Personal Description:
I have Special Needs University qualifications and counseling skills, which enables me to tutor students that may encounter emotional difficulties in their learning. I believe that motivation is the key factor to tutoring, as it needs to be addressed continuously in the process of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for the past 14 years preparing students for +11, +13 exams in English and Maths. I also teach Maths up to AS level (C1 and C2).

I am a certified therapist in PhonoGraphix method for addressing spelling and reading difficulties both for children and adults.

I could also help with learning computers (ECDL syllabus including usage of Word, PowerPoint, Internet, Excel).

Tutoring Approach:

I have Special Needs University qualifications and counselling skills, which enables me to tutor students that may encounter emotional difficulties in their learning. I believe that motivation is the key factor to tutoring, as it needs to be addressed continuously in the process of learning.

As a tutor, I encourage my students to reflect upon their mistakes and to understand how to tackle the next step of their learning, without having a negative response.

I usually have the first lesson together with the parents so that the student feels comfortable and parents can observe my teaching; I present a folder containing the CRB form, qualifications, QTS certificate and letters of recommendations from parents. I teach from home in a calm and stimulating environment.
The first lesson is only paid if the parent decides to continue tuition.

Personal Description:
I have a passion for the English language and its literature which is reflected in my work. I really enjoy tutoring, because I know the one-to-one learning situation gives students the attention and focus which they need to improve, and which they cannot get in school. I am a parent, a published poet and occasional actor. I only work in West Yorkshire, up to 12 miles' drive from my home, but I will offer discounts to students willing to travel to me..

Teaching Experience:

I have 30 years' experience of teaching English to kids of varying backgrounds and abilities (11 to 18 up to A level) so I have built up an extensive bank of resources over the years, which I use to carefully prepare for lessons. I am also an experienced examiner for AQA, which offers valuable insights into exactly how to achieve high GCSE grades . I have been tutoring successfully for five years now, and my knowledge and expertise would be very useful to students aiming at high marks in GCSE and A level exams. Recently, I have helped a pupil win a scholarship to high-achieving independent QEGS in Wakefield, and others to gain entrance to grammar schools

Tutoring Approach:

I am patient, friendly and easy to get on with. I have always tried to make my lessons interesting, relevant and inter-active. I tailor my teaching to the pupil and know that praise and encouragement are the keys to confidence and progress. A good sense of humour is vital, too.
I have helped to improve the grades of many pupils, some of whom have achieved the highest grade at GCSE, and have coached younger ones through entrance exams to sought-after schools. One student, whom I tutored for three years, progressed from a poor level 4 in year 8 to GCSE grade B, the minimum requirement for A levels in many good schools, while others have achieved the A* grades required for their chosen paths.
I have achieved high ratings from the parents of students I have tutored. A good tutor can make a difference with focused one-to-one attention, and I am a good, committed tutor.

Personal Description:
I am a professional actor and graduate from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and have been working in the private tuition industry for over seven years for various agencies, most prominently The Tutors Group. Before drama school I worked as a Primary School teaching assistant and drama teacher for two years, after graduating from King's College London with a 2:1 in my BA (Hons) English Literature & Language degree. I went straight to university from Norwich High School for Girls in Norfolk. So I have travelled all the way across England in my pursuit of study! I always wanted to tutor because I knew how I worked for all my GCSEs, A-Levels and my BA, and I was fed up with the media claiming exams were getting easier for kids: teenagers today work super hard, as I did! Tutoring older students also provided a lovely contrast to my Primary School teaching. I am also on the Directory certified teachers for LAMDA examinations.

Teaching Experience:

Dog Kennel Hill Primary School
Teaching Assistant and Special Needs Support
Oct 2008 - Present

