English, increasing his confidence in all areas but focussing on Writing, Grammar and Punctuation, and Comprehension.

11+ - Working with Guy on English and Maths one day a week. Mainly focussed on Guy's writing and spelling. Guy is preparing for entry to Westminster and Eton Schools.

11+ - I worked with Ingrid on English and Maths in preparation for exams for Notting Hill and Ealing High School, Francis Holland and Godolphin and Latymer Schools. Ingrid went to her first choice of Notting Hill and Ealing High.

11+ - I worked with Olivia in preparation for her Common Entrance exams on all papers (English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning) as well as interview practice. Olivia is now attending North London Collegiate School (her first choice) but I also prepared her for entrance to Highgate School for Girls, City of London School for Girls and Queen's College.

Primary Help - I worked with brothers Teddy (7) and Alfie (10) mainly on English and Maths but also across all subjects generally to improve knowledge, confidence, spelling and vocabulary.

Primary Help - I worked with Rohan (10) on improving his confidence and basic skills in English and Maths. Rohan was very inquisitive and keen but needed help focussing and answering the specific questions that he was being asked.

A Level English Literature (AQA) - worked with Oliver (17) helping with coursework on The Great Gatsby and the poetry of Keats and Larkin. Oliver achieved an A grade.

AS Level Drama (AQA) - helped Yasmin to explore the analysis of texts of Lady Windermere's Fan and A View From The Bridge in preparation for exams, in which she achieved an A.

GCSE English Literature - tutored Amy in preparation for coursework and exams. Texts: Lord of The Flies and A View From The Bridge.

Home Schooling - Inigo (6 when I started) had been getting reports of generally dropping behind in class work with a lack of concentration. I homeschooled him every Friday for two terms. He was having particular trouble in English and Maths. Inigo was struggling especially with English, in all areas, and was most behind with Spelling and Grammar. For him to engage, I had to be both creative (to keep him interested) but also quick as the plan was to get him into Kew Green Primary for the next academic year. We covered the basics of year 1 and ironed out any problems (also to give him confidence with the things he could do) and then went onto year 2. I would use a lot of what he was naturally interested in (football and particular comic book characters) in the teaching to keep his attention. With Maths, Inigo could do simple addition and subtraction but struggled when getting into 2 digits, multiplication, or any sort of wordy problem where the sum to be done was not absolutely clear. So, again, we covered the basics and then pushed on. He worked really hard and eventually we were looking forward to things he may encounter next year. At first Inigo was quite reluctant to work but I managed to win him over and build up a good rapport for productive days of homeschooling. Thankfully, he gained a place at Kew Green, and we were delighted! (Though it did mean, unfortunately, that he didn't need me any more...).

English for Foreign Learners - Helped 8 year old Augustinos (Greek) with reading and homework to improve English, as well as taking him on educational trips around London.

Drama (practical) - Coached Emily (21) and Hannah (20) with acting lessons in preparation for Drama School Entry auditions. Emily has now trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Hannah is training at LAMDA.

Voice and Elocution - Helped Law Student Amar (20) with speechmaking and projection for use in debating.

SEN - worked with Dean (20), a law student with dyslexia, upon exam preparation and practice.

Tutoring Approach:

I will tailor whatever I teach to my pupil's needs. I am very easy to get along with and very open to how you think you or your child will best learn. Above all I would want a pupil to look forward to my sessions with them so will make sure that they are practical, interesting and varied. Especially with the younger students I teach I think that lessons need to be fun to keep them excited about learning! If you have any questions at all or specific enquiries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Personal Description:
I have been a lecturer for the past 16 years at both college and university levels. Educated at the universities of London and Birmingham, I am an experienced tutor, teacher, lecturer and author of articles, reviews and a recent book. An historian by training, I am also interested in literature, politics and cultural studies.

My experience of education was incredible, but it might not have been were it not for the motivation and support that I received from a number of outstanding lecturers I had. It was their example that led me to start teaching and I have found that helping others to learn and achieve academic success gives enormous job satisfaction.

