Personal Description:
I am Spanish, from Catalonia, and came to England 8 years ago. It was the challenge of learning to speak English and the enjoyment that gradually came from speaking, reading and writing in English that first fuelled my passion for teaching languages.
I had studied Psychology and did a Master degree in Speech Therapy in Spain. Language in all its aspects has always fascinated me. I did the PGCE at Blackpool and Fylde College when I was a tutor at College
Quoting Charlemagne: To have another language is to possess a second soul.

Teaching Experience:

Private tuition: Individual and Groups
Lecturer in Spanish, Blackpool and the Fylde College. Sep 2004-Juny 2008
Spanish tutor for Blackpool Council 2006
Spanish tutor at the YMCA. St Annes. 2005
Non Vocational Spanish Tutor, Leisure and Learning, Blackpool and the Fylde College. 2004-2008
Teaching Spanish as an extracurricular activity at King Edwards and Queen Mary Junior School 2003

Tutoring Approach:

I see each learner (even in a group) as a unique individual with his/her needs, skills and previous experiences of learning. I accommodate my teaching to different learner styles and preferences and use different and wide-ranging of activities in my lessons.
I try to give feedback at the end of each session and suggest ways in which their work could improve.
I strongly believe in independent learning; the learner is an active part of the learning process and I act more as a facilitator than as a conventional teacher. I keep motivating his/her enthusiasm for the language through books, films, songs, news... and encouraging e-learning.
And most importantly, for me teaching is about teacher development: Continuous research, practice, sharing and reflection.

Personal Description:
I am a Norwich based fully qualified teacher available to teach Spanish and Danish. I moved to Spain from Denmark with my parents when 8 years old. Since the local private English School was oversubscribed I was sent to a mainstream Spanish school. A shock to the system but I am so happy that this experience taught me Spanish with the right grammar, spelling and pronunciation. Something I could have not learned in the most accomplished language school. It was the real stuff with the real sun, beach, culture and food. 10 year later I moved back to Copenhagen/Denmark and 6 years down the line to England. In London I gained my degree and PGCE in order to become a fully qualified Teacher

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified teacher with 10 years experience. I offer following:

SPANISH TUITION: Lived ten years in Spain and gone through the Spanish schooling system. As it was not my mother tongue I can relate to the challenges that come with learning a new language. Have taught from beginners to more advanced.

DANISH TUITION: I have had great success in using my ten years teaching experience to teach my mother tongue. Once again it can be at any level from beginners to advanced.

Tutoring Approach:

With my many years of teaching experience I have found that inspiration and discipline is key. A balance in between the two make a great student that will be able to take these skills to a professional level if they wish. Moreover, I believe everybody has got the ability to learn a language if they are willing put in the work. My approach is mainly based on conversation as I have found again and again that this will not only help the students vocabulary but their grammar as well. Last but not least I offer a friendly and relaxed teaching environment.

Personal Description:
I'm a 41 year old man with over 16 years experience of teaching Chemistry. I hold a BSc degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry and a Certificate of teaching in the life-long learning sector (CTLLS). I have done private tutoring in chemistry up to A level since 1997. I have taught students privately ranging from KS3 to first year undergraduate level. A few of those I taught GCSE had no hope of passing but went on to achieve grade As and proceeded to study 'A' level Chemistry. Those I taught 'A' level improved their achievement to surpass their university entry requirements for the degree courses of their choice. Many of them always made comments like, 'Wonderful explanations', 'I have understood what I have been missing all along', 'You are an excellent teacher- you made the concepts so easy for me to understand'.

I am very passionate about my teaching because I know I'll be influencing the lives of my students for the good. I always teach my students to reflect upon their performance and make the maximum effort to teach them to learn. I aim to enthuse and inspire every student about chemistry that passes through my hands helping them to find an explanation of why they are studying the subject. If they can find the reason then they can be motivated to work on the course and stick with it when the going gets tough.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching 'A' Level Chemistry since 1993. I have taught the following specifications: 1. ORC A level Chemistry A from 1993 - 2003 and then 2007 to date;
2. OCR A level Chemistry (Salters B) 2003 - 2006
3. AQA A level Chemistry 2004 - 2005 (privately)
4. IB Diploma Chemistry 2008 to date
5. AQA GCSE Chemistry 2006-2007 then 2008 to date

Tutoring Approach:

I always start with an initial assessment to find out the needs of the student which I have been called to satisfy. The session involves question and answer session over the phone or face to face and a short exercise which I will assess and feedback during the session with the student. I can travel to the student's house or better still they can come to mine. At regular intervals e.g. fortnightly I always ask for feedback about the progress of the lessons so that everything I will be teaching them matches their needs. I give assignments and tests under exams conditions to test how my students will perform in the exam and always communicate with the parents of the progress their son/daughter will be making. If I notice the conditions I will be teaching the student particularly at their home are not conducive for me to maximally discharge my service to them, I will politely ask them to address the situation or find another tutor. This is rare though.

