Apart from love of science, the main reason why I enrolled into college the second time was to pursue the academic career and to become a professor. I am a young (24) but very experienced artist who specialises in drawing and painting. After selling my first drawing when I was just 9 years old, I have sold drawings, paintings and prints all over the world. I use a wide range of materials and media in my work from pen and ink through to charcoal, acrylic, and even digital photography. About Victoria:
I am a fully qualified teacher in my thirties, married with one child.

Becoming a private tutor has enabled me to spend more time with my son and also allows me to develop my passion for teaching and learning, which isn't always possible with a class of 30. Teaching one child, or a small group, I can really see significant progress, both in terms of their understanding and their confidence.

I offer maths and English tuition to all primary ages, as well as adult literacy tuition, including English as a foreign language.

Teaching Experience:
I taught for 3 years in a London primary school, covering Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. During this time I taught many children with special needs, behavioural difficulties and who have English as a second language.

I am fully up-to-date with the National Curriculum, current teaching practices and schemes of work used in primary schools.

I also have ESOL qualifications and experience teaching English to foreign-language adults.

Tutoring Approach:
An initial assessment is carried out and I then develop an individual programme to move the child forward.

I have access to a wide range of resources and use a variety of teaching methods to make learning enjoyable, interactive and meaningful.

Parents have often positively commented on my caring and encouraging approach to teaching.

Small group tuition is also available; it can sometimes be beneficial to have a friend to work with.

About Mira:
I have recently graduated from my second degree and am now looking to further my teaching experience with some intention to return to academia. I come from London though my parents are Arabic and I enjoy the diversity this offers me. I am passionate about philosophy and literature, reading and writing. Tutoring Approach:
I think the most important thing for any student to be able to do is ask questions. I make it a point to instill courage and confidence in my tutees because in my opinion these are the building blocks of learning, in any subject.

My sessions tend to be relaxed and informal, though I aim to cover much ground per tutorial. The intensity of study can be decided by the student according to his or her needs, experience and age.

Above all I think learning should be fun and liberating. From my experience both as a student and tutor I think I make an able, friendly and enthusiastic tutor.

Tutoring Approach:
When tutoring a student who is taking classes as well as being tutored, I prefer to use their primary course as a starting off point for the lesson, but to take the themes and delve more deeply and provide more opportunity to practice. When tutoring an individual not affiliated with a program, I prefer to work with the student to devise the type of course that suits them, with a focus based on what they intend to use their language skills for.
