Personal Description:
Hello, I am a lecturer, writer and tutor based in Bristol. I enjoy working with students from many backgrounds and countries.
I currently work part-time in two Universities, and have been teaching for nearly ten years. I can help you revise for exams, with assignments and dissertations.
I like tutoring as I get to speak to interesting people who face a variety of academic challenges. In the past I have helped people online and over the phone, through Skype and face to face meetings.
Drop me a line and let's discuss what kind of help I can give.
Teaching Experience:
Before teaching I worked in publishing and journalism. I have written a book called 'How to work as a freelance journalist' and I used to manage a magazine so also have lots of practical business experience too.
I teach journalism, business and employability. Mostly tutees I meet want help with specific things such as revising for exams or completing a difficult assignment. Often it is a case of working together to help improve your grades and reach deadlines.
I have taught students from all over the world including China, Malaysia and Qatar. I enjoy meeting new people and am keen to make sure that you get what you want from tutoring.
I am currently studying for a Diploma in CPLHE (Certificate in Professional Learning and Higher Education).
Tutoring Approach:
Through this site I have worked with students to complete assignments, dissertation proposals, catch up on missed work, or understand academic ideas that they were struggling with.
I have also worked with many students via email and telephone. This means that you can tackle a little bit at a time, and save yourself money.
Please email first to see if I can help, I don't believe in taking anyone's money if I can't help, so please feel free to drop me a line.

Personal Description:
I'm an English teacher who also loves to learn. For fun I like to dress up as a Tudor and take part in Living History events. I also very much like to take my slightly dopey dog to the beach where I regularly need to prevent her swimming to France!
Teaching Experience:
My first experience of teaching was through home-educating my daughter from when she was 6 through to GSCE-level. I then went on to do a PGCE in Lifelong Learning (post-16 education) during which time I taught a range of business and tourism modules. Since completing my PGCE I have completed short-term contracts teaching English as a Foreign Language. Presently, I work part-time as an enabler for physically and/ or mentally disabled students in higher education and part-time as a private tutor.I have experience tutoring adult learners, home-educated students (i.e. delivery of full syllabus) and students who are at school but need additional subject help, for example with exam preparation. I currently teach English as a foreign language at a school in Cardiff.
Tutoring Approach:
I understand how important it is to have a supportive and patient teacher who is willing to answer any question any number of times until the student 'gets it' and that's what I am always prepared to do. I think learning should be fun and relevant to our lives and endeavour to carry this over into lessons. The exact approach would always depend on the needs and wishes of the student.

Personal Description:
I am a Modern Foreign Languages teacher and am incredibly diligent, organised and devoted to promoting a love of language learning as well as a desire to ensure GCSE students achieve their very best in exams.
As a teacher and AQA examiner, I have access to past papers as well as having built up a wide range of teaching resources with which to teach. I am associated with a school wherein Edexcel and AQA are the examining body for Modern Foreign Languages although this does not hinder me as a prospective tutor for those studying under WJEC or alternative examining bodies. I have also tutored students sitting the I-GCSE with outstanding success rate. I believe my skillset, experience in teaching it and association with the examination board makes me a sound investment for any student wishing for the extra support as they approach the final months of their GCSE.
As an avid believer that when on holiday, one should speak in the "language of the locals", I am passionate about providing holiday conversational skills to adults.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching Modern Foreign Languages since 2012 to GCSE and have been head of department in that time. Within my teaching practice, I have had experience of teaching across all levels and abilities from the 11-18 age range in secondary school.
Tutoring Approach:
My tutoring sessions are individually tailored based on the need of the tutee. For GCSE students, sessions usually focus on the key skills of language learning which are listening, reading, speaking and writing, whereas for adult learners, more emphasis is placed on the spoken language and listening comprehension.
My sessions aim to engage, interact and interest the learner as much as possible. Above all, I feel it important to instil confidence in the learner.

