Tutoring Approach:
I understand that each student is different and has individual requirements. I first arrange to meet the pupil (and their family where appropriate) face-to-face and on a no-fee basis to discuss the requirements and identify the subject areas they are finding the most difficult. If we both agree to start personal tuition, we then work through the relevant syllabus and I simplify and explain the areas of difficulty using examples and visual aids. I try to build up the confidence of the pupil as much as I can, as I see this as a crucial aspect. I also set homework if this is desired by the pupil and family, including set exam questions relevant to the syllabus.

During my years at university gaining my BSc (Hons) I taught beginners to play stringed instruments including the violin and guitar and aided them in music theory. During my working career I was employed by the National Society for Epilepsy, where I aided adults with learning disabilities and brain damage with their day to day lives, also helping them with any day-release college work or activities they may have been given. I have also assisted with many university dissertations; the layout, grammer, spelling and oxford referencing systems.

I am a fourth year student at Imperial College London university studying medicine. I enjoy playing sports to compliment my academic life and helping others in all activities that I am involved in.

Teaching Experience:
Have informally taught Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics to fellow students to A-Level standard throughout my academic career. Am also part of a scheme in the university to help the younger medics learn and cope with the immense workload that a medical degree involves! Being a student myself, it was not very long ago I was doing GCSE's and A-Levels and so totally understand how to go about tackling a subject and making sure one is as confident as one can be walking into an exam. Have been tutoring for 1 year now and boosted several student's GCSE and A-Level grades earlier this year.

Tutoring Approach:
Before we begin working together, I firstly get an idea of the particular areas the tutee feels they need to work on and is worried about. I believe it's important to understand key concepts when tackling a subject and so will get an idea of where the tutee is having problems and get them on the right track to improving and getting a top grade. I am great at talking to children and teenagers and try to make lessons fun and involving! Closer to exam time, I make sure to go through the marking scheme and ensure the tutee has an extensive yet realistic revision plan.

I am currently the Access to Higher Education Science Co-ordinator at Sussex Downs College in Eastbourne. My job involves taking adults with no formal qualifications and preparing them for entry into science degree courses at university. I have taught GCSE and advanced level science courses, on a one to one basis, in the past for a number of private colleges with very good success.

Tutoring Approach:
In order to be successful i think tutoring needs to provide interesting practical experiences. I teach science and believe that science learning benefits from practical hands on experiences. It is important for the learner to have the opportunity to explore the theory.
