Personal Description:
I'm twenty two and have lived, worked and studied in the south Hampshire area my whole life. I love the area and intend on staying here for the foreseeable future! I'm currently studying Graduate Entry Medicine at the University of Southampton, having completed my BSc. (Hons) Human Physiology at the University of Portsmouth in 2015. I attended Hamble Community Sports College, achieving 14 GCSEs at grade A and A* - top of my year - and Peter Symonds College, studying Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Critical Thinking and General Studies. My Mathematics and Statistics GCSE (taken a year early) were the highest the school had ever achieved, both gaining an A* (99.5% and 100% respectively).

Teaching Experience:

During my GCSE preparation period, and during the exam time also, I tutored several students in my year and below for Mathematics and Statistics, alongside their current teaching at school. I have also, however, given tuition to other adults, most of whom were taking their Mathematics GCSE as an extra qualification in order to get a promotion at work. I would be very willing to do any type of Key Stage 2, 3 or GCSE Mathematics or Statistics teaching for a person of any age.
I have now taught many students, ranging from ages 5 - adult, and all of those which have sat exams have at least achieved the grades they were after. I have helped students to reach required grades, supplementing class teaching, catching up on missed lessons, improving old Maths skills and more recently as a standalone teacher of the entire GCSE syllabus. I have also helped individuals gain much needed confidence in their own skills and I have a lot of experience in helping students to believe in themselves!

Tutoring Approach:

Mathematics being a specific passion of mine, I encourage students to apply their own knowledge to the question, before adding any new information. By showing proof of how a calculation or question works, I believe that anyone can grasp a method if they are shown the reason behind its usage. I believe I can offer an alternative to the class driven method of teaching, and allow students to gain aptitude in spotting the need for a calculation just by reading the question, and hopefully then on to creating their own calculations and solutions! I also aim to make a heavy question of 5 or 6 marks appear to be just a group of smaller questions, making each mark easier to get. I've been teaching for four years now and I've seen many students suffer from a lack of confidence in their own ability, and I always ensure that not only does the person have core, and advanced knowledge, but that they have confidence in the fact that anything can be achieved!

I have been an examiner for OCR 'A' level English and AQA 'A' Level English for many years and have also moderated GCSE English examination papers. I tutor at all levels, from basic literacy, through to dissertations for under graduates including subjects not associated with the subject of English. I run a Creative Writing class and assist people to write novels and poetry and a variety of other genres. I have lectured English at both 'A' level and GCSE levels at a further education college. I teach a Creative Writing class, assisting people to write novels, poetry and a variety of other genres. Teaching Experience:

I began Spanish tuition over 30 years ago. I now have my own Spanish Tuition Business where I tailor Spanish Tuition courses to suit the individual and at a pace conducive to successful learning. Two years ago I worked with the BBC on their Spanish learning programmes for key stage 3 and 4.

Tutoring Approach:

I cater for visual (learn by seeing), auditory (learn by hearing) and kinesthetic (learn by doing) learners and, in general, I find it beneficial to incorporate all of these learning approaches into a typical Spanish tuition lesson to keep it interesting and engaging.

A teacher should have the ability to identify the needs of a student and to plan and design a course pertinent to that student. A teacher should be able to recognize learning styles and adapt their teaching accordingly in order to deliver and facilitate learning. A teacher needs to assess his or her students in order to ascertain their knowledge gained and give constructive and developmental feedback. Above al, the most important quality is a student must feel free to approach the tutor with confidence and ask any question. It's easy to teach, the test is whether they have learnt. A good sense of humor is essential, no one learns when they are unhappy.

I received an A at maths at GCSE and understand the curriculum fully. I studied Sport Science with Coaching at Northumbria University. Teaching Experience:

I have had work placements at Haydon Bridge High School teaching P.E to ages 13-18 for a period of 6 weeks, then assisting various classes for 75 hours over 4 months. I undertook several roles; teacher, clasroom assistant, organiser of fixtures and one on one tutor. I also returned to Haydon Bridge High school as a volunteer, assisting in P.E lessons.
I am currently emplyed as a classroom assistant at Queen Elizabeth High school. My main role is to work with one or two children with Special Educational Needs within the classroom supporting their learning. I may also have to work with a whole class, supporting all the children. It is vital for my role that I understand and can teach the curriculum, as I may have to work outside the classroom with the child and will need to tutor them in that subject area. The majority of the students I am currently working with have made progress since I have been put with them and other students are asking to be placed with me or for me to put on revision sessions for them.

