Personal Description:
I'm a 30 year old Newly Qualified Teacher, having completed a PGCE at Manchester Metropolitan University's Institute of Education. I am currently a class teacher at a large Primary School in Newport. As a science specialist, I am more than happy to help secondary school children struggling in the subject despite my primary school background. I have also gained both a degree and masters degree in Media Production and am able to assist undergrads, Btec and A'Level students with media studies.

Teaching Experience:

After Graduating from University, I lead a semester of seminars at the University of Sunderland in Media Studies and Video production as a visiting lecturer before engaging my first industry contract. Since then i have been building up my knowledge base in the practical world of TV.

I spent the 18 months working in North West Primary schools, providing English and Maths support to children between the ages of 6 and 16. Since then I have worked in 3 primary schools as a class teacher in years 4 and 6.

After a 6 months of supply teaching in South Wales, I was appointed class teacher at a primary school in Newport for the 2011-12 academic year.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to approach tutoring on a purely individual basis. No student is the same. Learning should be something we enjoy not a chore. As a result I like to engage the pupil by making the work relative to them. This allows them to appreciate the task at hand and engage in it rather than trying to avoid 'extra work'.

Personal Description:
Over the last ten years I have lived and worked in three foreign countries: USA, France and then most recently Japan. I started my first business when I was 21 at university, it was a small nightclub photography enterprise with just two staff. My early success gave me a passion for business, and have earned my living as an entrepreneur since. I now spend half of my working week on growing my graduation gown company: Gowns For Students, the other half I teach.

I have made a lifetime commitment to learning, and every month I typically get through 6-8 books, half in paper format and the other half by audio-book in my travelling time. My usual areas of study are psychology (which was my degree subject), philosophy, biographies and anything related to self growth. A brief mention of any of the aforementioned subjects will quickly generate much animation and enthusiasm on my part!

Aside from business and learning, I am a regular attendee of our local gym, and you can often see me running in the mornings along Dovercourt Bay. Me and Megan (my girlfriend) spend half our weekends visiting England's great country halls, Ickworth near Bury is our favourite.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring across the Essex / Suffolk boarder since 2010. My youngest student was 5 years old learning basic literacy, and my oldest was a mature student in her 40's requiring help with her psychology degree. I've coached several students through the 11+ exam, and helped many more with their more mainstream SATs GCSEs and A-Levels. Most of my students are taught after school, although I teach a few home school children during the day. Before tutoring, I taught in a school for one year in Niigata, Japan.

Tutoring Approach:

After several years tutoring, I've learned that before a teacher can impart effective knowledge to a student a great rapport must first be created. Once this is achieved, knowledge flows almost without effort. Ironically, the biggest boundary I've had to teaching is wearing down the formal student / teacher relationship that is methodically built in schools. To other tutors looking to be successful in their craft I would say first - 'learn to be an outstanding friend to your students!'

Your children must have outstanding role models. Every second one interacts with a young person they are watching and copying every gesture, and mirroring your thoughts. Becoming an outstanding role model does not begin and end over an hour long lesson, it is in every action one takes day and night, from excellent diet, to a great fitness regime, to demonstrating success in ones projects outside of tutoring. Of critical importance to me, is a lifelong commitment to learning, and I am always happy to share the broader lessons this decade long commitment has brought me.

I pride myself on being able to impart knowledge much faster than other teachers. I feel the many testimonials I have collected, which I am very happy to share, support this. With any new business relationship one takes on a risk, until the new partner is better known one can never be sure if they are the right person to work with. I would like to take that risk on to my own shoulders by providing the first lesson free. My excellent service will make my bond.

