Personal Description:
I am a graduate in Politics, English and German with an International House qualification to teach English as a foreign language to adults.

Since 2001 I have been engaged on a university research and publishing project, based in London and Cambridge, that charts the reception of British and Irish authors in Europe, from Francis Bacon to James Joyce.

A significant part of my professional role involves editing and proof-reading academic texts, and I'm happy to undertake this for tutees.

I am also a freelance researcher, writer and curator of exhibitions on contemporary social and political cartoons, such as 'Coping with the Relations', commissioned by the Goethe-Institut and British Council as an international touring exhibition. Amongst other publications I co-authored the book *Deutschland und seine Nachbarn* in 2000 as a resource for political education in German schools.

I am an enthusiastic European with a keen interest in global affairs.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring students in English, Politics and German for many years, as well as working as a business language trainer in companies across London.

Previously I taught English, German and Politics in England (GCSE and A-level), and English as a foreign language at all levels in grammar schools in Austria and Germany. I also taught English as a foreign language to trainee German teachers of English and for Academic & Special Purposes (law, business studies, social sciences) as well as British cultural studies at the University of Osnabruck, Germany, for 8 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe patience, appropriate pace and empathetic attention to an individual's learning needs are essential for anyone helping others to understand often complex ideas and concepts. I also believe successful learning results from both the learner's and teacher's motivation, enthusiasm and interest in the subject. These are principles that inform my role as a tutor.

I much prefer one-to-one or small-group tutoring, particularly where if a foreign language is involved. I believe the intensity of experience such interaction provides is the next best thing to direct engagement with a foreign language in the context in which it is naturally spoken. This is borne out by my own experience as a foreign-language learner.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of Christ Church, Oxford University with a Master's Degree in Mathematics and Philosophy. I am also a fully qualified teacher of Mathematics, currently working at Highgate School, one of London's top independent schools.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher in London through the Graduate Teacher Programme, and I am currently working as a teacher of Mathematics at Highgate School in North London.

I have been tutoring mathematics since leaving university, and have worked for clients in locations such as London, the South of France and Moscow. I have tutored students for various qualifications including GCSE, IGCSE, IB and A-level. I have also prepared students for 11+ and 13+ private school entrance exams, and for Oxbridge interviews. I have also taught English as a foreign language in South Korea.

Tutoring Approach:

I take an approach to maths which focusses on understanding, rather than rote learning. This gives students a more flexible approach, and allows them to apply their mathematical skills well to problem solving tasks. I encourage them to use their initiative and to be confident in working independently. I also focus on practising techniques for exam preparation. I aim to make my lessons enjoyable and to focus on areas that students find difficult. While mathematics is my primary subject, I may also be able to give students help in other subjects by arrangement.

Personal Description:
I am a professional and dedicated native English teacher with years of experience behind me.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained TEFL experience within varied teaching roles, both abroad and in the UK. In my previous roles I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults in companies, schools, and summer camps. I have taught General English, Business English, and exam classes to groups and one-to-one students in school and business environments. I also have experience of teaching students with dyslexia. This variety has enabled me to continually assess my style of teaching and keep me on my toes!

Working in such roles has given me crucial insight into the needs of the student. I am extremely patient and understand the frustration that can arise when learning, whether it is a new language or subject. I realise that people acquire knowledge through varied means so I am keen to adjust my teaching style to benefit my students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a mature, responsible, and eclectic teaching approach, as well as a good sense of humour, is crucial for a successful learning environment.

I offer a custom-made service, whether you need to improve your general English skills, your writing, or simply build your confidence. I also have years of experience in teaching Business English and Exam English (IELTS/FCE/CAE). Whatever you need help with, I am happy to focus my lessons on what you require.

I offer Skype lessons and professional proofreading for people who may not be able to meet face-to-face.

I am available to tutor at your home, workplace, or in a quiet cafe in Cambridge. I can also tutor in Central London.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Cambridge where I read Economics and have over 600 hours of tutoring experience.
I studied Economics, Mathematics and Modern History for A-Level, and English Literature at AS-Level, achieving A-grades in all of them.

