Personal Description:
With me as your tutor, not only do you receive a first-class education in a supportive environment, but you also get the benefit of my extensive experience and ongoing research.

Last year, I completed my funded PhD on Samuel Beckett and Theodor W. Adorno at Royal Holloway, University of London. I completed my Masters study in Literature and Philosophy in September 2012, graduating with Distinction, and received a First Class Honours BA in English from Royal Holloway in 2010. Between my Undergraduate and Masters study I worked for a year as an Editorial Assistant in the Health Sciences division of Hachette UK.

I also offer a proofreading service and online tuition.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a Visiting Lecturer at Royal Holloway since September 2014 and have taught on the courses 'Modernist Literature'; 'Reorienting the Novel'; 'Inventing the Novel'; 'Fundamental Questions in Philosophy'; and 'Special Author: Samuel Beckett'. I have received excellent student feedback, with over 95% of my students agreeing that the seminars significantly furthered their knowledge. A number of the students last year identified seminars as the aspect of the course that helped them increase their knowledge and skills, with comments including 'engaging and approachable' and 'very helpful essay feedback'.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that each student requires entirely different strategies for the optimum level of learning. It is important for them to be taught in a positive and open environment, where they are encouraged not only to develop academically, but also to enjoy the experience of learning.

Whilst I recognise the need to cram for exams in our education system, I still believe that excellent grades can be achieved without compromising original thought and extra-curricular study.

I also offer proof-reading services if you do not require face to face tuition but only some help on a particular piece of work.

Personal Description:
I am married with three children of secondary school age and live in the High Utley area of Keighley. My mum comes from Germany, and my frequent childhood trips to Germany fuelled my love of languages, leading me to study French and German at university. I have a wide range of interests, including sport, music, current affairs, reading and travel, which enables me to find areas of common interest with my tutees - this is particularly helpful at a more advanced linguistic level, when discussion and conversation play a greater role.

Teaching Experience:

I achieved a First Class Joint Honours degree in French and German from Nottingham University, where I spent the third year of my degree as an 'Assistante' in a school in St-Lô in northern France. I then completed a PGCE in Secondary German and French at Manchester Polytechnic. Since qualifying I have worked in secondary, primary and adult education, teaching all ages and levels, including GCSE and A-level. I have also tutored privately, again with a variety of age groups and levels.

Tutoring Approach:

I am enthusiastic, friendly and conscientious and believe that good relationships are at the heart of effective teaching and learning. My experience in different sectors of education means I have developed a wide range of teaching styles which can be adapted to the needs of each individual learner. Whilst every student is different and requires a tailored approach, I aim to create a relaxed and open atmosphere in which students are given encouragement at every stage and feel able to ask about anything they do not understand. I review with the tutee on an ongoing basis how they feel things are going and whether their needs are being met.

Personal Description:
I see myself as a passionate musician, always looking to expand my skills and knowledge and share them with other musicians both live, in studio and through lessons.
As you will note, I finished my BMus (Hons) back in 2012, specialized in electric guitar and I have also acquired three years of Music Production/Technology at Linköping University, Sweden. I hold a CRB check as well as a Child Protection and Health and Safety Certificate.

As a versatile individual, I have been taking part in different professional situations where I have applied my skills as a musician, live, in studio and through private teaching. These experiences have solidified my confidence and have given me the opportunity to express myself musically as well as instructing my students to pursue their musical journeys.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching privately students of ages 8 - 45, for the last 20 months. For my lessons I have created my own material combined with information gathered from other sources (books, dvd's, masterclasses) and I also have used different guitar syllabuses in some cases.

Tutoring Approach:

My goal as a teacher is to share my appreciation for music with students and fellow musicians, by teaching a range of topics including Techniques, Sight Reading, Ensemble Performance, Style Studies, Composition and Music Production. Besides introducing new concepts to the students, I am positive about creating a fun and relaxed environment but challenging at the same time.
I usually choose songs that from my point of view are suitable for the students and combine that with other topics like the ones mentioned above. I find it very important to create fun and captivating lessons with the emphasis on the student's growth in the most efficient way. For every lesson taught, I keep track of the student's progress making sure that the information is learned and applied in context before moving on to new material.

Personal Description:
My name is Danny and I am a PhD student in the Faculty of Engineering and Environment, Northumbria University. I have been receiving the scholarship from the university to do the research on micro mechanics and novel materials. Using a lot of engineering knowledge, I'm confident in encouraging young people going ahead with STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

Teaching Experience:

Going back to the time before my PhD course, being a tutor on Maths and Physics since I was an undergraduate student, I helped many GCSE students (i.e. KS2 and KS3) improve their grades. I'm now revising the combined sciences for some Year 11 students who're taking the exam soon. In addition, I got many experiences in lecturing in the university of Technology and Education (I worked as an assistant lecturer in 2010-2011, right after my graduation, and a lecturer in 2012-2014).