Personal Description:
I recently graduated from university after studying for a degree in Music (Bmus). My course at Royal Holloway, University of London saw me undertake both the theoretical and vocational study of a broad range of Classical and popular music idioms. I take a keen interest in a wide range of subjects, particularly Music, Drama and English, which I have also covered thoroughly at A-level, with consistently high attainment. I thoroughly enjoy teaching both children and adults and look forward to expanding my student base.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst completing my undergraduate studies, I tutored a numbered of other university students and members of the local community, including children. I am confident in my ability to teach to a wide age range and have been particularly complimented on my ability to explain ideas succinctly to children. I feel that the knowledge that I have obtained from studying Music and other subjects from a multitude of different perspectives has strongly informed my teaching style and attitude. I feel that my broad theoretical knowledge enables me to explain things in a clear and understandable manner. Any additional knowledge enables the student to engage more fully in the lesson, and find the experience much more enjoyable and interesting.

Tutoring Approach:

I strongly believe that a student should be encouraged to highlight their own weaknesses, and identify solutions with help from their tutor. I also aim to asses a student's progress on a week-by-week basis and to cater to their academic needs accordingly. A light-hearted and fun approach to the lesson is always needed when teaching children; I feel that children especially learn much better when encouraged to find the subject matter enjoyable and stimulating.

Personal Description:
I am in my third year of math at degree level. With such a variety of teaching I have done I can adapt to different students quite easily. I also know what it is like to not understand a subject so can be very supportive. I love math, and enjoy teaching others.

Teaching Experience:

My passion is teaching, currently I volunteer in King Edwards Camp Hill School for Girls, which I have been doing for over 2 years. So here I do a mixture of small group work up to whole class teaching. I also tutor many students privately. Many parents have been giving me really positive feedback as they have heard from teachers that their child has shown improvements, all my students do look forward to my lessons as I tailor the lesson to their age and the intensity of the course they are doing.

Tutoring Approach:

I let the student choose which areas they wish to cover, and make sure they know everything they should. Wherever possible I make the subject fun and include 'fun' activities, as well as being able to give exam advice and lots of exam practice. I have taught most exam boards.

Personal Description:
I have a BSc MSc and PhD (organic chemistry). I am studying for my PGCE (subject specialism:Physics) as from September this year. I am also CRB checked. Teaching undegraduates and postgraduates has been part of my routine. I have also worked as a secondary school teacher abroad for three years teaching science and chemistry up to A-Levels and therefore I have a good knowledge of the current syllabi used. Although I have been actively involved in research, I am passionate about teaching science to the young and have hence been involved in a lot of outreach activities (clarifying NMR, visible Spectroscopy, Mass Spectroscopy, ect) at the UEA. I am bilingual (French) and also like to teach this beautiful language to students.

Teaching Experience:

3 Years teaching experience in general science at GCSE / A Level
8 Years underraduate / postgraduate supervision at University level
Currently studying for my PGCE

Tutoring Approach:

One on one teaching is certainly different from classroom teaching and I like to use this opportunity to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a particular student. Each of my sessions are planned thoroughly with appropriate activities and teaching resources. Having sound basics for me is important for students to progress further and I therefore like to brush up on them from time to time depending on the needs of the particular student.

Personal Description:
Hello, I live in Rainham and have three children and one grandchild. I also have 2 dogs who I enjoy walking. I like to work in my garden growing vegetables and roses.

Teaching Experience:

I have 10 years teaching experience in the primary sector, (years three to six) and am currently working part-time in a secondary school teaching GCSE English and key stage 3 maths. I have been teaching there for the three years now.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is fairly traditional but creative, I assess new pupils current levels, then plan the next steps with them. I engage my pupils at all levels of their learning as I believe this encourages them to be learners. I praise and encourage my pupils for excellent work. however if a pupils struggles to understand a concept, I will find a way to explain the task so that my pupils does understand and can achieve, which in turn enables them to make progress. I set homework to consolidate what has been taught.
My pupils constantly make considerable progress; as their subject knowledge improves so their confidence grows.

Personal Description:
I am a motivated person, well organised and good with time keeping.
I enjoy working with children and young people, helping them achieve to the best of their ability and much more.