I believe every student has unrealised potential and that with the right approach, all can succeed. I am flexible and believe in helping my students to find a learning style which suits them and enables them to succeed. I have a lot of energy and enthusiasm and besides teaching and writing, my interests include keeping abreast of current affairs, playing cricket and listening to world music.

Teaching Experience:

I tutor a variety of subjects at a range of levels including GCSE, AS, A Level, and Degree in addition to adult learners requiring support. I have experience of teaching students from a variety of cultural backgrounds. I have mentored post-graduate students and proof-read theses and dissertations.

I have over 15 years experience teaching and have taught in classrooms and universities in the United Kingdom and abroad. My students come from a wide range of different age groups and backgrounds and I pride myself on helping all of them to succeed. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a faculty member of the Foundation for International Education, London and Richmond, the American International University in London.

Tutoring Approach:

One of my main aims in tutoring is to stimulate an interest in learning, by making the topic as relevant in contemporary terms as possible. Most of the subjects I tutor, from history to religious studies have current and on-going social consequences. I have found that making an other wise dry topic of relevance to a student awakens an interest and desire to learn more. It is those inspirational moments when students become aware of the linkages between what they have read, and what is going on around them that makes tutoring particularly satisfying. This coupled with a growing ability to think critically, usually translates into enhanced coursework grades.

My approach to teaching is based on two fundamental bases. The first is that it is absolutely essential to find contentment in the learning process. This may not come through the actual material that needs to be learnt and it is up to the tutor to inspire in the student the self-assurance to succeed. As your tutor, I will lay down the learning structure and will cement this through detailed lesson plans. The second basis is that supervised practise testing is very important. This needs to be followed by a thorough assessment of the results, in order to understand where improvements need to be made, in both knowledge and approach.

At the younger end, I create a fun learning environment and aim to enhance originality, conscientiousness and self-assurance in the child's ability. In the longer term, I concentrate on problem areas which may have been skated over in class. For more senior students and adult learners, the same principles apply in terms of tailoring lessons to the individual. I mix core concepts with more general study skills and encourage each student to find their own way of independent learning. I am a patient, hard-working and open individual who strives to get the best out of each student and help them achieve their learning objectives. As your tutor I will be available outside of teaching time to answer questions by email and phone, there will be no extra cost for this service.

Personal Description:
I am a hardworking, enthusiastic and trustworthy individual with vast experience of working in the education sector and with 16/19 year olds in particular.

I am self-motivated, an excellent communicator and adaptable to the needs of the individual student.

I have always been committed to providing a high quality educational experience. I enjoy working with young people and take considerable pride in being involved in their progression to higher education and being able to assist them in their objective.

Teaching Experience:

As a Law teacher of over 30 years experience I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge with regard to the subject matter of the courses. I have attended a number of meetings with representatives of the Exam Boards and have familiarised myself with their marking schemes. With such experience comes the ability to "spot" the likely questions to be asked in the final exams.

Over the years the exam results of my students in A Level Law have been excellent. The A2 results have almost always been over 90% and I have in fact achieved a 100% pass rate on more than one occasion.

I have regularly attended conferences held at Cambridge University at which A Level Law teachers from all over the country were updated on their subject and given the opportunity to question the Chief Examiners of the various Exam Boards.

Tutoring Approach:

My experience of teaching on a range of courses means that I am able to adapt to the needs of individual learners.

One of my strongest characteristics is my ability to motivate. I have had students come to me lacking any confidence whatsoever and being very unsure about themselves. Many have subsequently pursued degree courses at University and quite a significany number are now in the legal profession.

I always endeavour to maintain the students' awareness and understanding of key issues affecting the subject of Law. To this end I encourage them to read quality newspapers and to extract relevant information from the Internet.

As a Law teacher it is essential to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. I have the ability to clearly explain both legal concepts and case examples.

