Personal Description:
I am 32 years old and currently work as a Technical Assistant for a leading firm of Patent Attorneys in London.
I am approachable, patient and friendly, and an ideal tutor for anyone needing extra help in Maths or Physics.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Maths and Physics since 2006.
From 2006 to 2012, I tutored an average of nine students per term, mainly for Maths GCSE and Physics A-levels across the OCR, EdExcel and AQA exam boards.
I have two years' experience in lecturing at first and second year university level, having taught the Fundamentals of Physics course to English speaking students at Northeastern University in China from 2012-2014.
I am qualified to BSc level in in Physics and a PhD, and I have several publications in leading scientific journals having worked as a Research Scientist at institutions in the UK and abroad.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an enthusiastic approach to tutoring and always try to ensure a real sense of progress and satisfaction by the end of each lesson by working on high priority problem areas first. I pride myself on my ability to explain complex ideas in a simple and memorable way and I also teach exam and revision techniques that really do work.

I offer a friendly relaxed teaching environment tailored to the learning style of each person I teach. During lessons I draw up notes that the student can keep, I work through relevant exam questions, and I I set homework within the limits agreed by the student and/ or the parent so that the student can build their confidence in the time between lessons.

Personal Description:
I am a biological and medicinal chemistry graduate from the University of Exeter, a top-ten university. My degree focuses upon the design and synthesis of drugs and their interaction within biological systems. As such, I have an in-depth knowledge of biochemistry, organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry. Currently, I am studying for my PhD in biochemistry.

I can explain topics within biology and chemistry simply and am willing to help with anything from understanding topics to coursework. At College, I studied the International Baccalaureate, using both A-level and IB textbooks. Due to this, I can teach both IB and A-level students.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching AQA A-level chemistry and GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

Very relaxed and easy going. I would give lessons on the syllabus and try to get the student to participate in them by answering questions. We could then revise topics together to make sure everything is learnt and there are no problems in understanding. This would culminate in looking at past papers and going through model answers.

Personal Description:
I am married with a daughter of 22 and a son of 19. On occasion I help my husband garden for the elderly and disabled. I graduated from Exeter University in 1985. Teaching has always been a vocation rather than a job as I love seeing the 'penny drop'.

Teaching Experience:

In the last 2 Secondary schools I was a Deputy Head of Science and the Professional Tutor for the school. Whilst teaching I covered the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 syllabus. I then had the pleasure of working in the primary sector for 6 years teaching the Key Stage 2 syllabus. Since 2005 I have been tutoring students ranging from 7 years of age to adults. Education Otherwise gave me the opportunity to teach in various homes during the day. I offer day time tutoring to fit the needs of the individual student.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is informal. I believe students learn best when they are at ease and not under pressure. If students are distracted in their own home I offer them tuition in my home. My students marks have improved by 2 grades and in the last 18 months several have jumped up 3 grades leaving students, parents and myself very happy.

Personal Description:
I am a patient, approachable tutor and will help you from wherever your starting position. I have helped many students achieve the grades they want and I know how it feels to be under pressure to do well in exams. I aim to give students confidence in themselves and in their subject and hopefully, enjoy the process!

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced secondary school teacher, having taught in England and Northern Ireland. I have taught lots of versions of combined sciences (like OCR and AQA) as well as separate sciences at GCSE. I have taught AS and A2 level Biology for many years too. I have taught pupils of all abilities and pupils with specific learning needs. I have also tutored GCSE, A level and undergraduates on a one-to-one basis.

Before becoming a teacher, I was a scientist working in Oxford (where I did my PhD) and Nottingham Universities where I also taught undergraduates.

Tutoring Approach:

I will discuss your needs first of all and find out how I can help. We will assess where your strengths and weaknesses are and formulate a plan for your studies.

You will be tutored in our education centre where I have revision quizzes on computer, resources and notes to work through to build your own notes. I also like to use lots of past papers to help you improve your exam technique as well as work on your subject knowledge.

I will set homework and you need to set aside time during the week to back up the work we do in tutoring sessions. I can help you improve but the only person who can sit your exams is you so you need to be determined that you will do your best.