Tutoring Approach:

Every child is unique. They each have their own way of learning and have different abilities in a variety of areas. This can not always be addressed within a school environment, as it can be difficult to differentiate the topic which is being taught to a large number of pupils. I understand that each child will work at a different rate therefore my rate and style of teaching will alter to suit the student. I believe that tutoring is about guiding a child to find their own way towards an answer and not making them follow your way as they may not understand the process which you have followed. I can also comprehend the amount of work which students are having to complete weekly, thus I would not supply them with a large workload alongside their normal studies.

Equally adept with pre-schoolers and GCSE students, Annabel enjoys the challenge and subsequent rewards that come from working with a wide age-range. Specialist tuition for those with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia is offered to encourage confidence and proficiency when learning new ideas and concepts.

Please note: TUITION IS CARRIED OUT AT ANNABEL'S OWN VENUE. People learn more effectively outside of their home environment and also this enables Annabel to keep session costs down. All tutees are entitled to two introductory sessions (normally priced) before paying for a block of five or ten sessions. Online tuition is offered for those who cannot travel to the venue.

★ EFL lessons cover those who are working to at least a `Lower Elementary Level`. Annabel will ascertain if she can offer tuition before you purchase her details. I have been a full time private tutor for over three years now and enjoy this very much. I help teenagers improve their grades for GCSE French and I also successfully prepare students for A levels. My experience involves working with adult and teenage students. Sessions are tailored to the specific needs of students such as someone needing to speak French for work. My work with GCSE students involves explaining from scratch the main points of grammar and guiding their pronunciation so students can perform better for oral and listening exams. At the moment, I am helping a student study the novel Madame Bovary more in depth. This is in preparation for the entry to University. This involves weekly sessions where I prepare questions in French for my student. I expect the student to prepare answers in French. We discuss in French the style of the novelist, the main themes, the protagonists, the plot etc. I spend time carefully preparing sessions with the view of increasing the fluency of students. In the course of the school year 2012-2013 I taught English (via skype) to one of my nieces and she achieved good grades in English for her Baccalaureat. At the same time, I also helped an A level student to study Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. I chose excerpts from the novel and prepared questions for the student. When we met, in addition to going through the prepared questions and analysis, I focused on the pronunciation, grammar and spelling plus vocabulary. I truly enjoy seeing my students improve their confidence in spoken and written French. I can help adults brush on their French or learn the language from a beginner's level up to an advanced level.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to discuss with my students to know exactly what the students want to get from the lessons. I keep in mind that each student has different goals and motives to learn the language. I draw a learning plan to guide the students and myself. My tutoring sessions are tailor-made as students are different with different learning styles. I think it is important that students make progress and for this I think it is also important that the atmosphere be pleasant so I do like it when my students are enjoying their learning and progressing.

I like to focus on the pronunciation so students can be understood properly by French native speakers. It does make things easier for students when they travel to France or if they want to work there, for instance. I focus on the pronunciation, grammar,vocabulary and spelling. I truly enjoy seeing my students improve their confidence in spoken and written French, I also provide tips regarding modern spoken French. While tutoring to beginners, I find that it is important to offer to students a good grasp of grammar as this enables students to start constructing little useful sentences on their own. I correct students on their pronunciation to give them a good start. I am aware that everyone is different and consequently I tend to teach according to the needs of each student. I have an up-to-date DBS certificate ( May 2013).

Personal Description:
I grew up in south-west London, in Twickenham, before attending Tiffin School (Kingston-Upon-Thames) and Cambridge University, where I was awarded my BA (Hons) degree in History of Art. I have always engaged with extracurricular activities with enthusiasm, something which my educational institutions have given me ample opportunity to do.

My main passion has been acting. It has provided many opportunities to meet and get to know a huge range of different people, all in a challenging, intense environment. Fundamentally, it is the opportunity to engage with the perspective of another person and to attempt to embody this in actions and speech. It requires a performer to listen to and work with others on stage, and to work within a flexible, productive relationship - this is essential for any student-teacher relationship, as a dialogue begins to emerge.

My other interests have similarly complemented my academic pursuits: I have played rugby union for 14 years, up to and including university level, and used to play the french horn in the school orchestra. Both activities gave me an opportunity to voice my individual contribution to the group whilst working within a team, invaluable experience for academic discussion as well as confidence in many other areas of life. They offer different approaches to problem solving and develop some of the broader skills essential for academic success, such as self-expression, articulation, flexibility and confidence.

Teaching Experience:

My experience includes working with primary school students (age 4-6), through a voluntary program at secondary school. This involved helping children to learn to read. The weekly session required empathy and flexibility on my part, demanding an understanding that each child`s ability was completely unique, and that my approach needed to be modified to fit each person. In particular, I had to cultivate patience and a desire to listen and to understand everything the child was saying.