Personal Description:
I have been working as an independent tutor for 16 years. I have an honours degree in English Literature from the University of Stirling and have almost 30 years of experience in publishing and journalism. In the tutoring sphere, this enables me to work creatively, quickly and sharply and to a deadline, which is often necessary.
Teaching Experience:
I have 16 years' experience working as an English tutor. During that time, I have achieved great satisfaction in improving the performances and results of numerous tutees. The vast majority of my tutees at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher obtain an A in their examination, even those who find English difficult or a challenge. Others achieve a B or a C but are happy with this as it is the result they required.
Approximately 85 per cent of my tutees achieved an A in recent years. The remainder over-achieved to attain a B, with which they were delighted.
Tutoring Approach:
My intention is to make the tutee feel relaxed and that with practice they will gain the confidence to tackle all aspects of English. I tailor the tutorials to their personality and their aptitude.

My name is Oladipo. I am a results-driven professional with a solid academic background and a deep-seated passion for education and mentorship. I completed a degree in electrical engineering at a leading UK University, and I also studied Medicine at the University of Buckingham. My diverse educational journey has provided me with a unique, multidisciplinary perspective on learning.
I love studying, and this love for studying has made me want to give back in the form of teaching. Currently, I serve as a Community Council Member (School Governor) for a Co-op Academy, where I am committed to promoting high standards of achievement and well-being for pupils. This role, combined with my experience as an Engineering Engagement Mentor for the Royal Academy of Engineering, allows me to bring professional-grade coaching and leadership development to my tutoring sessions.
I am enthusiastic about teaching and dedicated to supporting the next generation of learners. Whether it is foundational reading and writing or complex technical subjects, my students achieve their desired grades. I have tutored university students to achieve high scores, leveraging my technical proficiencies in analytical tools and engineering software to make complex concepts accessible.
With a background that spans high-level engineering at National Grid, medical studies, and community governance, I offer a structured, innovative, and highly effective approach to tutoring.

Community Governance: As a Community Council Member (School Governor), I actively contribute to the strategic leadership and educational standards of a local academy, ensuring high achievement for all pupils.
I am enthusiastic about teaching and dedicated to helping students bridge the gap between complex theories and real-world applications. Whether you are looking for support in primary reading and writing or advanced science and engineering modules, I provide a structured and supportive environment to help you succeed.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching philosophy is centred on bridging the gap between complex academic theories and practical, real-world applications. Having navigated rigorous programs in both Electrical Engineering and Medicine, I understand that every student learns differently, and I tailor my methods to meet those individual needs.
How I Support My Students:
Conceptual Clarity: I help students understand the subject area that I will be teaching by breaking down intricate topics-whether in advanced sciences or primary literacy-into manageable, logical steps.
Skill Development: Beyond just subject knowledge, I assist with learning skills, such as structured planning, analytical thinking, and effective communication.
Mentorship-Driven: Drawing from my experience as an Engineering Engagement Mentor, I use a coaching-based approach to build a resilient mindset and academic confidence in my students.
Adaptive Delivery: I leverage my technical proficiency with Digital & Analytical Tools to provide high-quality instruction. I can tutor in person or via video, ensuring a seamless experience regardless of the format.
Student-Centric Scheduling: I understand the pressures of a busy academic calendar, which is why I am flexible with times of teaching to ensure support is available when it is needed most.