I hope you feel that I can help - please get in touch!

Personal Description:
Hello there, this is Clair here, I`m 24 and am currently undertaking a chemical research PHD in the field of materials chemistry at UCL. I graduated from my undergraduate Chemistry degree at UCL and prior to this I lived in Portsmouth having moved there from Malaysia when I was 13. This coming September I am in line to be secretary of the Chemical and Physical Society, UCL's oldest society.

Aside from Chemistry I am also like running, taking photographs, going to see art, films, music and learning more about the world around me e.g. economics, politics and sociology.

Teaching Experience:

In recent years I have been in junior schools working with children during their science practicals. I have also had regular work tutoring one to one and small groups of KS3-GCSE students and have also been called in to help particular A-level/BTEC science classes. At university I mentor to undergraduate students.

Tutoring Approach:

During our tutoring session we'll do the normal thing of going through past papers but also work hard at actual understanding of the concepts. With me you will be able to understand and enjoy complex scientific and mathematical ideas and consequently get the grades you want and deserve. Hopefully we can work together to make this happen.

Personal Description:
I am an A* achiever, who studied at the King's School and at Hills Road Sixth Form, Cambridge. I have a passion for Mathematics and a lot of experience with Sciences also.
I love to teach Maths and Sciences in my free time and I spend a lot of time preparing lessons and materials to help the learner. I have a vast bank of resources and aids for all age groups which I have made and collected through my experience.
I went to King's School, Ely and I went to Hills Road Sixth Form College, where I studied Maths, French and German with Grades of A*AA.

I have a great interest in Maths and I can teach it to a high standard. I have many skills and techniques in maths which make learning it interesting, easy and most importantly, fun!

I have also been a member of the Army Cadet Force and I have taught many lessons to both younger and older cadets. I can be a great leader and role model to every student.

I am fluent in English and German and can teach in both of these languages if necessary.

I am well prepared and I have all the equipment necessary to teach at my home address.

Teaching Experience:

I worked at Cottenham Village College in Cambridge as a Maths Intervention Tutor, where I taught over 30 students in small groups to help improve their levels.
I have privately taught Maths to over 20 GCSE students, 2 A-Level students 1 QTS student and 1 student the American GRE Test, all of which have exceeded their expectations and are 100% happy with the quality and price of the service I provided.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach people how I have been taught, and in a nice, friendly manner. I have been inspired by many of my teachers throughout my life and I feel that if you like a teacher, then you will like the subject. I am a very likeable person and I teach therefore in a friendly way and I make sure the learner fully understands how we arrive to the answer.

I have studied how people learn and to ensure the learner understands fully, I explain things in more than one way to suit the learning style because each person is individual and learns differently.
I show the learner a variety of different methods to obtain the correct answer and I have many great ways to help them remember things like formulae. I strive to make each lesson memorable to reinforce the knowledge.
I also provide a free workbook that we will write formalised notes in after each topic has been gone over to make sure the knowledge is being comprehended in all angles of learning.

On our first lesson we will look at a syllabus check-list and use a Traffic-Light System to find which areas need improving or working on.
Together, we will do many examples of each question, using different methods to make sure of full understanding.
I create my own lessons and materials and configure them to how the learner would best understand, using Anagrams, Mnemonics, Rhymes and Memorable Ideas and more, as well as the use of PowerPoints and Games.
One of the most important things we would do together nearer exam times would be to study the exam Past Papers, exam skills and exam techniques. Doing past papers is really vital to get used to the exam layout and how to achieve the maximum marks for each question.

I can teach all topics in Primary and Secondary Maths.
I can teach ALL units and ALL syllabuses in Maths GCSE. (Edexcel, AQA and OCR (and MEI))
I can teach Core 1, Core 2, Core 3, Core 4, Statistics 1 and Decision 1 in Maths A Level. (AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
I can teach all topics and areas of all 3 sciences and combined science.