Whilst at university I also participated in a student run mentoring scheme, which gave unprivileged children the opportunity to understand life and work at Cambridge. It was a fascinating opportunity to understand some of the social and personal blocks to academic confidence, as well as offering ways in which these problems might be developed and overcome. Most importantly, it was a joyful experience to be able to help a younger person, and to understand that they were a unique person with their own approach to problems and solutions. By listening to him, I gradually learnt the ways in which they best communicated and how I could use those situations to our advantage as a student-teacher pair.

More recently, I have participated in a student-run university theatre tour which also comprised educational workshops. These workshops were a much bigger part of the tour than we had originally thought, and proved to be challenging at times. This was partly from the language barrier (many classes spoke little to no English, and were often too embarrassed to speak at all), but also from the unpredictable nature of the students. We had to work on our feet, employing what resources we had in a way which was meaningful, cumulative and ultimately led to an end. Our exercises required an overall structure and an ultimate purpose, but we also wanted to adjust this according to their reactions. Though I initially found this challenging, towards the end of the tour I could take charge of workshops and lead them with ease.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching and intellectual discussion have always been an important part of my family life, and it is an activity which I enjoy on a personal as well as professional level. My time at university has developed my ability to think in this way, as well as providing an environment in which I was surrounded by these kinds of discussion, with both professors and students. The emphasis on close-contact supervision periods at Cambridge taught me the importance of helping each student understand their individual form of expression.

I would avoid didactic repetition and seek to challenge the student and invite them to contribute. As well as work done outside the tutoring time period, I would encourage tasks such as presentations and prepared discussions as much as possible. I believe this work lays an essential base for passionate intellectual discussion, and it is something which certainly helped me in my university interview.

Coupled with this development of interest in particular subject areas, I would try to help the student's method of arguing and offer sustained, constructive advice on how that might be more effective. A university candidate is only as successful as their ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, something which may require exercises as different as confidence building or syntax and grammar. But as well as this self-belief and self expression, the student would need to acknowledge that academic (and educational) progress can be achieved by listening to others and attempting to understand their point of view. This dialogic aspect is essential to my tutoring approach.

I like drawing and painting when I was a child, painting and drawing enable me to be peaceful and patient, inspire me to become a sophisticated designer. Since childhood, one of my biggest dreams is to become a sophisticated designer and artist. It has always been my dream to travel around the world to gain more knowledge with different art history from other countries.

I was suffering from severe skin allergy that I needed to visit doctor all the time in F.4. The skin allergy had put much pressure on me, affected my academic performance at that time, forcd me to drop out of secondary school. I felt miserable all the time during the period of recovering, so I focused myself on an activity I always love - drawing. Through drawings, I was not only able to find joy and release my stress, but also able to improve my drawing skills.

As I was recovering gradually, I enrolled in the Diploma in Vocational Education (DVE) of Jewellery Arts and Design in Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education to pursue my interests in arts and design. The program equipped me with skills and technique in making jewellery, drawing and design technique with design concept, development and finalizing design work etc. I enjoy it very much since I could learn the in-depth knowledge in jewellery and arts. Also, I learnt some practical skills such as annealing, brazing and casting, which I could later apply these skills on jewellery arts making. Every time I completed a piece of jewellry, I could feel contented with a sense of achievement and got promoted to my making skills.

After graduating from the DVE programme, I continued my studies a Higher Diploma in Jewellery Design and Technology at the same school. The programme have provided me with lots of specialized and professional knowledge in gemology, further design and making skills. Throughout the programme, I learnt various gemstones and had seen many stunning designer pieces made out of them. Also, the programme had not only provided me intensive training on hand sketching, but the knowledge on Jewellery CAD , a design and manufacture software for jewellery, all these professional skills enable me to create designs for jewellery. During my studies, I have an opportunity in participating two jewellery competitions and I was selected as the finalist of both competitions. Although I did not win those competitions, I had obtained valuable experience which could utilize them in the coming challenges as well as chances to get to known the industry.

I had much curiosity in the jewellery industry and therefore working in a jewellery company as a part time designer when I am still a student. My works have been shown in jewelley fair. I received many positive comments from our customers who shown their interest and expressed that they appreciate my designs for their fruitful elements. I am delighted and grateful to receive their comments which had inspired me to be a further encouraged me to become a successful designer and a art teacher.

I'm a keen helper and I've always been willing to support others in my class for Media, as my course was based entirely on a blog and I tended to finish ahead of time it meant I could support those who were struggling. While obviously I don't know everything I am pretty confident on how the A Level works and am super willing to support.
