Personal Description:
I am an energetic and experienced English teacher and Assistant Head who strongly believes in building relationships with students that support their learning. I love travelling, literature (both classic and contemporary) and sports (especially football, rugby and cricket). Whatever level your daughter or son is at, I will make sure they progress to the next stage, whether that is excellent GCSE results, A Level results or entry to University.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently Assistant Head Teacher at Stoke College, near Sudbury, and have been teaching English for ten years. I have long experience in teaching and tutoring for students in Years 7-13, usually teaching AQA English Language and Literature GCSEs and OCR A Level. I have tutored students sitting different exam boards with great success, too. I began my teaching career at The Ashcombe School in Dorking, Surrey, before spending two years at Tiffin Girls' School, then the top ranked state school in the country, as Head of English. I have taught many students through to Oxford and Cambridge University entrance. I have taught Media Studies at A Level and my degree is Joint Honours History with English, so am always on hand to help with History or similar work.

Tutoring Approach:

I can give your child the support they need to build their confidence so they feel more able to complete school tasks, homework, coursework and exam revision. At exam level, I build on school work, revising techniques and consolidating the skills and topics learned so that students can reach their full potential in external exams. At the highest level, I will guide your son or daughter through textual annotations and literary study.

For students in Years 7-9, I have found it is often just as helpful to be able to assist and tutors in your son or daughter's full range of subjects, especially those that rely on written work, such as History, Geography and RE.

I bring an innovative and personalised approach to tutoring so your child never needs to feel that tutoring sessions are an extension of school; instead they are a way to look at English in a positive light so tutees can enjoy learning.

Personal Description:
My name is Chris. With a good academic background, and now with excellent feedback, my approach is to not only impart knowledge, but also attempt to generate a passion for a subject that will remain long after any examination success. Educated at King's Collage School, Wimbledon and a subsequent degree course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at King's College, London, I joined the BBC as a television recording engineer in 1976. I became a successful editor with the BBC and continue to enjoy the same role now on a freelance basis.
I am a good communicator, and seem to have the knack of explaining sometimes difficult concepts with clear and concise explanations. I have kept in touch with my core subjects (maths, physics and science) throughout my life and retain a keen interest in all of them. I'm not just a book-based dry academic but someone who knows how to fire enthusiasm for learning that will last long after any examination paper. My work has never been Mon-Fri 9-5, so I am available during the working day both in term time and school holidays.

Teaching Experience:

I have now been tutoring Maths for over two years which has generated good feedback and positive results from parents and students alike.
I think that is all that counts.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to impart my enthusiasm for the subject to my students. This is so much easier on a one to one basis compared with the classroom. A tutor will often cause the 'penny to drop', not by simply repeating a classroom lesson, but by offering a different explanation of a problem. Working in close contact with the syllabus, I quickly identify areas of weakness in the understanding of a subject, and repair that damage as quickly as possible. This is essential, especially in maths, as new concepts can rely so heavily on previous knowledge, which, if absent, will make comprehension of new material even more difficult. This is presumably why you are looking for a tutor in the first place. Homework, mock exam questions are essential, not only as feedback for me to know how successful any lesson has been, but also for you as a parent to see if any improvement has been achieved. A return for your investment if you like. Get in touch.

Personal Description:
I am Dimitrios and I am a freelance musician/teacher/producer. My main musical discipline is drumming but I also play guitar and have basic knowledge of keyboards. I also possess a high level of musical theory and I am an intermediate percussion player.

I am 25 years old and I currently reside in South-West London. I am Greek but the last three years I've been living in UK.

I have studied in the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, graduating with a Bachelor Degree under the excellent guidance of Pete Riley (Guthrie Govan) and Frank Tontoh ( Amy Winehouse, George Michael). With them I have studied and played a wide variety of contemporary musical styles (funk, jazz, pop, hip-hop, r'n'b, rock, latin etc)

I am very approachable, friendly and open minded and I love to share my knowledge on music and everything else around this subject. I can also provide advise on career questions, hardware and general consultation.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience begins back in Greece where I used to help my private tutor ease his workload. I used to handle beginners and very young children. I have also spend a year on teaching before I moved in England to study as a mean of preparing my self for the path of the Freelance Musician I was aiming for.

During my days in ACM, I also used to help fellow students on lower levels of the school to better prepare for their Bachelor Course.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach depends largely on two factors. The age of my student and his experience.

I usually prefer to take my students back to the very basics. In case of drumming, I like to check their very body stance, their movement, the general understanding of time and rhythm and even their breathing while focusing on the instrument.

In general I tend to make everything sound fun and easy and approachable and I insist on connecting all the knowledge into practical concepts so the student can better understand what he is actually learning and why.

Overall, I focus on fun and relaxations but through discipline and organized learning and understanding.

Personal Description:
I have been involved in martial arts for over 14 years now and enjoy the process of teaching others how to better protect themselves. In my current main job, I teach and train members of staff and provide workforce development for over 1000 staff members on a variety of topics. My second job is as a Kickboxing and Self Defence Instructor at the University of Sunderland, where I have worked for over 7 years.

My peers and tutors have told me that my mannerisms and personality lend itself well to instructing and teaching. I am patient, understanding and explain subjects in an accessible way. I genuinely get enjoyment out of teaching, especially that moment where a student suddenly 'gets it' and then starts to take leaps and bounds in the training.

I sincerely look forward to hearing from you and training you or your class to better protect themselves.