Why choose me to tutor?
- I have taught over 50 students privately, and in a school.
- I have 100% great 5* feedback and reviews from all of my students.
- The price per hour reflects the QUALITY of my teaching and the results that my previous tutees have gained.
- It is an investment in YOUR (child's) education.
- I specialise in teaching Maths and Sciences.
- I put the time and effort into the lesson preparation and planning.
- I went to some of the best schools in the UK.
- I make learning FUN! Thus giving the learner the best CONFIDENCE in their studies.

I charge the stated amount per hour because I have a lot of experience and knowledge in the subjects, as well as a huge range of my own resources.
I have a 100% record of 5 Star Feedback, so it's QUALITY tutoring that you are paying for.

DISCOUNT available for teaching more than one student at one time (if of similar level/year):
2 Students = 1.5 x hourly rate (total) instead of 2x
3 Students = 2 x hourly rate (total) instead of 3x

AVAILABILITY:
My allocated slots for tutoring are 1.5 hours and I recommend this because from experience one hour doesn't seem enough to cover a whole topic in one lesson and more can be learnt cognitively.
2 hour slots may also be available on request. These would typically be evening classes from 630-830 or 7-9.
These are the current slots available:
Monday 4-530
Tuesday 4-530
Wednesday 4-530
Thursday 4-530 and 630-8
Friday 4-530 and 630-8
Saturday 4-530 and 630-8
Sunday Full
I prefer to have regular weekly sessions booked.
I only teach from my home address. However, with travelling fees I may consider travelling to the tutee.

Joe

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate with a first class degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Liverpool, with great enthusiasm for teaching others and encouraging those who need help with Science subjects. I achieved good A Level and GCSE Science grades, and am fascinated by all Science, particularly Biology. I am friendly, approachable and hard working, and am also more than willing to give advice on personal statements, UCAS forms and interview technique.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst at school I helped to tutor younger pupils, which I found extremely rewarding and interesting. At university, I completed placements in a secondary school and taught primary students about different aspects of Science. I have also participated in training to teach local school children about HIV and AIDS. I have just returned from six weeks in Uganda, where I taught English, Maths and Science in a local, very poor, primary school, which I found to be an incredible and rewarding experience.

Tutoring Approach:

I am familiar with the way GCSEs and A Levels are examined, and understand how a personal tutor can make a massive difference. My approach is friendly and informal, but should enhance the pupil's interest in a subject, as well as their knowledge and ability to answer exam style questions well. I will ensure that a pupil thoroughly understands a certain topic before moving onto something more complicated.

The general approach should, I feel, be dictated by the tutee, and I am flexible in how I approach the tutoring depending on what the individual requires.

Personal Description:
I am a well-educated graduate who has previously tutored Flute, Mathematics and Science.

I have also previously supported disabled students with their studies - so please do not hesitate to contact me if this is causing you worry.

Due to the need to get to know a student and their requirements, I do not charge for the first hour of my time - although this is for 'fact-finding' and not a tuition session as such.

If this is your first time hiring a private tutor and you would like more information, or have any other questions please send me a message through this service and I will happily respond by email, usually within 2-3 days.

Teaching Experience:

I have over a decade's experience teaching all subjects at primary level in addition to Mathematics and Sciences to A-Level.

I also have previous experience teaching mathematics and science from early years (5yrs old) to Secondary age and beyond including tutoring for both GCSE and A-Level examinations.

I am also first-aid trained by Wallace Cameron (First Aid at Work) and have a post-graduate leadership qualification.

Tutoring Approach:

I work under the assumption that all children and adults have the ability to succeed, and have high expectations of them. Having said this I am fully aware that a great many people have difficulty with some subjects, especially mathematics. I aim to remove the fear or maths, and instill understanding rather than teaching by rote. If you are unsure as to what your child/children would benefit from learning I am quite happy to assess them against the National Curriculum and dependent on the total number of hours you wish to book, I do not normally charge for this.

Please note that although parents are always quite welcome to stay for any session, this is not always productive as it can make some children nervous - although for flute tuition it is recommended that a parent/guardian stay for the first lesson, as this lesson includes teaching a child how to stand with the instrument, if the parent is aware of the correct position they can help their child at home and greatly speed learning. If a lesson is occurring at my home I do of course have tea/coffee facilities and somewhere you can wait for your children!