During the morning session, I am currently working in a Year One class in this south London school and thriving on aiding the children specifically with their literacy, reading and speaking skills as well as exploring numeracy work.
I lead certain lessons including story time and circle time.
I support key groups of children within the class and am able to use my initiative to plan, deliver and assess their learning in order to encourage progression.
I have vast experience in creating my own resources using ICT, and creating artistic displays to proudly exhibit the children's work.
I have taken courses in Early Literacy Support, encouraging creative and inclusive teaching especially for children with English as an additional language and complex special needs children. I also have training in "Letters and Sounds" Phonics, and "A First Workshop on Autism".
During the afternoon session, I support a child in Year Two with Autism. I plan and prepare all his lessons, working towards targets which I and the class teacher have set for him; these include phonics, counting and social skills. I use music as a reward system for the boy, and his singing has greatly improved his speech quality and communication skills.
I have extensive training in Autistic Spectrum Conditions, undertaken with Southwark, covering various aspects including history, sensory integration and behavioural management.
I work with various children with complex special needs within school, including children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Galactosemia, and have worked closely with speech and language therapists and learning mentors.
I offer one to one support outside of lesson time in the form of music lessons for special needs children; I prepare and provide my own resources and find singing with my students extremely rewarding.
I am in the process of setting up an after-school drama club for Key Stage One students at the school, having directed the infant school Christmas play this and last year.
I have also spent time in Key Stage Two classrooms, focussing on aiding older children with their literacy skills: I particularly enjoyed aiding Year Six students in exploring literary themes and using appropriate critical vocabulary when studying children's literature.

Stage Coach Theatre Arts
Early Years and Drama Teacher
Jan 2009 - Present
I am currently working in the Beckenham Junction branch of Stage Coach: using games and prepared resources, I teach my Early Stages children elementary levels of dance, drama and singing, allowing them to develop their confidence levels both on and off the stage. I have written and directed several productions for the children to perform over the year, showcasing their talents to their proud parents.
Since September I have taken on the role of drama teacher for the elder children aged six to sixteen. Through games, improvisation and text work, my students are encouraged to enjoy and improve their passion and talent for theatre in an open and safe environment.

The Tutors Group
Private Tutor
Sep 2008 - Present
In contrast to my primary school teaching experience, my private tutoring allows me to help young people of an older age and greater intellectual development further their learning.
I teach English Literature and Language, History, Theatre Studies and Classical Studies, from Primary, to GCSE and A-Level, Degree level and beyond.
I aid my students in improving their essay structure, spelling and grammar and discussing key thematic and conceptual elements of their required texts.
I plan and prepare lessons and constantly assess students, ensuring they receive high quality tutorage.

Classroom Teachers
Teaching Assistant
Sep 2008 - Oct 2008
I received thoroughly positive feedback from the schools in which I temporarily taught in the weeks preceding my permanent employment at Dog Kennel Hill; colleagues reported me as reliable, enthusiastic and hard-working, and possessing excellent interaction skills with the children themselves.
I gained vast experience with nursery and reception children, thriving on working with early years.

Tutoring Approach:

I have worked as a private tutor for various agencies and also independently, leading my students through 11 plus, 13 plus, GCSE, A Level, Degree level and beyond. I teach English Literature & Language, Drama & Theatre Studies, History and Classics. I also have plenty of experience in working with much younger students (see my CV for details of my classroom and teaching assistant experience) with English as an additional language. I am a confident and enthusiastic individual, with an acute passion for teaching, and have been working with the Tutors Group for over 7 years now. I have worked as a teaching assistant in an Outstanding inner-city primary school, and before training at drama school was planning to take a post-graduate course in primary school teaching, a desire much encouraged by my class teacher and head of school. I have just graduated from my MA in acting at one of the most prolific drama schools in the country (Bristol Old Vic Theatre School); as an experienced dramatic performer and director, I enjoy effectively using these skills to aid children in their learning, leading to a warm, encouraging and happy learning atmosphere. I rapidly and easily create positive, personal relationships with colleagues and children, and believe education should be a creative and inclusive experience for all.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Mathematics teacher currently working in an inner city secondary in Liverpool.
I graduated from the University of Liverpool with an honours degree in Mathematics and Financial Economics and have also completed a further Mathematics course at Liverpool Hope University.
My background in Mathematical education has provided me with the knowledge and skills to teach students of all ages and different abilities.
I have been tutoring for the past three years now, both independently and for a private agency, with a proven track record in gaining the results required by each of my students.
Full CRB available on request

Teaching Experience:

I currently work in an inner city school, recently rated as "good with outstanding features" by Ofsted. I have worked in the school for the past three years teaching pupils in classes, small tuition groups and on a one to one basis.
I have an extensive knowledge in preparing pupils for exams, whether it be secondary school entry exams, GCSE or A-level. This has come from working in various schools doing intervention classes, both independently and as part of my further Maths course in University.
As well as teaching in the Uk i have been fortunate enough to go on a charity project to India over the summer holidays where i was able to teach in two Tibetan school, which has given me a wider perspective on teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