I am able to create a stimulating learning environment for my tutees. I am also able to work well with anyone and working with parents to enhance their child's learning. I believe that the key to a successful future is education therefore i work hard with my tutees to help them achieve their goals.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked with children of different ages and abilities. Working with children has helped me to develop as a tutor. This had made me realise the different abilities each child is at, how to use the correct learning technique and how to approach different kinds of work based on the subject.

For me it is important to ensure i am aware of how each individual child learns, as every child is unique and different from one another therefore their way of learning will also be different.

Tutoring Approach:

Finding out learning styles, test papers to find out level of learning so i can enhance learning and knowledge further from that point.

Personal Description:
I am a well-educated graduate who has previously tutored Flute, Mathematics and Science.

I have also previously supported disabled students with their studies - so please do not hesitate to contact me if this is causing you worry.

Due to the need to get to know a student and their requirements, I do not charge for the first hour of my time - although this is for 'fact-finding' and not a tuition session as such.

If this is your first time hiring a private tutor and you would like more information, or have any other questions please send me a message through this service and I will happily respond by email, usually within 2-3 days.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously taught flute up to grade 3, assisted university students with study tools along with general life skills in addition to experience tutoring for GCSE and A-Level examinations.

I also have previous experience teaching mathematics and science from early years (5yrs old) to Secondary age and beyond including tutoring for both GCSE and A-Level examinations.

I am also first-aid trained by Wallace Cameron (First Aid at Work) and have a post-graduate leadership qualification.

Tutoring Approach:

I work under the assumption that all children and adults have the ability to succeed, and have high expectations of them. Having said this I am fully aware that a great many people have difficulty with some subjects, especially mathematics. I aim to remove the fear or maths, and instill understanding rather than teaching by rote. If you are unsure as to what your child/children would benefit from learning I am quite happy to assess them against the National Curriculum and dependent on the total number of hours you wish to book, I do not normally charge for this.

Please note that although parents are always quite welcome to stay for any session, this is not always productive as it can make some children nervous - although for flute tuition it is recommended that a parent/guardian stay for the first lesson, as this lesson includes teaching a child how to stand with the instrument, if the parent is aware of the correct position they can help their child at home and greatly speed learning. If a lesson is occurring at my home I do of course have tea/coffee facilities and somewhere you can wait for your children!

I am willing to travel to your home for lessons if this is easier for you, although an extra charge may apply to cover my time and expense although we will of course agree this prior to undertaking the session.

An hour long session to discuss your needs and talk about what you want to get out of private tutoring is offered free of charge to new students.