I am willing to travel to your home for lessons if this is easier for you, although an extra charge may apply to cover my time and expense although we will of course agree this prior to undertaking the session.

An hour long session to discuss your needs and talk about what you want to get out of private tutoring is offered free of charge to new students.

Personal Description:
I have had much help from tutors throughout my academic life so I can understand the value that is offered to a tutee by receiving extra tuition in this way. I am currently studying a Ph.D in Medical Science at Aberdeen University and studied my undergraduate degree here also gaining a 2.1 in my honours degree in Biomedical Science (physiology). The hours spent doing work towards my doctorate is fairly flexible and I have a car meaning my ability to fit around the schedule of others is very good. I consider myself outgoing, patient and very reliable.

Teaching Experience:

I was Biology prefect in my final year at school which involved helping to teach classes up until fourth year. I also carried out some work experience teaching primary school children PE and as part of my Ph.D I will be demonstrating for and tutoring first and second year undergraduates at the university. I have also had vast one on one tutoring experience from 13+ maths and science to standard grade/intermediate physics to advanced higher/A-level Biology and Chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring will be engaging, challenging and above all I will strive to create an environment which makes the tutee want to push him/herself. The result will be that the tutee will enjoy doing learning and the progress and benefits will start to become apparent. It was through this style of teaching/ tutoring that I found my strengths in academia and ultimately successes, therefore I wish to pass this confidence in learning on.