Personal Description:
***CURRENTLY LIVING IN GERMANY & AVAILABLE FOR ENGLISH CHECKING (BY E-MAIL) ONLY****

I am a professional in my 30s with degrees in English & Italian Literature (BA 2:1, Warwick 2000) and the History of Medicine & Science (MA Merit, Birkbeck College, University of London). I also hold a CELTA qualification in teaching English Language to adults.

Following my masters degree I studied acting at Rose Bruford College and have performed at fringe venues in London and Belfast though tend now to concentrate on writing for the stage. My book of dramatic monologues, "Untold Lives" was published last year and is now available on Amazon. My first novel, "And I Shall Be Healed" was published by Quickbeam Press in January 2014,

Proof-editing: contact for rates.

In addition to teaching I also offer a proof-reading service so for university essays / research proposals / writing projects, please do contact me for rates.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently living and working as a CELTA qualified EFL teacher in Bonn, Germany. In addition I have 9 years private tutoring experience. Much of this was tutoring GCSE students in English Literature with some history and A'Level students.

In addition to this I hold a CELTA qualificatin and have taught English language at summer schools in Italy.

I hold a CRB.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to proof-editing / English checking is to look primarily at the language. For some clients - university students in particular - it is not appropriate to offer an editorial service as this goes against the rules of university submissions. However, where I think a mistake has been made or something is not clearly expressed - and it is not a simple matter of correcting the language - then I will flag it up to the student so they can look at it again.

My main aim with students is to build their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject. To this end I concentrate on teaching the skills they require to achieve the grades they want. My role is not to replace the teaching they get at school but to compliment it so a tutoring session could concentrate on planning an essay the student has been asked to write or going through specific areas the student needs help with. I won't necessarily give homework - unless required - as I feel students have enough to do without me adding to their workload.

In return I expect my students to engage with the sessions. They don't have to like the subject and of course I'm there to help those who don't understand some things or just need a little help or encouragement, but the student must be prepared to be tutored.

Personal Description:
I'm 25 years old, a graduate of the University of London (BA, MA), an amateur journalist, and full-time tutor with around two years' experience.

As part of my MA Classics degree, I received a distinction in Latin, and continue to enjoy studying and teaching both Latin and ancient Greek.

Teaching Experience:

* Latin *

Extensive experience in teaching prep-school, GCSE, A-level and degree-level Latin to ages ranging between 7yrs to 40+.

Currently tutoring and preparing a pupil to take the Latin scholarship paper for Westminster School, and have had pleasing results from former pupils at a higher level, with a recent GCSE pupil receiving an A under my tuition and a degree-level pupil going from c 40% to c 65% after only c 5 hours of tuition.

* Ancient Greek *

Currently tutoring a gap-year pupil in beginner's ancient Greek in preperation for the start of a classics degree in 2015.

Tutoring Approach:

I use the first lesson to assess the extent of the pupil's grammatical knoweldge by asking for the recitation of tables and perhaps a translation of small piece of prose or verse, matched in difficulty to the pupil's level.

After this assessment, the following lessons are based around the needs of the pupil, with practice questions and passages forming the basis of our learning.

Imperative to my lessons are a sense of humour and frequent chats - this provides relief, which in turn stimulates concentration, and allows for a rapport to to be built with the pupil.

Some previous references:

"He is patience, sympathetic, and good in tailoring his teaching method to suit the need and ability level of his student. He is currently helping my son to prepare for the 13 plus common entrance scholarship exams for Latin and English, of whom is aiming for the Westminster School in 2016, year 9 entry.

Anthony has a good sense of humour and a very relaxed manner, that makes my kid feeling easy and comfortable to work on the subjects. A wonderful kind tutor who encourage and motivate my child to achieve the best. My son is the top of his year in Latin since Year 6, 100 per cent creditability to Anthony.

I would have no hesitations to recommending Anthony."

"An extremely engaging and enthusiastic character; his ardour delicately forces the student to love the discipline for themselves, and he has greatly increased my personal interest in the subjects of Latin and Classics. Not much I can think to fault by ways of teaching, would highly recommend."

