About Je Parle Le Francais ltd:
FRENCH TUTORING WITH A DIFFERENCE

2 years experience in Teaching French
Based in London and frequently travelling to France mainly for business purposes.
I am self employed in England but volunteer in France, very organised and have built with the help of my French colleagues our own method, based on our experiences with teaching French, which is accessible on a very friendly website.

Lessons can take place at your home or at my Ilford's (essex) office for more privacy. (desktops, blackboard, telephone equipment for simulations.

My tuitions are very sharp and professionnal.
I teach 6 days a week :
- Weekdays : 5pm -> 10pm ( Late lessons)
- Week ends : Saturday 9am -> 4pm

Teaching Experience:

FRENCH TUTORING WITH A DIFFERENCE

I teach French two times a months in France for a non profit organization I belong to, as a member of Administration. The public I teach to are kids, students and adults foreigners, and I help them having a better french. All my students are assessed then lessons are personalized accordingly.
I have been doing this since November 2006 as a volunteer tutor. This organization is Government funded ( The Council of Seine Saint Denis - Paris Suburb ) I do work closely with French local authorities.
I also have experience in driving seminars as Master of Conference ( Coaching - Self Confidence ) I combine French lessons and behavioural confidence as well as body language so my tutees gain quicker confidence along with learning french.

My approach is very intuitive, apart of the complete but very simple to integrate program, I use several tricks that we use for Foreigners and absolute non speakers and that are absolutely unbeatable.

Tutoring Approach:

FRENCH TUTORING WITH A DIFFERENCE

My character : I am a very empathic person, and am extremely patient. I currently have extremely shy tutees as well as very outgoing students. I have a very "picturesque" way to explain. Relevants examples or comparisons i use will make you remember your lessons forever.

My method : ALL Lessons, tests, and quizzes are also online, on my Across Education's website so you can practice at anytime. (audio listening, quizs and exercises included).

My Style : I define myself as a Coach rather than a professor. I want my lessons to be decontracted, fun but effective at the same time.

My availabilities : Some of my students are at School while some others are professionals and work until late. To content all my students i have chosen to offer an EARLY TO LATE availability (4Pm to 10 Pm)

I cover these fields
- GCSE, A - Level and other degrees
- French for business
- French for Property buying purposes
- French for future French citizenship
- French for Students

Lessons can take place at your home or at my Ilford's (essex) office for more privacy. (desktops, blackboard, telephone equipment for conversation simulations. Collective lessons can take place in my premises as well for up to 5 students in the Air conditioned Board Room.

About Katherine:
I graduated from Downing College, Cambridge University with a 2:1 in English in 2006. I then joined Ogilvy & Mather, the advertising agency, as a graduate trainee and have intermediate qualifications in brand management. Having decided to pursue a career in art law, I will be studying in London for the next two years.

During the next academic year I will be studying for the Graduate Diploma in Law at BPP Law School in Waterloo. I will be able to tutor in the evenings, weekends and one weekday per week (this is to be confirmed pending receipt of my lecture timetable).

My degree covered all aspects of the study of English Literature, and I also took a paper in French literature for two years. My degree touched on areas of history, philosophy and linguistics. I specialised in Shakespeare and literary theory. I am a cellist and would happily teach music theory, or indeed, practical cello lessons. I would also teach history, philosophy, and other arts subjects.

Teaching Experience:

In my gap year I had two novice cellists who I taught for six months, which I found to be a really fulfilling experience. Whilst at school I also ran the Junior Orchestra, teaching them the basics of practical musicianship both at a group and sometimes personal level. After my A Levels I also taught horse riding as part of my work as a Camp Counsellor at an American Summer camp.

Tutoring Approach:

I think my passion for my subject would come through as a tutor and I hope would inspire similar feelings in my students. My most memorable teachers are those who were most enthusiastic, and I'd relish the opportunity to pass on some of my interest in the arts subjects, particularly literature. My time at Cambridge helped me to come at intellectual problems from alternative angles, and I think I would be able to persuade those needing extra help to look at what is difficult in a different light and be able to sustain their interest in the subject.

From working in teams at Ogilvy to manage creative campaigns I have also found that patience, being a good listener and persistence are the best way to manage clients and work through problems. I also think these qualities would be advantageous when faced with a frustrated student.

About Jodi:
I am a young Biomolecular Research Scientist working for a Biotechnology company.

So how did I get here? Well, I studied Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at A-level in order to qualify for the Biochemistry and Genetics Honours Degree at Nottingham University.

Still enthused and determined I started a PhD, researching DNA repair proteins. This has led me to a job in the industrial sector as a research scientist.

However, I think at this point I must emphasis my interest in science as a whole and not just the small area that my work focuses on.

More importantly though, as a person I am friendly and approachable and always willing to help. I, myself, had some tutoring at school when I needed a nudge in the right direction. Consequently, I would enjoy passing on my knowledge and experiences of my subject, exam techniques and academic life to those who require it as those tutors did for me.

Teaching Experience:

During my PhD at the University of St Andrews I was heavily involved in demonstrating for the undergraduates (first year to final year students) in their laboratory practicals. This involved taking charge of a small group of students; helping them with any technical difficulties; or explaining and clarifying anything they did not understand. I was also responsible for ensuring that any set work was handed in and marked on time.