Personal Description:
At present, I work as a Learning Support Assistant at the Hackney community College.
I enjoy supporting the students in my care on a one to one basis to realise their set targets as prescribed in their in their Individual Educational Plans. This I achieve by focusing on small improvements in skills learned day to day and planning around these gains to achieve further goals. Working in small groups or on one to one basis with students allows me to effectively communicate with my learners and help meet their needs. I use Makaton for emphasis and allow as much time as time as my students need to respond. This has reduced feelings of anxiety when responding to questions in some students. Also working one-to-one with students has enabled me build a trusting professional relationship with students in my care that allows them to feel secure and free to interact and share information or take a lead in communication or in exploring a learning task.
Providing one to one support places me in a key position to re emphases things that the teacher just said and to model good behaviour.
I am amongst the first to notice or hear any new vocabulary adopted by the students I support.
Most recently, I have had as a paraeducator to support students with severe to mild learning disability and autism use the i-pad as a learning and communicative tool. It was a pleasure to see the smiles on the faces of the students when they touch their way through options on the screen that grossly empowered my students to express their thoughts and wishes. A myriad of possibilities open up daily to the learners through engaging with the i-pad or when I am supporting them on field trips. It has been awesome to be part of generating meaning and the mastery of real Life Skills for the disabled by making learning fun.
In supporting students to build a portfolio on the 'Topic All About me'; I found my role in merely mediating and facilitating learning most enjoyable rather than dictating somehow what is to be learnt. In using this pupil centered strategy while my learners were active participants eg. deciding what or whom to photographs and accepting or rejecting facts presented them. Students were empowered and motivated to learn. They are therefore eager to come to school.
Using the Proloquotogo application say, non-verbal students were able to give voice to their thoughts by just tapping on icon eg :I want to go out; I want a drink; by choosing from options. I have noticed that students who were at a symbol stage were after a term beginning to recognise frequently used text.
I enjoy providing one to one support because give me a lot of responsibility and personal satisfaction to have been of help to others.
A lot of my time is currently spent at college to safeguard learners one to one and helping students choose from given closed options. Clear communication one to one basis has led to a reduction in challenging behavior and related incidents.
Working one to one with autistic individuals has given me a cutting edge insight into the world of autism and this has enhanced my understanding and communication with all people and improved my teaching as a whole.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching has fascinated me ever since I was posted to teach at Hohoe E.P Secondary as an unqualified teacher on leaving College in 1989.This was my National service. At the time, the school had a large student population with few teachers. On arrival at post, I immediately set to work on innovatively teaching Mathematics and Science with a pupil centred approach to the first year group. This produced independent learners who were able to make good progress through independent study and so produced good exams results and became useful citizens.
My interest in formal teaching started when; I enrolled at the University of Cape Coast to sharpen the teaching methodologies handed down to me by my own tutors. I explored the use of many other teaching strategies by the end of my study. At Deks Preparatory School, I fine tuned the use of student centred strategies that produced very confident learners by exploring students' entry behavior and building on the previous knowledge of students. I encouraged active participation of learners in the teaching-learning process using a lot of hands on activities. This created opportunities for students to change or modify their views. This led to greater understandings and built the confidence of my pupils. These learners went further to apply knowledge gained to differing situations and became great achievers and successful people in the community later in life. I use feedback from learners and my colleagues to make valuable changes that improve my teaching.
Prior to my employment at the Brooks Special School as a Special Needs, Teaching Assistant, I was an accomplished support worker with a good understanding of autism syndrome disorder. This enabled me expertly support the learning of children with severe learning disability and autism, who may exhibit challenging behaviour. On a 1:1 basis I supported the Class teacher interpret the National curriculum in a creative manner using Jolly Phonics, Makaton sign language for emphasis as well as fun and humour. Learners responded positively to instruction by daily doing their routines of work; they maintained longer eye contact and participated in the social and academic processes of the school. I kept pupils with a short attention span on their work by using a 'Now' and 'Next' card to refocus learners on the task with persuasion and time outs when necessary. Learners achieved most of the targets stipulated in their individual Education plans. I have learned to plan the daily activities of learners in such a manner that all daily activities including circle time activities were geared towards realising a set goal of the individual learner.
I supported my Class teacher ensure the welfare of the Pupils by providing expert support to pupils who have epilepsy attacks and with administration of medication. I made sure the learning environment was safe and removed any objects with which pupils may cause harm; and never leaving pupils unsupervised. This resulted in less incidents and happy pupils. Further, on a daily basis, I supported the teacher to provide parents and stakeholders with information on the learners, this kept all aware and supporting the events that affect the pupils. Parents felt respected and involved in the matters of their children. This enabled them share information with the teacher which helped me as a Teaching assistant provide an enabling person centred support which increased the self worth of the learners due to greater independence.
At Aggrey Memorial, I made science relevant to my students by pointing out the life applications of the concepts under study. I also used local examples wherever possible. I used outings and field trips to augment the class activities and laboratory work. This made the study of Sciences enjoyable for the students. I am therefore skilled at engaging my students with the Natural world and so generating in them interest and excitement in Science as well as an awareness of the environment. This led to more students opting to do Science. I am accomplished at planning well in advance with stakeholders and requisitioning materials that I would need in good time. I ensured safety in the laboratory by testing out apparatus to ensure its working and to determine how long an activity would take. Also, I prepared pupils in advance with tutorials before any laboratory activity. I crafted my own test Items that were valid and reliable when required.
At Aggrey Memorial I had responsibility for a Final Year Mixed Class of boys and girls. I met them once a year to provide guidance and counselling services. Topics discussed were topics put forward by the students such as work in the community after school and understanding puberty and where to get help when bullied or having difficulty studying.
There has often arisen the need to provide personal care particularly for wheel chair users. Having received training for this with Creative Support in the use of hoisting equipment, I routinely support students with personal care needs in a safe manner that takes the privacy and other preferences of the individual into account this empowered the students to study in dignity and with enjoyment. Parents are also happy to find out that the learning environment is not only stimulating for work but also clean.