"Anthony helped my son over the holidays with some grammar he was finding difficult. He fitted us in at short notice and went out of his way to be helpful - running off sheets and practice questions in the target areas. Would thoroughly recommend Anthony, he's patient and gets his message across clearly and effectively."

"Has wonderful personality that makes it easier to listen to him and at the same time enjoy the lessons. He helped me a lot with my essays when it came to the structure which is essential in the Grade A criteria. Highly recommendable."

Please note that for pupils outside a three mile radius of my house and who require my travelling to them, there is an additional charge for travelling expenses/time taken in addition to my standard hourly rate. This is negotiated with the client before details are exchanged.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a PhD in the law school at the University of Glasgow. My research is interdisciplinary and spans three areas: criminal justice - specifically jury research; critical pedagogy - specifically Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed and interactive theatre - specifically Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed. I have a rich experience in life having previously worked for 10 years in the music business as a classical clarinet player. I have travelled extensively and have lived and worked as a teacher in Singapore. I am passionate about teaching and where possible use critical pedagogy as a means to develop the best in each student that I meet. I am a relaxed personality and I believe that where dialogue is enabled between teacher and student a critical awareness of the subject can be achieved. I believe in encouraging each student to discover his best self in his educational journey.

Teaching Experience:

I have a great deal of teaching experience which covers all age ranges and abilities. When working in Singapore I worked as a teacher of children aged 5-12 at the Julia Gabriel Speech and Drama centre as well as developing the music course at the sister pre-school, Chiltern House where I worked with younger children aged between 3 and 4 years. In Scotland I have worked as a tutor and lecturer at the University of Glasgow Law School teaching criminal law and evidence to first year LLB students; at Strathclyde University I have been the course coordinator for contract law and a tutor for criminal law, evidence and criminology, each course was for LLB and LLB hons students. I was the course coordinator for criminal law and family law at the University of the West of Scotland and I have worked as a tutor at Glasgow Caledonian University in Glasgow. I current;y work as a Study Skills Tutor at the University of Glasgow where I support students who may have dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, ADHA, asbergers or any number of mental health issues, in their university studies.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that each person has the ability to grow and become empowered through education. I have a relaxed and critical approach to tutoring. I believe that people are able to develop their own skills and potential when dialogue is established. I see my part as the tutor as key in encouraging the student to develop his best self. I have experience working with a diversity of people and I know that through developing a space where a person believes in himself a positive attitude to achieving the best results is possible. I am a very patient and versatile character and I am unafraid of adapting my style to suit the needs of the students.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Tara. I recently graduated from The University of Sheffield, receiving First Class Honours in French and Hispanic Studies, with a Distinction in Spoken Spanish. I have over two years` experience in one-to-one tutoring of students between GCSE and degree level, and understand the importance of adapting materials to the needs of individual learners.

Teaching Experience:

I have been learning French for 12 years, and Spanish for over 9 years, and would be delighted to apply my extensive knowledge of both these languages. I am able to explain grammatical and more technical points to students, and can also provide the opportunity for speaking practice outside of the classroom environment, which I understand can be very daunting! In the third year of my degree, I spent 6 months working in Paris, France and 4 months in Nicaragua. I am happy to share my experience of living abroad, as well as respond to any concerns about spending time in French- and Spanish-speaking countries

Whilst at college, I was responsible for tutoring students in GCSE English and Maths. This was a role I pursued during my time at University where I was an English learning mentor. I am able to explain technical points in Maths, as well as grammatical points in English, and resolve any issues regarding textual analysis and literary context.

Tutoring Approach:

I think it's really important to produce learning materials that are tailored to tutees' individual needs. I prefer to adopt a hands on approach, with pen and paper, and encourage my students to take note of what they're learning (whether on paper or using other methods). I am conscientious of the importance of constantly engaging with my tutees, and allowing for consistent two-way communication.