Personal Description:
At present, I work as a Learning Support Assistant at the Hackney community College.
I enjoy supporting the students in my care on a one to one basis to realise their set targets as prescribed in their in their Individual Educational Plans. This I achieve by focusing on small improvements in skills learned day to day and planning around these gains to achieve further goals. Working in small groups or on one to one basis with students allows me to effectively communicate with my learners and help meet their needs. I use Makaton for emphasis and allow as much time as time as my students need to respond. This has reduced feelings of anxiety when responding to questions in some students. Also working one-to-one with students has enabled me build a trusting professional relationship with students in my care that allows them to feel secure and free to interact and share information or take a lead in communication or in exploring a learning task.
Providing one to one support places me in a key position to re emphases things that the teacher just said and to model good behaviour.
I am amongst the first to notice or hear any new vocabulary adopted by the students I support.
Most recently, I have had as a paraeducator to support students with severe to mild learning disability and autism use the i-pad as a learning and communicative tool. It was a pleasure to see the smiles on the faces of the students when they touch their way through options on the screen that grossly empowered my students to express their thoughts and wishes. A myriad of possibilities open up daily to the learners through engaging with the i-pad or when I am supporting them on field trips. It has been awesome to be part of generating meaning and the mastery of real Life Skills for the disabled by making learning fun.
In supporting students to build a portfolio on the 'Topic All About me'; I found my role in merely mediating and facilitating learning most enjoyable rather than dictating somehow what is to be learnt. In using this pupil centered strategy while my learners were active participants eg. deciding what or whom to photographs and accepting or rejecting facts presented them. Students were empowered and motivated to learn. They are therefore eager to come to school.
Using the Proloquotogo application say, non-verbal students were able to give voice to their thoughts by just tapping on icon eg :I want to go out; I want a drink; by choosing from options. I have noticed that students who were at a symbol stage were after a term beginning to recognise frequently used text.
I enjoy providing one to one support because give me a lot of responsibility and personal satisfaction to have been of help to others.
A lot of my time is currently spent at college to safeguard learners one to one and helping students choose from given closed options. Clear communication one to one basis has led to a reduction in challenging behavior and related incidents.
Working one to one with autistic individuals has given me a cutting edge insight into the world of autism and this has enhanced my understanding and communication with all people and improved my teaching as a whole.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching has fascinated me ever since I was posted to teach at Hohoe E.P Secondary as an unqualified teacher on leaving College in 1989.This was my National service. At the time, the school had a large student population with few teachers. On arrival at post, I immediately set to work on innovatively teaching Mathematics and Science with a pupil centred approach to the first year group. This produced independent learners who were able to make good progress through independent study and so produced good exams results and became useful citizens.
My interest in formal teaching started when; I enrolled at the University of Cape Coast to sharpen the teaching methodologies handed down to me by my own tutors. I explored the use of many other teaching strategies by the end of my study. At Deks Preparatory School, I fine tuned the use of student centred strategies that produced very confident learners by exploring students' entry behavior and building on the previous knowledge of students. I encouraged active participation of learners in the teaching-learning process using a lot of hands on activities. This created opportunities for students to change or modify their views. This led to greater understandings and built the confidence of my pupils. These learners went further to apply knowledge gained to differing situations and became great achievers and successful people in the community later in life. I use feedback from learners and my colleagues to make valuable changes that improve my teaching.
Prior to my employment at the Brooks Special School as a Special Needs, Teaching Assistant, I was an accomplished support worker with a good understanding of autism syndrome disorder. This enabled me expertly support the learning of children with severe learning disability and autism, who may exhibit challenging behaviour. On a 1:1 basis I supported the Class teacher interpret the National curriculum in a creative manner using Jolly Phonics, Makaton sign language for emphasis as well as fun and humour. Learners responded positively to instruction by daily doing their routines of work; they maintained longer eye contact and participated in the social and academic processes of the school. I kept pupils with a short attention span on their work by using a 'Now' and 'Next' card to refocus learners on the task with persuasion and time outs when necessary. Learners achieved most of the targets stipulated in their individual Education plans. I have learned to plan the daily activities of learners in such a manner that all daily activities including circle time activities were geared towards realising a set goal of the individual learner.
I supported my Class teacher ensure the welfare of the Pupils by providing expert support to pupils who have epilepsy attacks and with administration of medication. I made sure the learning environment was safe and removed any objects with which pupils may cause harm; and never leaving pupils unsupervised. This resulted in less incidents and happy pupils. Further, on a daily basis, I supported the teacher to provide parents and stakeholders with information on the learners, this kept all aware and supporting the events that affect the pupils. Parents felt respected and involved in the matters of their children. This enabled them share information with the teacher which helped me as a Teaching assistant provide an enabling person centred support which increased the self worth of the learners due to greater independence.
At Aggrey Memorial, I made science relevant to my students by pointing out the life applications of the concepts under study. I also used local examples wherever possible. I used outings and field trips to augment the class activities and laboratory work. This made the study of Sciences enjoyable for the students. I am therefore skilled at engaging my students with the Natural world and so generating in them interest and excitement in Science as well as an awareness of the environment. This led to more students opting to do Science. I am accomplished at planning well in advance with stakeholders and requisitioning materials that I would need in good time. I ensured safety in the laboratory by testing out apparatus to ensure its working and to determine how long an activity would take. Also, I prepared pupils in advance with tutorials before any laboratory activity. I crafted my own test Items that were valid and reliable when required.
At Aggrey Memorial I had responsibility for a Final Year Mixed Class of boys and girls. I met them once a year to provide guidance and counselling services. Topics discussed were topics put forward by the students such as work in the community after school and understanding puberty and where to get help when bullied or having difficulty studying.
There has often arisen the need to provide personal care particularly for wheel chair users. Having received training for this with Creative Support in the use of hoisting equipment, I routinely support students with personal care needs in a safe manner that takes the privacy and other preferences of the individual into account this empowered the students to study in dignity and with enjoyment. Parents are also happy to find out that the learning environment is not only stimulating for work but also clean.

