I am currently acting as head of a growing music centre in Leeds.
I can provide lessons from complete beginners to professional/diploma standard. We can work towards ABRSM/Trinity/LCM exams, GCSE/A level music examinations or just for fun.

All styles or genres of music can be taught- Jazz, Classical, Contemporary, Pop, Ska, Musicals, klezmer etc.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught music to pupils with a range of abilities and backgrounds, including those with physical disabilities, dyslexia and SEN status. I have also taught gifted and talented pupils, and students who are beyond grade 8 ability.

I can also teach aural development, harmony and counterpoint, history of music and music appreciation.

Having been born in London I am a native speaker of the English language. I have vast experience with speakers of other languages. I recently decided to make a career change and make teaching English to speakers of other language a professional career. I am CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) qualified. I am also two years into BA (hons) English Language and Literature degree and intend to continue my own personal development by studying for an MA English Language Teaching and Linguistics and by completing the DELTA (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) as soon as I am eligible.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught to classes of between six and eighteen students whilst training for the CELTA qualification. The students came from a variety of countries including: France, Italy, Turkey, South Korea, Spain, Chile, Colombia, Russia and Poland. I have taught many more personal one-to-one lessons, mainly within the South American community.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a number of different course books for teaching English and try to make the whole experience as relaxed, fun and interactive as possible. This is easier with larger numbers but can be achieved on a one-to-one basis with a little thought and effort. I use audio and visual materials. Each student will have a preferred method of learning and as individuals we are not usually aware of what type of learner we are, for this reason I employ a number of techniques to make the learning experience as beneficial as possible. The techniques I use are: linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, bodily-kinaesthetic, musical, inter-personal and intra-personal.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is an investigative and supportive. ie their is a lot of logics or knowledge that I child sometimes laready have, by questioning sometimes these will come out. That way the child will remember the information fo a longer time as he/she contributed to the answer. She/he feels valued and a part of the teaching and learning process.
Each child I tutor is alway given a diagnostic test. From the test I would do a Individual Learning Plan. During tutoring as I identify weak areas I address them individually. I see education as a completed chain link, that is if a child is lacking in certain background knowledge, they will find it difficult to move forward effectively with their education. Unless these weak areas are address and their knowledge concretize they find it difficult to move on.
Parent's feedback is apart of this process and children must be praised throughout their learning, when neccessary and this needs to be done in context.

Below there are some practical rules regarding my tuition. Please read carefully:
1. I do not solve exercises or projects and send them to the tutee without tutoring involved. I consider this to be not only illegal, but also unethical, demotivating and unfair to other students.
2. There is a maximum number of students that I can take. For that reason, I would like to know from the start how many hours you will need when we approach the exam period.
3. If a student introduces me to another student, he will have a special price.
4. The homework is based on exam papers and at times becomes very demanding, especially close to the exams.The student must always do his homework. In case he doesn't for two consecutive sessions, the lesson is terminated.
5. If the student is going to stop the lessons during term breaks, he must inform me beforehand.

Teaching Experience:

Before embarking on teacher training, I worked as a teaching assistant in both primary and post-primary settings. I provided support to children with English as an additional language and with special educational needs in both settings. I was responsible for planning, setting targets and assessment of the children I worked with. Teaching Experience:

I have a range of experience teaching all age groups. I have been tutoring one-to-one for 3 years, teaching History and English language and literature. My students have found me committed and knowledgeable, and have often achieved their target grade or better. I have also helped students with university applications and personal statements. Last year, all of the students I assisted with their applications got the maximum of 5 university offers.

I have travealled to Cambodia to teach English language at a charity school in Phnom Penh, and my pupils there ranged from 4 years old to adults.

I have also worked four summers full-time in an English language school where I had full responsibility of children and teenagers. This year I was the director of the school's residential programme. As well as helping the students to improve their English, I coordinated their entire stay at the school. My employer praised me for often being chosen as 'best activity leader' on the students' feedback forms.

Last year I took part in an outreach programme at my university which involved teaching human rights and activism at a London sixth form college on behalf of Amnesty International. We had a series of lessons on different aspects of human rights abuse and campaigning which led up to a fundraiser raising money for Amnesty.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that a gradual build-up of confidence is integral to learning literacy skills. Learning skills on by one, such as editing or memorising, makes the tasks seem simple, yet leads up to a large and complex understanding of how to do well at English. Working at the student's own speed is important, in order that they grasp one aspect of writing before tackling another. My approach is to find the weak areas in a student's studying and work on these, without making any task seem too daunting. Exam technique and the knack of writing what an examiner is looking for are also main objectives.

I will help extensively with essays and coursework, providing comprehensive editing and advice. We can work together on your piece of work until it is of the highest standard possible.

The style of tutoring needed by individual students will vary. It may start with ensuring understanding of the key concepts in biology at an appropriate level. The jump to A level from GCSE is quite considerable and even the brightest students can struggle initially. Another essential skill needed is the ability to pull together biological content taught in different parts of the syllabus. As exam time approaches, a student has to apply their knowledge and understanding to real exam questions. Practice of exam technique is often a large part of a tutorial session in the run up to A level exams. I specialise in the humanities, the social sciences, and relevant creative industries up to (and inclusive of) degree level; I'm equipped to teach an array of closely-related topics, at various levels, by virtue of my diverse (academic and professional) background(s).

Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a (comb. hons.) bachelor's degree-English with Creative Writing, a master's degree-Professional Writing, and currently find myself undertaking a PhD by research.

How much do you charge?
My rate is 20 per hour, irrespective of subject, or level (there is no charge for the first/introductory session).

NB: my service is of no lesser quality than that of tutors whom request in excess of 60 per hour; I simply fail to see a correlation between entitlements to opportunity and financial means.

Where do you teach?
Primarily, I teach from home; however, I also offer online tuition (for those who would otherwise have to travel long distances, or are unable to travel).

When are you available?
I tutor full-time, alongside part-time postgraduate study. My hours are: 09:00-19:00, Mon-Sun.

I currently only have one space between Dec '16-Jan '17, but this may increase to two between Jan-Jun '17.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
KS1 to Level 6 (primary-degree).

Aside from my experience as an academic tutor (which exceeds four years), I've also served NHS psychiatric services, as a negotiations/conflict resolution tutor: this role involved the design and implementation of dialectical interventions-chiefly, those concerned with emotionally complex situations (e.g. violence and aggression, high-stakes contexts, etc.).