I am continually learning skills of boosting pupils' self esteem, confidence and independence. This has been achieved by relating new learning tasks to previous knowledge of the children. In supporting teaching, I simplify communication by the use of PECS and frequent repetition of words and short phrases rather than long sentences .The use of a variety of approaches to reach out to pupils has effectively helped diffuse many problematic situations and protected children from undue stress or harm. In this respect, I have used fun and humour to de-escalate pupils or gain the attention of learners as much as the use of physical intervention strategies. I have helped pupils who have difficulty communicating their needs make their choices known. This was achieved by the provision of choices or alternatives or time-outs for reflection. This I found has improved behaviour as children demanded choice and engaged in sharing with support rather than opting to fight or cry in desperation. My experiences at the Hackney Community School have enriched my insights into strategies of inclusion and integration of pupils with Special educational Needs SEN in mainstream schools. In addition to English, I speak and write German and a Ghanaian language.

I learn new tasks quickly and love to teach. I value working in an environment where integrity, inspiration, inclusion, innovation and involvement count. Having read my Master in Business Administration, wealth creation and stimulating learners to create ideas for new business innovation inspired by Science is foremost in my mind and makes me unique. I would be happy to engage students in discussions about small scale enterprise development. I look forward to taking on some extracurricular responsibilities as well as pastoral duties that may involve student behaviour management and providing guidance and counselling to students on Health and Safety and being Happy. I am passionate about student project work using the Scientific Method. Being a fit sportsman I can coach a football team. Also, I will bring hard work and perseverance to bear in working as a tutor.
St. Augustine's College, alma mater, is a Boarding school; I can therefore empathise and understand student life and needs in such a setting. I would therefore be promoting the good health, the safety and wellbeing of all students. I have an eye of unearthing hidden capabilities in my learners and preparing them with skills for life and work after school.

Tutoring Approach:

I adopt a student centered approach to teaching. This implies what the student has to say or already knows is important! This gives me a foundation to build on.
I probe learners previous knowledge extensively and plan further learning around these. I use testing , hands on work and activities to determine the understanding or level at which my students are performing. I endeavor to make the learning experience fun for the learner and enjoyable; working from the known and familiar facts to the unknown.
Whenever possible, I employ a Constructivist methodology of teaching to enable my learners apply knowledge to different facts ie. solving problems independently.
I use discussions widely and in my class the pupil is King.

Personal Description:
I'm a recent graduate from University College London studying BEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering and I am aiming to start an MSc in Power Systems Engineering in the next year. I have always had a great fondness of maths and the sciences and have based my study choices on that fondness. I developed my love of these subjects while studying at a private school (Bancroft's School) in Woodford Green where I also partook in the large range of extracurricular activities (incl. sports teams, drama and Combined Cadet Force). It is these activities that, I feel, have given me the ability to work efficiently and improved my interpersonal skills. At university, I have also been part of the hockey society and where I captained a team and was part of the overall committee. My general passion of maths and science is one of which I hope to share with most I meet.

Teaching Experience:

I have had several years experience tutoring, most have been while I was at school, where I taught my colleagues through out the years. My name was then passed on to their parents who employed me to teach younger siblings and to their family friends.
During my senior years in the CCF, it was required that the younger years would need to be taught the relevant materials. These were generally classes of about 15 teenagers and lessons occurring each week and tests of my own devising to be given at the end of the term.

Tutoring Approach:

I personally believe that the key to retaining knowledge is to fully grasp the concepts and being able to relate the idea to a real life situation. In one on one tutoring it is ideal to gain a positive rapport between student and teacher where openness will allow for direct targeting of areas of difficulty. When issues are raised, they can be tackled accordingly to help alleviate any doubt and increase overall confidence. An amicable relationship must be maintained so as to keep the student happy and smiling. I believe if you are in a good mood and at ease it will be much easier to learn. Finally, PRACTISE, PRACTISE, PRACTISE. Once the concepts have been learnt, the more you go over examples, the more familiar you are with it. My hope is that the student starts to dream about the solution to questions!

Personal Description:
I am a young girl, still a student myself making it easier to engage with my students. It is proven that by being engaged, students learn more which is why I make a fabulous tutor.

Teaching Experience:

I have teaching experience through my peers, by helping them learn. I also help younger children (primary school age and 13/14 year olds) to complete their work giving me experience with kids.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very relaxed, patient yet flowing and efficient approach to tutoring. No parts of the syllabus is missed out but students feel like they want to do it not that they have to.