Personal Description:
I have worked in education all my adult life, and ten years ago embarked upon a freelance career which has enabled me to focus on the kind of work I love, and to spend more time with my family, and do the things I most enjoy.

As an English graduate, my greatest passion is literature. I read a wide range of novels, drama and poetry. Authors I have recently enjoyed include Ian McEwan, Philip Pullman, Helen Dunmore, Kazuo Ishiguro... too many to mention!

I spend a lot of time writing and completed a six month course in novel writing with the Faber Academy on which I was delighted to be offered a place. I have had a number of articles and short stories published, and am working on my first novel. I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism with the London School of Journalism, and am also qualified in proof-reading and sub-editing.

Teaching Experience:

My first job was teaching English to young speakers of other languages during the summer vacations when I was at University - many years ago!

After I graduated in English I qualified as a teacher. My first full-time post was in a sixth-form college, where I taught English at a variety of levels to A-level and University entrance. After two further full-time teaching posts in a 14-19 secondary school and another sixth-form college, I moved into Adult and Community Education. During much of this time I also took on a number of part-time posts, tutoring English, English to Speakers of other Languages, Creative Writing and General Studies in a university extra-mural department, the Workers Education Association and in a number of prisons. I served on the English A-level set books committee of a national examinations board, and have worked as a part-time examiner.

For the past ten years I have been working as a freelance education consultant, trainer and writer. Much of my education consultancy and training work has involved facilitating and coaching young people and professionals in a variety of contexts and a range of subject areas such as communication skills, business writing skills and writing for the media.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer distance and online tutoring, using Skype, telephone and email. When I am working with students in this way I provide them with extensive and constructive feedback on their written work, enabling them to understand how they can improve their coursework and achieve the skills and confidence necessary to write succinct and relevant essays required for examinations. Many of the students whom I have supported have achieved top grades in GCSEs, A-levels and degrees.

I firmly believe that we only learn effectively when we find the learning experience interesting, relevant and meaningful. My first priority is to endeavour to ensure that students are having that kind of experience! I also believe that learning should be enjoyable and fun. Sometimes, of course, learning is about studying things we are not so interested in just to get through an exam - a means to a hopefully more enjoyable end. In that case I help students to find the most effective ways for them to do just that - and hope that even this might be enjoyable too!

I do not believe that good teaching is about pouring knowledge into students, but is about drawing learning out of them and supporting them to teach themselves. We all have huge areas of strength, skill and wisdom, and I always try to enable students to recognise theirs and to develop them to their fullest potential.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL NOT WRITE STUDENTS' ESSAYS FOR THEM, WHICH I HAVE SOMETIMES BEEN ASKED TO DO!

Personal Description:
I charge £30 per hour or £50 for a 2-hour slot. I specialise in maths at A/AS level and degree level. I can tutor either in my house or elsewhere in the area.

I have a first class maths degree and a maths PhD from the University of St Andrews. I also have A* grades in GCSE maths and additional maths and A grades in A level maths and further maths.

Teaching Experience:

While studying for my doctorate I tutored small groups and one-to-one for a number of undergraduate courses. This focussed on question practice following lecture material, and included further discussion and explanation of the theory.

Since leaving university I have tutored A/AS level and degree level maths. This has covered pure maths, applied maths and statistics. This has included a range of exam boards, including Edexcel, AQA and OCR, and my tutees have had excellent success rates in their exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a flexible approach to tutoring and am keen to be guided by the tutee's aims and learning style.

If you are aiming for specific exams then the exam syllabus and practice of all past paper questions would be the main focus, as this is crucial for success. If you are struggling with certain areas of the theory then I would spend time in further explanation and discussion, clarifying the material and ensuring that you have a solid basis of knowledge to apply in examinations.