Weekday's would have to be organised at least 2 weeks in advance so I can secure a leave day to accommodate this training.

Teaching Experience:

- 1st Dan Black belt for ASMAA Freestyle
- 1st Dan Black belt for Kickboxing
- Level 1 Coaching qualification in Kickboxing and Self Defence
- Phase 3 in Jeet Kune Do, Kali and Silat
- Over 14 years in martial arts, 6 years teaching
- Trained Gold, Silver and Bronze winning Kickboxers at a national and local level
- Part of ASMAA (All-Styles Martial Arts Association)

Tutoring Approach:

A personalised, considerate and professional approach. I would speak to you to find out what needs that you have, for example if you encounter situations at work or in your personal life, and then train you in a bespoke, specific way to deal with those issues. If there are no specific issues you are looking to cover, then a general overview would be covered that is useful for all walks of life.

Every step of the way I will explain concepts, reinforce them with real-life examples and ensure that, in your mind, you have confidence in the techniques I will be teaching. You will then have the opportunity to train these techniques at your own pace, with detailed feedback and giving you opportunities to improve and praising good form.

All techniques can be 'pressure tested' to ensure that they will work under stress or imminent attack.

For those students that are younger, I have delivered sessions that gently guide students into the world of martial arts and about respect for one another. Fitness, games and good solid technique would be the backbone of any sessions delivered.

Personal Description:
Approachable, patient and thorough tutor with an outstanding feedback record stretching back to 2009. I am a part-qualified Chartered Accountant, working as a financial statement auditor at a Big Four Accountancy firm in London. My Father was a Mathematics teacher in London for nearly forty years, which is most likely where I get my boundless enthusiasm for these subjects from! I work very hard to make the delivery of subject material as clear, interesting and precise as possible. Rather than just spoon feed a formula, I go back to first principles and explain in simple terms why a particular piece of theory works and where it came from. However, I do not just talk constantly and let the student sit idle. Success in Maths, Accounting and Economics requires problem solving skills, so in order for the sessions to be beneficial I need the student to engage with me and to attempt questions (with my supervision) when they have enough accumulated knowledge to do so. I fully understand how stressful school/university can be and as such the sessions are not intended to be "just another school lesson", or to put vast amounts of pressure on students: the ultimate aim is to develop a strong working rapport whereby the student feels comfortable, secure and can feel a sense of achievement from their work.

*** Feedback testimonials from previous students/parents can be provided as far back as 2009.

*** I teach Sixth Term Examination Papers (STEP I, II and III) and AEA also ***

*** AVAILABLE TO TEACH IN SUMMER HOLIDAYS***

Teaching Experience:

I have eight years worth of private tuition experience teaching Mathematics, Accounting and Economics courses that begin at Key Stage 3 (Years 11-14), through GCSE, AS & A2 level to first and second year university courses in accounting, mathematics and economics. Whilst at university I also volunteered to take part in weekly workshops where students could come and ask questions in a relaxed, informal atmosphere about homework or problems that they simply were unable to make any headway with.

For those of you that are interested in becoming an Actuary or indeed would like some tuition for the exams set by the Institute of Actuaries, I am able to teach the following courses: CT1 - Financial Mathematics, CT3 - Probability and Mathematical Statistics, CT4 - Models, CT7 - Economics.

For those of you that are studying Accounting & Finance, I teach the following courses:

Financial Reporting
Financial Accounting
Taxation
Management/Cost Accounting
Corporate Finance
Business Law

I am well versed with the requirements of the major UK boards for ACA and CA, such as Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).

I also teach AAT (all Levels), ACCA and CIMA courses.

The above list is not exhaustive so if require assistance with another course please do not hesitate to contact me for more details.

Tutoring Approach:

During the first session I present a short questionnaire that I ask the student to fill in (honestly!) in order for me to assess their individual learning styles (right brain vs. left brain, use of visual stimuli etc), so that I can respond best to their needs. Every lesson will begin with an outline of the subject content and the intended aims. The key to success in maths and economics is to do it! With that in mind, the vast majority of lessons will entail methodically working through problems and exam style questions to ensure my students are as well prepared for their modules as possible. However, exam success isn't the only concern; I want to nurture and develop a genuine love for Mathematics and Economics; one that will encourage the students to read widely and explore new avenues of thought.

Personal Description:
Hello!

My name is Jessica and I offer private German tuition. Whether for your GCSEs, A levels or an upcoming holiday, I can help you improve your language skills in a friendly, informal environment. Though born in the UK, I have strong German roots as my mum is German and I was brought up bilingually. I have an A* in GCSE German, an A in A level German (before they did A* for A level!) and a first class joint honours degree in French and German with distinction in spoken German from the University of Nottingham. I lived in Berlin for three years after my first degree, and go to visit family in the Black Forest region a couple of times a year. I am currently training as a Speech and Language Therapist via De Montfort University, so know too well what it means to learn and study for exams. I am DBS checked

I look forward to hearing from you.

Teaching Experience:

I worked as a foreign language assistant in Trier, an English teacher in a Berlin Kindergarten and a Business English teacher in Paris, giving me valuable language teaching experience with children, adolescents and adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I absolutely love Germany, the German language and German grammar - hopefully that enthusiasm comes across in my lessons. I ask that students tell me in advance what they would like to achieve from my tutoring, and always ensure I prepare accordingly. When teaching I like to create a relaxed and informal atmosphere, and welcome feedback at any point.