I worked for nearly two years at the FSA, working on financial regulation and Economic Risk and then worked as an Economic Advisor to an MP where I focussed on Economics. I stood for Parliament last year.

I have continued tutoring due to my love of teaching and I believe that it benefits both me, and the student.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 200 hours of experience in preparing students for University- helping students with their personal statements and interview technique. I have also worked for Oxbridge Applications and have been trained extensively in mock interviews, preparing for the TSA test and how to improve self confidence, interview skills and writing skills.

I have over 600 years of experience in tutoring A-Level Economics in the last four years alone (although I have tutored since 2010). I have helped students from different backgrounds and achievement levels and have received positive feedback.

"Resham tutored my son over 18 months whilst he was studying for his A level in Economics. At the time my son started his tuition, he was probably a borderline A/B student . Over time this translated into him achieving an A* in his Economics paper at A level, including 100% in one of his essay papers.
I have no doubt this was as a result of engaging Resham as his teacher, and would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending her as a tutor. She will get you results!"

"Resham has not only thoroughly prepared me for the demands of my AS economics course but she has also helped me to delve further into economics and develop my deeper understanding and interest"

"My child got 3A*s including 100% on one of his economics papers, so a massive thanks is due to you"

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing when tutoring a student is to be patient and kind as no student benefits from an environment in which they are made to feel stupid or slow. In fact, the problem is often the way students are taught and so I try to make lessons as interactive as possible to ensure that the student really understands what I teach them.

I believe that it is important to tailor the Tuition classes to the needs of the individual student, in order to help students realise their full potential. Students learn in different ways and so it is important to recognise that the method that works for one student, might not work for another.

I like to sit-down with students to establish what they are hoping to achieve, and where their strengths and weaknesses lie in the subject. That way I can ensure that the lessons are as helpful as possible for the student as I try to help the student achieve their goals.

For Long-Term students, I have found that it works best to track the lesson plans according to what has been taught in school during the week. This allows me to help students to to ensure that any misunderstandings are dealt with quickly so that they can build on this knowledge in the next week's lessons at school.

For students close to Exams, I focus more on the concepts that are fundamental to the subject to boost the chance of gaining high marks in the exam. I also focus on teaching exam technique.

Personal Description:
I am a lighthearted, focused and friendly actress, with a passion for new people and experiences. I have trained for a year at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic arts (LAMDA), where i was exposed to a great deal of new experiences, and was challenged daily. I believe that nothing is ever hard, but just a challenge to overcome and grow as a individual from. I have also trained at the National Youth Theatre, and have a BTEC in performing arts.

I have worked in a wide variety of jobs, and have consequently gained a large number of transferable skills, such as the ability to gain and maintain a rapport with clients/people/customers.I am very interested in what an Individual has to offer, and love seeing people find their true talent

Recently I have performed at The Soho Theatre, The Bush Theatre and have been involved with the national youth theatre.

Teaching Experience:

Although this is my first step into private tuition I have experience assisting drama workshops in schools, and have sat on the audition panel of the National youth Theatre.

Tutoring Approach:

Having received Private Drama tuition myself many years ago i am very aware of how important it is to be comfortable with your tutor. I therefore aim to create an extremely relaxed and open atmosphere in order for the tutee to reach their full potential.

I believe that drama classes can be used for anything from gaining confidence, to helping with speeches, but most of all i think they can help you learn much more about yourself and the people around you.

I aim to help clarify speeches, encourage students to reach their full potential, engage in a two way discussion about the piece they are studying and in doing so help them discover exactly what their objective is. This should all be fun and open.

Every student is different, and it is my responsibility to adapt and be aware of this.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Lauren and I am 23 years old. I am currently undertaking my clinical training as a third year medical student via the Graduate Entry Programme at Imperial College London. Prior to this I read Natural Sciences at University of Cambridge with an interest in a range of biological topics including biology of cells, physiology, pathology and history & ethics of medicine.