Personal Description:
I am a recently retired teacher with over 30 years combined experience in further education, independent and maintained secondary schools. I am now based in a beautiful part of Norfolk, where I paint, give private tuition and run an art club.
My own work is based on observations of mans' intervention in the landscape. I work in oils, water colour, digital photography and print.
My interests in art and design are many and varied, and include, in no particular order, sculpture/ceramics (Moore, Gormley, Perry), photography (Cartier-Bresson and LaChapelle), graphic design (Brody, Bauhaus), and painting (Freud, Klimt, Giotto, Picasso).

Teaching Experience:

My first foray into teaching was in further education as a visiting lecturer in graphic design and illustration. Subsequently, I trained as a secondary school teacher and quickly became head of my first department in a boys grammar school. From there I moved into the independent sector, continuing to work successfully as head of department and head of faculty.
I have extensive experience as a senior regional moderator for GCSE examinations in art and design with a leading examinations board, being responsible for supervising the work of a team of visiting moderators in the south east of England, and for resolving disputes with schools. I do voluntary work for the National Trust, giving occasional talks to schools on symbolism in Tudor portraits.

Tutoring Approach:

Having started my career as a graphic designer I had, by necessity, to broaden my experience and skills into other two and three-dimensional media in order to become a successful teacher. My departments had outstanding results at GCSE and A-level, and many of my students went on to study at many of the principal art institutions, including Central St Martins, Chelsea, Glasgow, Edinburgh.
Teaching is about finding the unique personality of the individual and finding ways to encourage its expression. Allied to developing the imaginative and creative abilities is the need to create opportunities to build on existing technical skills and introduce new ones. The combination should be fun.

Personal Description:
My passion for teaching started in 2008, having qualified as a teacher at University in Madrid. After a pedagogic practice in an Secondary Bilingual School I moved to France, where I have recently graduated in French and Spanish Linguistics.

Last year I finished a master's degree in French Applied Language in the Sorbonne University and the Paris Trade Chamber, where I trained in didactics of Specific French (business, scientific, hotel trade, etc).

I'm a very enthusiastic teacher, able to find the talent hidden in every student.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience includes two years as a Modern Foreign Language teacher with Learnissimo, training individual from different sectors (enterprises as Danone, Tompress), three years in Primary and Secondary schools and a six months internship in the French Institute in Madrid.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching method for is based on tasks and the PPP paradigm (presenting a subject, practicing by repetition, matching or filling and producing in the context of a particular task). This approach allows the students to learn by practicing in their real communication situations and to progress in a very short time!

The type of materials I use are generally design by myself, using authentic documents as reports, conversation recordings, emails, hand outs and I also use general linguistics and grammar manuals and essays to support my research

Using a task-based approach, you will be focusing in particular missions and I will give you the tools to accomplish them and I will be designing a individualized programme from your personal or professional targets.

Basically, this is a very practical methodology based on learning by doing.

Personal Description:
I am a University student currently studying undergraduate Psychology at Staffordshire University.
I am reliable, friendly and very enthusiastic about teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored GCSE level and below students while studying for GCSE's as well as while studying for my A-Levels informally.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that students don`t all think the same way and what method of learning might work for one student may not work for all students. I try as much as I can to cater to individuals to ensure they get the most out of my sessions.
I believe that with the right teaching and motivation, students can gain appreciation for any subject and enjoy rather than just endure the learning process.

Personal Description:
I am a 35 year old qualified maths teacher, living in Beeston. After university I worked for 11 years in IT, which included having to explain technical processes to non-technical people. This helped me learn how to explain concepts in different ways to help someone understand, and to have the patience to keep trying new methods to do so.
I then changed careers to education, and worked as a teaching assistant, with an emphasis on maths and science.
I am also an experienced church bell ringer, and have taught a number of new ringers around Nottingham, from the age of 8 to about 60, getting on well with all groups.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in Trent College, Long Eaton, and Hind Leys, Shepshed, as part of my teacher training. After that I taught in West Bridgford School for two terms, and came to find that I most enjoyed and was most effective at one on one tuition, both for general maths understanding and for exam preparation.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor tutoring sessions to each student, after establishing their current knowledge level and requirements from the tuition. I aim to work with the student to help them achieve their goals, whether that be towards a specific exam or to help with general maths understanding. I am flexible with location and time, and enthusiastic about sharing my love of maths with others.