Personal Description:
I had been a full time native Japanese teacher/lecturer in the UK between 2006 and 2018 after completing MA in Japanese Applied Linguistics at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) in 2006. I have become a professional private teacher for individuals and companies as I realised my passion is to support those students who are keen on improving Japanese through private tuitions. I have established an academy of Japanese Studies since 2015.
Teaching Experience:
My cooperate training contracts
- SONY (2016-present)
- Tokyo Esque (2017-present)
- Deloitte (2017-2018)
- Bank of Tokyo - Mitsubishi UFJ (2017-2018)
- Ashurst (2016)
- Polar Capital (2015-2016)
- British Museum (2015)
In the past, I taught the Japanese language to
-> the students of BA in Japanese at SOAS (2011 & 2014-2018),
-> the general public, university students and business people at King`s College London (2009-2017),
-> the UK diplomats at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2013 - 2016),
-> the president and the top managers at Dentsu Aegis Network (2013 - 2014),
-> the students of BA in Japanese at the University of Sheffield (2006 - 2009).
Tutoring Approach:
My passion for language teaching is to contribute to the society where people need more global minded attitudes and mutual understanding. I will help you understand Japanese culture from the native perspective. By absorbing the Japanese mind set, you will begin to perceive, process, and express yourself in an authentic Japanese way. In the lessons (including online lessons), we will explore the speech and body language of native Japanese speakers - this will increase your awareness of the feelings that lie behind Japanese expressions. By following this approach, you will use a more appropriate grammatical structure and word usage, allowing you to speak Japanese more naturally.

Personal Description:
I am currently on a gap year where I would be at University if not for covid. I have passions for music, martial arts and maths (so long as it starts with an M, it's probably good). I think that this year has been a nightmare for students and teachers alike and I would love to lend my experience to help out with any students struggling, so I have decided to take on online tutoring work during this year.
Teaching Experience:
I have not done paid tutoring work before (though the offer has arisen). Mostly I have taught friends and locals or explained what I'm studying to unwitting bystanders at church or school.
Tutoring Approach:
I think it's most important that the student understands the essence of the subject and can think critically about it, and I like to discuss this with students until we can apply this understanding to the syllabus and the exam to come such that anything they've learned before or will learn on that topic will make sense. If the content is difficult for the student I can explain from a number of angles, including visual methods such as the Desmos graphing calculator.

Tutoring Approach:
I am a very organised and structured teacher which fits perfectly with my subject. My aim when tutoring is constant progression with an end goal for my tutees. I will provide all resources tailored to my tutee which will ensure success. I will also ensure that exam techniques and answering structures for the exam board are mastered before all major exams (e.g GCSE/A Levels). I have a very kind and holistic method of teaching, however, I do set high standards for all of my students and tutees which again are tailored to their current situation and end goal.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Imi, and I am in my 5th year of Dentistry at the University of Bristol. I am looking to tutor in Chemistry and Biology up to A-level and below, having taken Chemistry, Biology and Economics at A-level myself and achieved 3 A*'s. In addition to this, I also completed my Extended Project Qualification based on dentistry, drawing on my scientific background, in which I achieved an A*. At GCSE level, I achieved all 9's and took all 3 sciences, Maths, English, German, Geography, Religious Studies and Latin.
Teaching Experience:
At secondary school, I was a Peer Mentor for 2 GCSE students in Biology and Chemistry. We met weekly in the build up to their exams and went over topics they struggled with and I brought some of my own materials along to test their knowledge after we had discussed their mistakes. I learnt a great deal about different teaching styles from both students and how to be adaptable when the topic of discussion changed quickly. Additionally, for 2 years every week, I volunteered to teach disabled children how to swim at my local pool. This was a wonderful experience and developed my communication skills immensely as I had to cater to a wide range of disabilities. Therefore, I believe I am very patient and flexible with my approach to teaching.
Tutoring Approach:
I feel passionately about making all of my tutoring sessions interactive, enjoyable and targeted to the individual student. I endeavour to make all of my tutees feel relaxed with me from the start, so that there's a comfortable environment, where they know that all their questions are valid and can be asked without judgement. I believe it is important to frequently recap content in order to identify areas of weakness in my tutee's knowledge and I plan to do this with recap quizzes/discussions at the beginning of each session. Personally, I also greatly benefitted from making up mnemonics and sketching diagrams when covering challenging content and so I would aim to do this with my tutee too. However, I would see what mix of methods work best for each student.