The first session is always used to get the know the student, find out what they want, what their strengths and weaknesses are and how we can develop these to reach our target grade/level. This is done by creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where the student can feel they are able to approach me with any problems or queries. By finding out the above information and creating such an atmosphere, i am then able to build their confidence and understanding in Mathematics.
I also aim to use the same approaches as i do in my classroom, where the students can see how they are doing and how to reach the next level. Regularly little assessments will take place as evidence of pupil progression.
Pupils will be encouraged to try hard and aim to reach the highest possible grade they can.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Ewa and I am passionate about learning and teaching languages. I was born and raised in Poland where I used to live until I discovered my interest for different cultures and languages. I have studied in France, travelled and worked in Poland, France, Italy and England and finally settled a few years ago in North Wales. Speaking languages has influenced my whole life! As a tutor, I teach my native Polish and also French, Spanish and Italian. I really enjoy working with people from different cultural backgrounds and showing them that languages, especially Polish, are not so difficult as it seems!

Since an early age I wanted to be a teacher, making my school and university choices in education and with my added passion for languages, today I am a professionally fulfilled person doing what I love the most - teaching languages!

I truly enjoy all aspects of teaching and I am convinced that my own passion for the languages can inspire and motivate my students to love learning languages as I do. With my strong knowledge of the subject, professional and personal attributes, I could certainly help you to meet your language needs.

Teaching Experience:

Reflecting on my work history, the experience I gained as a language teacher has had the most significant impact on my career development giving me the most professional satisfaction. University studies in education for a Master's degree in Modern Languages and multiple stays in France enabled me to acquire native level spoken French. Following my passion for languages, I became enthusiastic about the Spanish and Italian cultures and tongues. Thanks to languages courses and opportunity to polish my communication skills in commercial contact with native speakers, I developed a high fluency level.

I started my professional career teaching French in a Polish high school where my performance was highly praised not only for encouraging young people to learn languages and promoting plurilingualism but also for my learner-centred teaching approach.

On arrival in England, I achieved Qualified Teacher Status in recognition of my overseas qualifications. I had an opportunity to teach French to children in after school classes, tutoring in French and Spanish to GCSE students and helping adults to meet their languages goals in French, Spanish, Italian, and Polish.

Making the transition between different audiences allowed me to be more adaptable, experienced in tailoring my teaching to suit any level and today I feel very confident delivering lessons to a range of ages from children to adults.

In addition to tutoring, currently, I teach at the University of Chester to adults during evening classes and in various Educational and Cooperate environments.

Tutoring Approach:

As a language teacher, I am always deeply involved in planning and preparation which allows me to deliver lessons to the highest standards. I use a variety of teaching methods, effective materials, and resources, giving learners opportunities to develop and practice their skills. I pay attention to teaching within a cultural context and being very creative I enjoy sourcing materials, making the learning process challenging and yet enjoyable. I am a huge advocate of using modern day technologies in the teaching and learning the process.

In my teaching career, I taught languages to a different range of ages, however, my approach is to look at my learners individually, from children to adults and tailor my teaching to personal needs. Although being a teacher can be a demanding career, the joy of seeing my learners' progress in their linguistic achievements is a highly satisfying reward.

Being myself a keen language learner, I perfectly understand how challenging it can be, acquiring a new language. During our first taster session that I offer for free, I would assess your knowledge to identify your language level, learning style, motivation and according to your expectations I would propose a plan and methods we could use to achieve your language goals.

I am looking forward to helping you build your confidence in speaking languages!

Personal Description:
I am a confident, diligent and sociable person, with a wide knowledge of world history, and specialising in American and South-East Asian history and culture. I hold a double first class Bachelors degree in History and American Studies from Canterbury Christ Church University, and have had many years experience leading youth projects such as youth councils, young persons' scrutiny forums (YPSF) and have acted as a liasion on several historical and cultural preservation projects such as the Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) and the Church House Preservation Committee.

Teaching Experience:

I have previous experience as a teaching assistant to KS3 and KS4 level history at a state secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a holistic approach to the teaching of history, ensuring that the student becomes engaged within a fuller understanding of the period being studied. As a former student and teach of history, I realise that the principal block to a tutee's understanding of historical concepts is a lack of immersion within the relevant time-frames and thus an inability to fully comprehend why certain actions were taken, and the wider effect this had.