I have always been a hardworking and conscientious student but more importantly I have made an effort to adapt and improve my approach to learning to meet the increasing demands that school and university brings. I would love to use my experiences to help other students work towards and achieve their goals, and pass on the studying skills I have found so helpful.

During my time at Cambridge I found the small-group-based supervisions to be the best way to test my own understanding of a topic and a great opportunity to seek answers to questions that had not been raised during class. This is why I believe tutoring is one of the most effective ways for a student to enhance their own education. Furthermore having been a supervisee myself I understand the qualities that are sought in a tutor. The supervisors I most admired were those that were approachable, patient and knowledgeable; qualities I strive to embody in my own tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

I have many years of experience providing guidance, support and advice to students over a wide age range both in academic and extra-curricular settings.

During sixth form I was a senior student for the mathematics department tutoring students in year 7-9 at lunchtimes, in particular guiding them through assignments they had been unable to complete in class and taking the time to revisit topics they had found more challenging. I was also elected to be a prefect responsible for overseeing the welfare of a year 9 form throughout the academic year.

Whilst at Cambridge I took part in an e-monitoring scheme where I provided advice and guidance to a sixth form student applying to university from an access-targeted school. I also became a 'college parent' to three students in the year below whom I provided support to in their studies and general advice about university life.

More recently at Imperial I have volunteered with the 'Teddy Bear Hospital Scheme' helping to run interactive and fun workshops at local primary schools to educate children about the importance of health and challenge their fear of doctors. I also continue to help my five younger siblings with their homework and exam preparation, feeling a great sense of pride as I have watched each of them progress from primary to secondary school.

I am very excited to tutor students in the areas of mathematics and science, as well as help with university applications and entrance exams (UKCAT average = 790).

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the best approach to tutoring is to work in partnership with the tutee in an environment that we both feel comfortable, ensuring an interactive and engaging session.

The teaching methods used will be adapted to every tutee, catering to the individual differences in learning approaches and pace. These could range from working through practice questions to test a tutee's knowledge, using diagrams to explain difficult concepts, to having an open and two-way discussion about a topic of interest. I would explore these specifics prior to and during the first session so that I could appreciate the needs of the tutee. In later sessions we can review the approach used and make changes if both the tutee and I feel this would be beneficial.

Whether a tutee is looking to understand the basics of topic they are struggling with or wanting to push themselves to excel in areas they are interested in I believe everyone can reach their potential and that is what I set out to do through my tutoring.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Sarah and I live in my home town of Newark, Nottinghamshire. I'm an experienced English, Spanish and ESOL teacher who creates challenging, rewarding and interesting classes for her students.

Classes take place in Newark. However, I available to teach in Nottingham city centre on Thursdays and in Lincoln on Wednesdays.

I have just started a Master's degree in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Sheffield (currently ranked 7th in the UK for Linguistics and 1st for student satisfaction) with the view to continuing onto PhD.

I enjoy cycling and swimming as well as reading and learning about the world we live in.

Teaching Experience:

I've taught ESOL in a variety of settings including Spain, Ukraine, Myanmar and England- in private institutions, government agencies and the state education system. I can also speak the languages of the countries I have lived in (to varying degrees) so I understand what it is like to be a language learner. This is also perfect for the current demand of grammar knowledge required by the National Curriculum; as a grammarian I certainly know my stuff!

I also tutor reluctant readers and those that either need extra support outside school or extra stimulation.

I'm currently studying for a postgraduate qualification in Linguistics and have recently written thematic courses for the British Council for teenagers based on famous authors.

I am also able to tutor for IELTS, which is the examination required by many institutions for further and higher education for students who don't have English as a first language.

Tutoring Approach:

Firstly, it is important that you enjoy the classes and that you are inspired and motivated to take your learning outside the classroom and apply it to your daily lives. I will give you language that is useful to you and skills to make your language learning more effective.

