At the academic skills pre-sessional courses at the University of Birmingham in 2012-2016 I gained even deeper experience supporting individual students with writing within very constrained time-limits. I guided all to success at their final assessments. I have had very positive feedback and comments of appreciation.

I have taught in various set-ups - whole class, pair work, group work, or one-to-one sessions. I am deeply interested in each student's individual learning needs and progress and one of my major strengths is differentiation. I sometimes prepare material at 4 levels of differentiation for a single class or small group. I use supportive strategies to boost students' confidence, at the same time challenging learners to achieve beyond their own expectations. I approach intense 1-to-1 sessions with the appropriate dynamics.

I am prepared to go beyond my 'job description' duties to help students with 'special needs'. I am interested in their individual circumstances and take them into account, where appropriate. I prepare resources to address their personal needs and interests. I review their progress and involve them in self-assessment towards autonomy of learning. I am familiar with the 'Assessment for Learning' policy and competent with implementing it widely.

I have worked successfully with students with dyslexia. At secondary school, one of my 'high-ability' dyslexic students scored an 'A' grade at her English GCSE, while another participated in a poetry competition. I have had success teaching students with autism and Asperger's as well.

I invest all of myself in my teaching. I am a highly trusted professional and have an exceptional rapport with my students. I am often quoted as a preferred tutor, who 'has the best way of explaining things' and 'is very patient, friendly and cheerful'. All students of mine - regardless whether at school, college or university - progressed by at least one level (even at short-term courses). A student with a debilitating illness on the BME, predicted to fail the course, not only passed it under my guidance, but achieved grades higher than his required level. In my 15-year teaching career I have never failed a student. I have achieved outstanding results at OFSTED observations. My latest annual lesson observation at BMETC was graded 'OUTSTANDING' and so was my performance at NAVITAS earlier this year. Another observation at BCU was unofficially deemed as 'the best on the course'. I have been invited to share exceptional ideas at training events and have also participated in numerous training activities at schools, colleges and universities. I often opt to peer-observe colleagues, to learn from their teaching styles.

Some more examples from my practice: a class of illiterate Yemeni housewives at BMETC, 2011, achieved a 100% pass at their ESOL exams, while 'advanced' international students at the BME, 2012 achieved some of the highest grades on the course. I have been successful dealing with pupils with behavioural problems at Harborne Hill School. Many reported an increasingly positive attitude to learning. I am a creative teacher and try to interest and enthuse students, so that they enjoy learning and celebrate their achievements.

Tutoring Approach:

First I negotiate the times and modes of tutoring with the parents of my potential pupil and agree on fees.
Then I organise a free initial meeting with the pupil and their parents, where I try to establish raport with the pupil. It is important, especially for children, to 'get a feel' of the new tutor and see if they can feel comfortable with her.
Then I try to access as much information as possible from the parents and the child about their progress at school and their attitude to school. If possible, I wish to see samples of the child's school work, or hear anything teachers have said/written about their progress.
During the first lesson I conduct an informal assessment of the pupil's skills - give them a piece of text to read, or free writing or short composition, or a selection of Maths problems to solve. When I get a clear picture of where my pupil stands with a certain skill, I create a short-term plan of work with them. I normally bring materials with me and do not ask parents to buy additional materials. If the parent wishes me to follow a certain self- help book, I am happy to oblige.
I update parents regularly of their child's progress - I try to do it after every lesson. I normally leave homework, designed to consolidate the material covered in the lesson, or develop their skills further. I wish parents to be involved as much as possible with helping or monitoring the completion of the homework.
I try to show my pupils as much respect as possible and affirm them as individuals. I acknowledge their birthdays, Christmas, or other family celebrations.
The parents can terminate the service at any time, with only one week notice.

I can work:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday nights online as a guide rates of pay are 10 per hour minimum. Rates of pay are may be discussed on an individual basis. Student will need a computer using Windows and Internet Access to get started.

Tutoring Approach:

As a self taught casual computer program developer learning at my own pace has become very important. Computer programming is a very deep and broad subject. Under my guidance students can work at their own pace and challenge themselves as little or as much as they want. The good news is that a student can learn to write a computer application in a very short time and without four years of college. Students are not graded and no testing is required. More productive levels can be reached if the student has a good idea for a computer application. This idea could come from the work place or a hobby they may have.

I use my own screen captured videos and hand-outs to help students achieve what they want. Everyone has their own learning style some of us learn best by reading, others like to be shown and the rest of us want hands-on training.

I am not the foremost expert on anything, if I don't know the answer to a students question I simply tell them and help them find the answer.

Knowing how to write your own applications is just another feather in a cap for private instructors, business owners, B&B's, human resources, government, and book publishers. These are referred to as 'Vertical Markets' in the software industry (search 'wikipedia vertical markets'). Private computer owners are welcome.

I currently work for the Meath Epilepsy trust in Godalming where I teach as an observational and technical instructor for the mental health adult clients who live there. There I work closely with the students building up their personal portfolio in their art work consisting of painting, drawing, charcoal and pastel mark making equipment.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that teaching is about personal connection with your students and interacting with them on their level rather than simply 'getting the job done'. I can teach someone how to do something and for them to copy my influence is something, however to teach someone to do it themselves without aid takes time to practice over and over certain techniques. I think a student should be taught from the ground upwards and to slowly neglect bad habits from the past. The student then can become versatile and highly skilled and more importantly 'satisfied' with their work and practice.
I teach my students by constantly reminding them of basic principles of drawing/painting techniques and methods for which the student automatically revises their own work and own mistakes alone.

I teach a range of techniques in my art lessons such as palette knife, paint brush techniques and technical sketching methods. I also instruct with a diverse variety of mediums such as pastel, charcoal, ink, pencil and paint such as acrylic and oil.

My name is Cinzia, I am a freelance documentary photographer and photojournalist. I hold an MA in Documentary photography and photojournalism and a BA (hons) in Fine Art Painting.
As a photojournalist and documentary photographer, I often follow stories which expose issues of marginalization, oppression and violence. My work has been published in editorials nationally and internationally including by the BBC, The Huffington Post, Amnesty, Metro, Big Issue, New Internationalist, Vice, Oxford University, Royal National Theatre, Shelter, Save the Children UK, Justice and Peace Commission Hong Kong.

Teaching Experience:

Manage and deliver Photography Workshops.
I have written a core program on Creative Career Workshops and currently teaching and coaching young people in a secondary school in Portfolio Presentation, Photography Editing, Blogging, Photojournalism, CV and Pitching.
Delivered Photography Workshops in partnership with Protection Approaches.
I hold a Tutor Training Diploma (NOCN) Level 3.
Worked as a Photography Tutor for Point Blank.
Worked as an Art Tutor at Kite Studios, Londo

I am currently doing a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester. I also hold masters and bachelor level engineering degrees which gives me an in-depth knowledge of sciences and mathematics. Due to my qualifications I am also able to guide GCSE and A-Level students in their future university aspirations and endeavors.

Teaching Experience:

I have been preparing GCSE and A-Level students for their exams for the past 10 years. My subjects of expertise are Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I have been working with students having a range of abilities and have been successful in raising their potential beyond their expectations. I have also worked at a school as a mathematics teacher for GCSE students for a year.

Tutoring Approach:

I focus on presenting difficult concepts in a manner that makes it easy for the students to grasp and comprehend. Once the students have understood the underlying concepts it becomes straight forward for them to tackle difficult problems they may encounter in an exam. I also complement their understanding by challenging them with difficult problems and giving them insights about the best ways to tackle the questions in an exam setting.