Thus in my approach I am firm believer that it is as important for every student to understand to a higher level than that offered by the current state curriculum the context of the period they are studying. As a consequence I offer tailored introductions to said period's culture, economy, religious and political setting, and even physical geography.

Furthermore, I offer the necessary skills to craft this knowledge into well-reasoned, informed essays. My intimate knowledge of the state education system and beyond has imbued me with the ability to gauge how assignments will be assessed and thus I can work with students not only on improving their knowledge, but showcasing this in highly-marked, structured and coherent written forms.

I use a number of methods to achieve this, including homework assignments, but also using character adoption, audio-visual aids and a mixture of written and verbal questions of varying length and form.

Personal Description:
Nice to meet you! I'm Rebecca; I'm 27 years old and graduated from Bangor University with a BSc in Psychology with Clinical and Health Psychology. After university I spent a year as a specialist support worker for adults with autism and autistic traits. With my psychology degree and experience I am more than happy to cater for students that might need a bit of extra help, and have experience teaching students with Aspergers, Personality Disorder, and depression.

Following uni, I spent nearly 2 years teaching English as a foreign language in Japan. Whilst in Japan, I also learnt how to speak conversational Japanese, and can also read and write hiragana, katakana, and first-grade level kanji. I now tutor English and Japanese full time, and have registered my own language services company.

To better understand what is needed for GCSE Japanese, I took my GCSE in 2016 achieving an A*, and plan to take N4 in the Japanese Proficiency test next year. I am happy to help students work towards their GCSE or N5 level Japanese, and I am constantly training to improve my students learning experience.

I welcome any students with special needs; I have vast experience in the Psychological field and work well with anyone who needs that little bit of extra help and attention! I also work great with kids who need help boosting their English and Maths at school- in the last year one of my 5-year-old student's grades have gone from below average to excellent in their school report.

I'm currently teaching in the Northamptonshire area, and have a classroom set up in my home where I do most of my teaching from.

Please note: I am currently fully booked every evening, so I can only offer morning/ early afternoon lessons at the moment.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience includes the 2 years I spent teaching English as a foreign language in Japan, where I designed the yearly teaching schedules, lesson plans, and then taught the lessons. My students were from the age of 3 to 65, so I have experience in teaching all ages. Whilst in Japan I also taught beginner's Japanese to foreigners living in my local area.

Since returning to England in 2013 I've been tutoring English and Japanese full time. I took my GCSE Japanese in 2016 achieving an A*, and plan to take N4 of the Japanese proficiency test next year. I have also been teaching one of my younger students English, Math, and other related subjects required for primary school. I currently have more than 20 students learning Japanese 1-to-1 and relish the challenges and individuality between each new student.

At university I volunteered for several groups including an activity group for disadvantaged children, assisting in secondary school classrooms, volunteering at the local mental health unit and volunteering as a charity shop assistant.

Prior to this, I often tutored my younger sister (who has Asperger's Syndrome) and helped her to understand her school work. I have also clocked up countless hours of babysitting for parents around the local area.

Tutoring Approach:

For teaching English as a foreign language, or when teaching Japanese, I believe a fun, active approach is the most effective. A short amount of time is spent drilling sentences and words; but then these new words and phrases should be used in role plays, games, or challenges to make the new vocabulary stick.

When teaching English, debates about the subject material cause important points to be remembered, help students to structure their arguments more clearly, and let students consider what the most important points are and consider counter arguments. Games for younger children and a variety of different activities to help enforce new vocabulary and sentences are also important.

Personal Description:
I made a first class in physics, also had a Distinction in my Masters degree in Physics Electronics. I am currently pursuing a PhD degree in Optical Engineering in University of Aberdeen, Scotland. I love Physics and Maths, it's always a privilege that I get to teach it and interact with new people on these subjects.

I am very friendly and approachable. And also love to inspire my students when teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I was a volunteered teacher of GCSE after graduation for a year before becoming a lecturer at the University of Benin, Nigeria in 2009 and taught for four(4) years. In University of Aberdeen, I have been actively involved in demonstration and tutoring of these courses.