I tailor the classes to engage and challenge you- based on how you learn, what your level is and what your language goals are. We will use a variety of real materials as well as books to help you learn different aspects of language.

I understand that some of you may not be able to afford the price that I charge. It is possible to arrange something, for example, joining with another student to make the classes more affordable for you. Bear in mind though, that the hourly price is per contact hour, it doesn't take into account all the other learning you will do outside the classroom with tasks that I set you, so you can ask for as little or as much study for yourself as you want.

Hope to see you soon!

I can set you as much homework as you want. If you don't have time to do any, you don't have to, this is your class, or I can set you mini- tasks that you can complete as you go about your daily life.

Practice makes perfect!

Personal Description:
My native language is Spanish Latin-American but lived in Spain for 11 years, so I can speak both kinds fluently and good grammatical

Teaching Experience:

This is my fist time as a tutor but I have worked like Au-pair in Germany and Spain, with child and I was like a teacher because we share the languages in differents activities, plays, singing, with Homeworks etc.
Other experiences in leisure time in summer, in the holidays with friends and his families, or the babysitter.
I like to do activities for teaching new vocabulary, go to the park

Tutoring Approach:

Consider important to learn and practice a language in a form very practical and simple. Personally I try to teach in this way because we can remember better the grammatic when we are in a dairy situation and enjoy together.

Personal Description:
I have worked as a part time tutor for the past academic year and during my gap year. After passing the first year of an accelerated Graduate Entry Medicine course with Merit, I am looking forward to entering the clinical years of my degree. I also hold a Bsc in Biological Sciences from the University of Liverpool. Working as a healthcare assistant during my gap year presented me with the opportunity to improve both my listening and communication skills. I hope to not only improve a student's academic success but also their learning style and study skills

Teaching Experience:

PRIVATE TUITION FROM 2014
I regularly undertake work for Tavistock tutors, as well as taking on my own clients privately. My experience ranges from 11+ and 13+ prep to undergraduate Organic Chemistry tuition. I have also delivered lessons via Skype. I was pleased that one of my recent tutees achieved her goal of grade A at A level.
MEDICINE ENTRANCE COACHING FROM 2015
A large aspect of my role as a student ambassador for St George's University is advising students on how best to approach the medicine application process. This has included leading mock interviews giving individual feedback to over 30 international students, help writing personal statements and advice on getting the best work experience placements.

Tutoring Approach:

From my own experiences, I understand that school tuition can struggle to tap in to the different ways young people learn, which may mean that they do not reach their true potential. I adapt my teaching style depending on the individual tutee, and try and make the sessions as fun and interactive as possible. I encourage open discussion and focus on conceptual understanding of a subject above rote learning, as I feel this better prepares the tutee for further University education and work.

I currently work as a student ambassador at St George's University (I am reading graduate entry medicine). This role has given me contact with young people who have an interest in the sciences and healthcare, and I have enjoyed being able to teach subjects that I am truly passionate about. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to do this on a one-to-one basis and allows me to develop a relationship with a student over a longer period of time, and have a more lasting impact on their education.

Personal Description:
I am a mathematical oriented person with good mix of computing, business analysis, and general sciences.

Teaching is fun for me, especially when I help support people to achieve their dreams.

Whether it be continuous support throughout the year, or purely exam preparation, I ensure students can more fully understand the subject and, crucially get top grades. I facilitate the ultimate goal of any student which is to get a complete understanding of the subject matter and to be able to achieve the right result/grade.

Teaching Experience:

I am familiar with all major exam boards (OCR, IGCSE, MEI, AQA, Edexcel) and for University level, the general structure/format of exams that institutions typically set.

I employ a pragmatic style that really delivers results and I generally look to significantly improve my student's grades to the highest attainable.

Furthermore, my main objective has always been to show my students how to master any line of study and be able to figure out solutions to any given problem set.

Tutoring Approach:

I maintain a very relaxed and friendly approach to teaching.

My approach is to first make student understand in a clear term what the goal is, make them master the subject matter, and test understanding by doing.