Tutoring Approach:

Various methods can be applied depending on each student, but the general approach is connecting all the lessons on the same topic to a common picture. To do that, I usually explain the relevant concepts visually and link them together. In addition, a variety of examples will be provided to clarify the lessons. Some advanced questions will be supplied to develop their knowledge.

Personal Description:
Hello,

My name is Mayan and I am a 3rd year Politics and International Relations undergraduate. I am a determined and ambitious student who is looking to tutor a young person who is struggling with their political studies.

I have always had a natural interest in national and international politics; it is ever-changing and I like to make sure I am up to date with what is happening in the world as it affects every single person!

Teaching Experience:

I have had teaching experience with children between the ages of 5 - 12 years teaching English and Maths. In 2012, I ran a debating society in my school where I coached 13-18 year olds debating and public speaking skills.

Tutoring Approach:

Firstly, I like to meet my student and understand what their course is all about as I understand from personal experience that depending on which board you are with, your exams and assignments will vary. Following this it is important for me to find out what exactly the student is struggling with; is it learning the content or exam study skills? Once we have established this, I like to take a structured approach to tutoring where both the student and I will agree on what we would like to achieve each week - whether it is how to make a great essay or learning a new political topic!

I like to motivate my students to love what they are studying and not to just do it for the sake of it. I hope that I can help you with not only the political content but in really enjoying the subject!

Where I teach: University of Southampton. This is because I truly believe that it is important to be in a quiet and focused room in a study environment! This is useful for both myself and the student to ensure the best grades.

I am very flexible so if there is anything that you require as a student or parent, please let me know!

Personal Description:
I am Dimitrios and I am a freelance musician/teacher/producer. My main musical discipline is drumming but I also play guitar and have basic knowledge of keyboards. I also possess a high level of musical theory and I am an intermediate percussion player.

I am 25 years old and I currently reside in South-West London. I am Greek but the last three years I've been living in UK.

I have studied in the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, graduating with a Bachelor Degree under the excellent guidance of Pete Riley (Guthrie Govan) and Frank Tontoh ( Amy Winehouse, George Michael). With them I have studied and played a wide variety of contemporary musical styles (funk, jazz, pop, hip-hop, r'n'b, rock, latin etc)

I am very approachable, friendly and open minded and I love to share my knowledge on music and everything else around this subject. I can also provide advise on career questions, hardware and general consultation.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience begins back in Greece where I used to help my private tutor ease his workload. I used to handle beginners and very young children. I have also spend a year on teaching before I moved in England to study as a mean of preparing my self for the path of the Freelance Musician I was aiming for.

During my days in ACM, I also used to help fellow students on lower levels of the school to better prepare for their Bachelor Course.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach depends largely on two factors. The age of my student and his experience.

I usually prefer to take my students back to the very basics. In case of drumming, I like to check their very body stance, their movement, the general understanding of time and rhythm and even their breathing while focusing on the instrument.

In general I tend to make everything sound fun and easy and approachable and I insist on connecting all the knowledge into practical concepts so the student can better understand what he is actually learning and why.

Overall, I focus on fun and relaxations but through discipline and organized learning and understanding.

Personal Description:
Currently, I am a Lecturer at London Metropolitan University in Chemistry (Bachelor level) and Visitor research scientist follow at The Open University. I am a PhD degree (Full-time study) holder in Chemistry from The Open University and Master's and Bachelor degrees in Chemistry from Bordeaux 1 University, France. I have been a tutor in Chemistry, Maths, Physics, French and Arabic with different agencies in London.
I am able to teach Chemistry for all level and Maths, Physics, French and Arabic for GCSE or National 3-5 and Secondary (11 to 14 years) students.

Teaching Experience:

I have taken every opportunity to develop my teaching skills while working at London Metropolitan University and The Open University. These include chemistry laboratory teaching, mentoring and training of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have also participated in various educational projects in other universities. For example, at the University of Bordeaux I, Science and Technology in France,

I strive to vary my teaching style to meet the learning needs of individual students. I have received high performance reviews for my ability to creatively make complex topics manageable. I am patient creative organized and
energetic.
Schools and universities focus on conveying a large amount of information to their students. But for most people that is not enough to create genuine understanding and an ability to answer exam questions. That is why many students, regardless of their ability, seek to get extra help from a private tutor.

My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students' personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don't lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students' homework for them!

I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student's understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis to some of the less obvious but vital skills such as essay structure and technique, logical thought, and the effective use of numbers and graphs.

I believe passionately in the huge value of tutoring to students and take great satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential.