Tutoring Approach:

Firstly, I try to understand the strength and ability of my student and know which teaching technique is appropriate. It's also important I establish a solid understanding of the basic concepts and review previous lectures and assignment with the student, thereby increasing his/her confidence. Students need to be actively engaged in their learning so I will always give them more examples, exercises, space and guidance to work out the answer for themselves.

Personal Description:
I am a third year student studying International Business with German at the University of Birmingham. I am a good communicator who can speak four languages fluently: English, German, Ukrainian and Russian. Although originally I come from Ukraine, Russian is my native language as I was born and lived in Odessa (Russian speaking part of Ukraine) for most of my life. I have also completed full secondary education in Russian back in Ukraine and at the age of 17, I moved from Ukraine to further my studies in England. I enjoy meeting new people, understanding their background and where they're from as well as exploring new places and cultures.

I am also a motivated individual, who loves helping people to learn something new and seeing them progress.

Teaching Experience:

In Ukraine I used teach children aged from 10-15 English language, helping them with their school homework and constantly taking a step further with their language knowledge. Also back in boarding school in England I used to help English pupils, who were studying Russian for their A-levels to prepare for their wiring and oral exams.

Tutoring Approach:

As a fluent speaker of four languages, I really do understand all the challenges learners of the new language might face. I believe that vocabulary and grammar are basis for any language studies. It provides fundamentals, which with practice will improve the language skills itself. However, knowing grammar rules isn't helpful until you can actually use it in real world. Thus, I believe that combining both grammar and speaking exercises in classes can bring the best results, trying to use grammar rules, while speaking.

I would divide sessions in two parts trying to cover both grammar and speaking on different topics. This should improve both the use of grammar and vocabulary skills. I am also happy to support any current academic material and answer any questions a learner might have. By following such teaching strategy, step by step, a learner will improve the knowledge of the language.

Personal Description:
Passionate about teaching and a native Chinese speaker, I`m also qualified with the Certificate of Proficiency in Putonghua (mandarin) by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority. In addition, I have various tutoring experiences regarding teaching Chinese language as a foreign language, with students from different age groups. `

For mandarin tutoring, I accept and have experiences teaching students from various backgrounds and levels, including both absolute beginners and students who are able to communicate but are seeking further improvement. In particular, I`d be helping with HSK exams preparation.

Currently, I'm also in charge of a language centre holding small groups for learning Mandarin on a weekly basis, which I always seek to explain Chinese to English speakers in a simple but clear way. Materials prepared by me are strictly designed, while I also encourage students to ask me questions anytime, even not within lessons.

Please don`t hesitate to drop me a message, if you`d like to explore any interest in having Chinese lessons with me, as a private tuition or small groups.

I look forward to hearing from you!

- absolute beginner
- HSK exams
- IB exams
- mandarin for business use

Tutoring Approach:

Upon my tutoring, you`d expect to have a tailor-made teaching plan, learning various skills in Chinese, including the modules of pronunciation, speaking, writing, vocabulary and listening. Materials used in class would vary among individuals, but are aimed to provide the most effective and dynamic results. Also, to help improve the language application, elements, such as songs, short videos/films shall be employed.

Personal Description:
Im a German chemist and biochemist with many practical experiences in analytical as in applied chemistry. From 1990 to 2000 I led the first government accredited private laboratory for environmental chemistry in Leipzig, Eastern Germany. Later I was working as a consultant and surveyor for projects of microbiological soil remediation and drinking water treatment. Over 20 years I was active in R&D of technical processes and devices for water purification by new chemical and biochemical methods. This packed knowledge of theory and practise is the base of all my lessons I can give to my students. On different institutes I taught prospective physicians, pharmacy and chemical technicians for respective graduation. So I was also a private lecturer at the Biochemical Department of the Leipzig University and some different professional educational institutes for some while.
Science needs freedom of thinking and speech. Unfortunately the political development of Germany lead more and more to a totalitarian society. Thats why currently Im looking for a new homeland in Wales and give all my knowledge to open-minded and inquisitive students. By the way since 2009 Im the director of two british companies for selling natural remedies on the one hand and helping expats on the other hand.

Teaching Experience:

Every person is unique. Nobody is talentless. You can reach everything what you really want by individual training by adjusted learning tempo according to your understanding . I can help you with my whole experience and with my knowledge. I modernly think and I am an advocate of the lifelong learning. Carpe diem. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
