Privet! My name is Anastasia and I am an experienced tutor and teacher of the Russian language. I am originally from Moscow and have lived in the UK for over 15 years, during which time I have loved helping people to understand Russia and its culture by learning its rich and fascinating language.

I have taught people of all ages and abilities in a one-to-one setting. I have also taught Russian in classroom style at GCSE level in school. I have much experience in tailoring learning to the needs of individuals and in flexing my approach to suit particular styles.

I have an MA in Classical Philology and Russian Studies from the University of St Petersburg and am qualified to teach Russian, French, English and Latin. Since graduating in 1978 I have worked extensively in language teaching and translation / interpreting. I have also worked in France for 3 years and attended an interpreting school in Paris (ISIT - Institut Superieur d' Interpretation et de Traduction). Tutoring Approach:
I do my best to give the student a good grounding in grammar which is a key to understanding and fluency whatever the language. I encourage students to listen to radio programmes in the target language, watch newsreports on television etc as it is a great learning tool. I feel passionate about languages myself and find teaching highly enjoyable.

The first lesson is vital for understanding the student's needs and determine their ability. This is normally done by tests, speaking or engaging games - depending on age. Depending on the language level, I may suggest reading, watching films or listening to music to get the grips with understanding the language as well as some grammar exercises to consolidate the knowledge.