I also value the importance of feedback, and after every session ask my tutees whether there are any elements they would like me to change, remove or add in the following session. I consider myself very flexible in my approach, and am also aware that every learner is different. I make every effort to be as accommodating as possible.

Personal Description:
Hello and welcome to my tutor profile! Here I'll try to answer to the questions you could have before booking a session with me.

- Let's start with my teaching system.
I am familiar with tutoring face-to-face (6 years) and online (+3 years). I have been part of a research which involves language teaching and technology, and I am right now studying a Masters' Degree in Online Education and Virtual Course Design. I use a wide range of visual tools to make lessons more appealing (virtual whiteboard, Google Drive, etc.) and have a personal platform to connect all my students.

- How do I speak?
I have a language certificate for working in the media, so my diction and elocution skills are very good. In case you wondered, I have a clear standard accent from Spain (and an Occidental accent in Catalan).

- How am I going to make you improve your language skills?
Let me be honest: I am a language learner myself, so I know the key is practice, practice... and practice! But I have good news for you: I'm here to help you with it in the most fun possible way, without forgetting about the cultural aspect of the language. Of course we'll see grammar (it is necessary), but always in a very practical context and according to your needs.

- How about session types?
This is absolutely up to you! From exam preparation, grammar, writing and conversation to the most advanced rules of ortotypography (I am a proofreader). This is the good part of teaching one-to-one, that I can tailor my lessons to your needs and learning style. You set your goal, I design a specific lesson plan!

Do you still have any questions? Then please get in touch, I'll be happy to help!

Teaching Experience:

I've been teaching Spanish and Catalan for +3 years in a famous language platform. During this time, I have given more than 1000 online lessons to +180 students, with 100% attendance and positive feedback. References available upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

CONVERSATION
It doesn't matter if you're new to the magic of this beautiful language or if you've been studying it for ages (and secretly admit that you never took it seriously).

It doesn't matter if you don't know any other language or if you already speak 7 of them fluently.

It doesn't matter if you're 10 or 78.

Do you want to learn Spanish now? Then, that is all that matters.

Just let me know your goal and I'll create a path for us to follow. Learn some new expressions? Vocabulary related to a specific field (e.g. business Spanish)? Maybe you'd like to practise that complicated grammar structure you're struggling with? Or do you want to communicate effectively in a job interview or during a trip to Spanish-speaking countries? Doesn't matter how specific they are, let me know your language wishes and I'll make them happen.

____

ACCENT REDUCTION
Do you have a special interest in perfecting your accent in Spanish? Do you want to roll your [r] like Spanish people do? To follow specific training on a certain sound? In my university research (2014) I have proved that it is possible to do so via Skype, and this is actually the field I specialise in. In this course, I will diagnose your speech, prepare individualised exercises tailored to your needs and create a path for you to follow in order to achieve your phonetic goals.

If you're curious about this type of training, I can provide the reference of one of my students, who trained very hard and in around 2 months was able to roll her [r], or another student, who could improve her prosody and expressivity in only two sessions. Don't hesitate to send a message if you're interested or have any questions!

Personal Description:
I am primarily an animal portrait artist who works on a commission basis but I also enjoy painting other subject matter. My favourite medium is pastels as I love the soft effects that can be achieved, especially when dealing with fur. I work privately from my studio facility, which is part of an artist's network in central Hadleigh as well as teaching in people's homes and I also deliver workshops to art groups around Essex.

I exhibit locally and have had work accepted at the Mall Gallery in London. My latest commission was to produce a mural in conjunction with a local primary school. I also have several years experience of working with children in all age groups.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching one-to-one sessions over the last three years from beginners to intermediate and teaching in groups within a workshop session. I have experience of teaching both children and adults in a wide range of mediums, with the ability to differentiate the work if needed.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is very supportive and encouraging. I like to put people at their ease, with friendly surroundings, so that they can savour the lesson and gain experience. My goal is to teach my students techniques in both drawing and understanding colour so they can ultimately develop their own style. There is the opportunity to try a range of mediums and learn the skills associated with each.