I am continually learning skills of boosting pupils' self esteem, confidence and independence. This has been achieved by relating new learning tasks to previous knowledge of the children. In supporting teaching, I simplify communication by the use of PECS and frequent repetition of words and short phrases rather than long sentences .The use of a variety of approaches to reach out to pupils has effectively helped diffuse many problematic situations and protected children from undue stress or harm. In this respect, I have used fun and humour to de-escalate pupils or gain the attention of learners as much as the use of physical intervention strategies. I have helped pupils who have difficulty communicating their needs make their choices known. This was achieved by the provision of choices or alternatives or time-outs for reflection. This I found has improved behaviour as children demanded choice and engaged in sharing with support rather than opting to fight or cry in desperation. My experiences at the Hackney Community School have enriched my insights into strategies of inclusion and integration of pupils with Special educational Needs SEN in mainstream schools. In addition to English, I speak and write German and a Ghanaian language.

I learn new tasks quickly and love to teach. I value working in an environment where integrity, inspiration, inclusion, innovation and involvement count. Having read my Master in Business Administration, wealth creation and stimulating learners to create ideas for new business innovation inspired by Science is foremost in my mind and makes me unique. I would be happy to engage students in discussions about small scale enterprise development. I look forward to taking on some extracurricular responsibilities as well as pastoral duties that may involve student behaviour management and providing guidance and counselling to students on Health and Safety and being Happy. I am passionate about student project work using the Scientific Method. Being a fit sportsman I can coach a football team. Also, I will bring hard work and perseverance to bear in working as a tutor.
St. Augustine's College, alma mater, is a Boarding school; I can therefore empathise and understand student life and needs in such a setting. I would therefore be promoting the good health, the safety and wellbeing of all students. I have an eye of unearthing hidden capabilities in my learners and preparing them with skills for life and work after school.
ADIGBO ANTHONY E.K

Tutoring Approach:

I adopt a student centered approach to teaching. This implies what the student has to say or already knows is important! This gives me a foundation to build on.
I probe learners previous knowledge extensively and plan further learning around these. I use testing , hands on work and activities to determine the understanding or level at which my students are performing. I endeavor to make the learning experience fun for the learner and enjoyable; working from the known and familiar facts to the unknown.
Whenever possible, I employ a Constructivist methodology of teaching to enable my learners apply knowledge to different facts ie. solving problems independently.
I use discussions widely and in my class the pupil is King.

Tutoring Approach:

Building up the confidence is one of my main skills. I use a systematic and an organised approach to tutoring. I identify and evaluate the areas where the tutees find the most difficult and needs the most help. Then by a careful planning I help them to enhance their core understanding in order to achieve their potential. I use a combination of teaching methods and tools including one to one discussion (explaining/ question and answer), visual reinforcement (animation/ video images), example questions, mock tests/examines and homework. Furthermore, I assist the tutees in examination techniques and ability to solve challenging problems in exam environment. My approach in term of teaching is to make it as enjoyable as possible, not only very formal sessions. In my point of view the teaching experience should be in very friendly environment, however the regulation must be applied.
