I have always wanted to teach Mandarin because I think it is a fun language. I always enjoy describing to my friends (non-Chinese) how Chinese character evolve from symbols, pictures and etc. I love to share the Chinese language and culture with anyone who is interested in learning them. For those sitting Chinese exams, I have been through the A Level Chinese exam so I knew exactly how to tackle it. I have got high marks and I am sure you will achieve a good grade too.

Teaching Experience:
To be frank, I do not have any teaching experience in Mandarin. Mandarin is my native language. I have attended Chinese primary and secondary school, and I have studied Mandarin for 11 years. Although I am not qualified, I have confidence in my ability to teach Mandarin at beginner, intermediate and exam levels. To me, teaching is about passion and willingness. The relevant experience I have is to interpret Mandarin to English and vice versa when working as an interpreter.

Tutoring Approach:
I wish to teach children and primary and secondary levels. Adults are welcomed too. Whether you want to learn it for own interest or business level, I hope to do my best to help you learn. Mandarin is a very different language from English because it is not phonetic. You have to learn the characters by heart to enable you to read and write. Learning the character is very important if you want to read. It is quite demanding but I can make it fun. Learning the character by memorising is not the best way. I believe that one should understand the background to a character, eg. how it evolves from picture or symbol, before learning it. Once the student grasp the essence of Chinese character, the process of learning becomes easier. Of course, you can still speak it well without being able to read it. If you only require speaking, thats even easier and probably less troublesome!!

It was a full time position and included giving extra tuition for students (in their homes often) who needed preparation for Important exams (FCE, CAE).

Tutoring Approach:
Younger students should be kept alert and interested by changing activities more frequently, the target knowledge should be elicited from them rather than forced out. It is important to try and find something that they can relate to in the material. Adults should be consulted beforehand to see exactly what they want out of the class.

About Mohsan:
My Name is Mohsan Malik, I am currently studying Medicine at Kings College London school of Medicine.

I am a very enthusiastic person, and I do my work with the highest accuracy and precision.

I have many different hobbies and interests; football, cricket, formula one racing, and many more.

Teaching Experience:
Having younger siblings, I have mentored them during there key Examinations- the evidence is in their achievements.

Furthermore, During A-level, and as a senior medical student, I have helped other students in their examinations- by leading group teaching sessions.

Formally, I have helped children aged 10-11 in their Key Stage 2 SATs preparation.

Tutoring Approach:
I have worked with children of all ages, and understand the level of patience required.

I have a strong motto- Anyone can get an A!

From my childhood and life experiences, there has always been the smartest or the fastest pupil in the class. But, now, slightly wiser, I believe, anyone can do it- with the right attitude to work tailored to the tutee's strength and weakness- he/she can get their A in whatever exam they take.

About Laura:
I am a 24 year old qualified secondary school teacher living near Old Street in North London.

I am passionate about teaching and about giving young people the best start in life, and realise the importance of achieving well in school and in examinations for young people's future. I find it very rewarding to be able to help young people achieve their full potential and enjoy their studies through successful tutoring.

My interests are current affairs and the arts. I enjoy reading, visiting galleries and sites of cultural heritage and live music. I develop positive, caring relationships with the young people I teach.

Teaching Experience:
I have worked in two outstanding London secondary schools, as both an English teacher and special educational needs class teacher.

I have expertise and experience in working with students with ASD, ADHD, Downs syndrome and global learning delay. I have also successfully taken disaffected and lower achieving students through the AQA GCSE course with great success. I have had experience of working with gifted and talented students, and in supporting them in achieving A and A* grades. Working in London schools I have also taught and supported learning for students for whom English is a second language.

Before beginning my teaching career in the UK I worked as a voluntary English language teacher in India, where I worked to help students improve their conversational English skills and pronunciation.

Tutoring Approach:
Tutoring can be an incredible helpful tool in aiding students to achieve their academic goals, however, it has to be done well to be successful. As a qualified teacher I am aware of the different ways in which students learn and the difficulties they may face. When tutoring, the work and support I provide will be tailored to the needs of the individual, and will support them in gaining independence in achieving their own goals.