In addition to demonstrating, I tutored a first year undergraduate group. This involved fortnightly meetings and project updates. I had to supervise their Biology project, instigate group discussions and ensure they had everything in place for their final presentation.

I have also designed and implemented a work experience course targeted at school children (or anyone without the relevant background) visiting a research laboratory. I wrote and provided relevant handouts, I was always available to supervise the any practical work and always approachable for any questions.

My teaching experience extends to the classroom; I spent three weeks at a comprehensive school as a teaching assistant. I involved myself in the science lessons of all year groups helping the students where I could.

Tutoring Approach:

I take my role as a tutor very seriously since I know how important that extra help is for gaining a clear understanding of the subject, but also for building up self esteem and developing the confidence to apply what has been learnt. I feel that it is important to be able to adapt to the student and be able to explain things in numerous ways to ensure the point is understood.

Being able to explain something to others is a sign of understanding and understanding is the key to remembering. This is the main thing I have learnt during my education, I have been able to apply it throughout and it would be a lesson that I would pass on to others.

I am willing to spend time helping students in the hope that they may share in my enthusiasm for the subject.

About Joanne:
My name is Joanne I am a qualified actor and performer with a wide range of knowledge in the theatre arts, including teaching, media, recording, writing and producing in all performance fields. I am painter, with a great interest in acrylic abstract artwork.

Teaching Experience:

After completing my degree in Performance and Media art I worked for over a year as a SEN Teaching Assistant, assisting children aged 11-16 years on a one to one basis and in the classroom. The aim was to ensure all children of all capabilities had a good understanding and development of ICT, Literacy and Numeracy. I then spent some time working for an international pre-school company teaching parent and child activity classes for children aged 0-6 years of age. This involved writing lesson plans from designed programs and delivering them as 1 hour classes. I am now a Drama Supply teacher working in the South Yorkshire area on long term cover in secondary schools teaching children aged 11-16 years (key stages 3 and 4). This involves teaching drama classes with around 25 students in. To complete this to the best of my ability I write and research my own lesson plans to ensure that all children are getting as much as they can from there drama classes. I am also a Supply Drama Instructor for a Nation Wide Stage School teaching children aged 4-16 years, drama and performance classes. I have also taught in several Summer Schools both by local authorities and private companies.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that drama is a excellent tool to encourage children to be confident and outgoing and is a learning way through to adulthood.
I always encourage children to express themselves through the media of performance as it is a controlled environment.
I am firm but fair tutor, but my main focus is always on the student and what they need and wish to accomplish through their tutoring sessions.
I set acheivable goals for students based on their individual talents and limitations.

About Louise:
I love reading and learning new things everyday. Life is fun and full of opportunities, and I feel it is my job to help people discover this. Learning should be fun and rewarding, not full of fear of failing and struggles, so I have an informal approach and students find me down to earth.

Teaching Experience:

I have coached and trained for many years in a corporate environment, dealing with many different people and their different styles of learning.I have learnt to be adaptable and flexible with students to help them get the maximum out of our time together. I have tutored children who have attention problems, and adults who need to brush up on basic skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer an informal style, designed to get the best from my students. I will adapt material depending on your ability and the way in which you digest information. I like to make learning fun and I try to link information learnt to normal everyday situations to help students remember things. I work most effectively with people who struggle with the normal strict style of teaching adopted by most schools, and those who need help to concentrate.

About Catherine:
I am currently studying for a PhD in Engineering at University College London. I graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2004 with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Industrial Engineering & Information Systems. I then worked for approximately 18 months as an R&D Engineer for a medical device company before deciding to return to academia.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my Undergraduate Degree I have tutored students in Leaving Certificate (equivalent to A Level) maths, with excellent results. I have helped those who were failing maths to those wanting to make sure of an A grade.

In my final year of my Undergraduate Degree I worked as a tutor for Mathematics Department in my University. On completing my degree and working as an Engineer, I continued to tutor a number of Leaving Certificate and University students.

Since moving to London and beginning my PhD I have been employed by UCL to help with extra maths tuition to both 1st & 2nd year Engineering students.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to start out helping the student to grasp the basic concept of the topic being studied and to give practical examples of the topic. I believe that when the student has a good overall grasp of a topic the particular questions which are asked become much easier.

Once this groundwork has been laid I like to focus on exam style questions as these are ultimately what the student will have to be able do and practice builds confidence, which is all important in becoming a good at maths.

About helen:
I am a caring and patient teacher . I develop good relationships with my pupils and care about their general well being. I adapt work appropriatly to meet their needs and fit around their life.
I am also a parent of boys with SEN,(dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism and adhd) and have a good knowledge of special education needs and the impact of these on teaching, learning and home life.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 5 years in the primary age range and really enjoy it. I have been privatly tutoring a dyspraxic girl for over one year to help specifically with handwriting and concentration as well as mental maths skills. reference can be provided.

Tutoring Approach:

I treat each child as an individual taking into account both parents and the pupils views and needs. As a teacher I believe in providing teaching that caters for the individual and know the restrictions that teaching a whole class puts on this practice. I believe that every child has the right to an individual education tailored to their specific needs. Some may need extra work to extend them further others may need help of a more specific nature on basic skills or just catchin up. Through individual tuition I seek to find out what the individual needs are and, with parents and pupil, plan suitable help to reach their goals. I share objectives with parents and pupils and give regular feed back to both to reach those goals. I belive it is important for all to see progress is being made.
