Teaching Experience:
I am a beginner as a tutor (apart from classroom experience gained in my CELTA course). While my own children were at primary school, I did voluntary work as a learning assistant. This involved 'paired reading' on a one-to-one level with children and working with small groups in arts and crafts.

Tutoring Approach:
Unlike 'whole class' teaching in a school environment, I believe tutoring ought to be a golden opportunity for a tutor to discover and aid the tutee to discover his/her strengths and weaknesses and to build a lesson round that. The tutor should be able to let the tutee learn and gain confidence at his/her own pace, give support and help when needed but know when to stand back and let the tutee achieve. I believe individualised learning with different resources (traditional texts, pictures, projects) can be used depending on the tutee's needs and preferred methods of learning. Teaching Experience:
I have tutored several A-Level candidates in psychology. The first of these was a friend of the family; she recommended me to others, and my list of students quickly grew. However, this has only really been seasonal work outside of university termtime.

During my first two years at university I worked for a company called Learning Curve Ltd. This involved teaching university students with learning disabilities to use their specialist equipment.
This was part of a governmental initiative to encourage university applications.

Tutoring Approach:
Tutoring must be interactive. The student must learn actively rather than just sit and listen.
The tutor must be enthusiastic. If the student becomes passionate about the subject then learning will happen very naturally.
The subject must be made relevant to the student. If the student cannot see why it is important ot learn about something in particular, it will be a struggle.

Tutoring Approach:
I have been tutoring privately for over 5 years and my particular strengths are preparing students for examinations. I find pupils soon feel more confident about their own ability and realise that Mathematics is not as difficult as they once thought.
Examination technique and consolidation of past exam questions is a skill in itself and often learners need extra guidance on this which I enjoy providing.
As a am a full time teacher I am fully aware of the main syllabuses within the UK and what is expected of the pupils and I have access to all the necessary resources. I always provide students with all the materials that they need for the lesson and plenty of homework.

Tutoring Approach:
When I was at primary school, French was my least favourite subject. It was taught in a very academic and strict way.
In high school, it all changed as I had a teacher not only passionate about his job, but about the French language. He passed his passion on to me. I started to read much more and eventually decided to be a primary school teacher. That gave me the possibility to be a French teacher back in Brighton. When I started to teach French, that was it, I knew I had found my passion. And every time I am in front of a student, I am thrilled by the improvements they are making.
My passion brought me to teach French, here, in Britain as well as in Singapore. I always remember what it was like when I was a child to be bored in a French class and I make sure that my students not only learn, but have fun and practise as much as they can.
In my lesson, the more you speak French the better. I learnt English when living in the country and I believe it is the best way to learn the language. However, I am aware that in order to pass your exams, you need a foundation of grammar. Therefore, I balance things. Lots of talking during the class and some grammar to build on those foundation.

About Dayo:
I am a man and I was born in nigeria in december 1979, and I study in Nigeria right from my primary school level up to the polytechnic level where I study accounting as a course. And I proceed to the teaching line, I started by teaching the two main subjects for students who wish to do accounting as a course, i.e accounting and mathematics from may 2004 till march 2007 when I decided to come to the united kingdom to study for my ACCA Professional Qualification. And currently am writing the last part of the acca professional exams.

Teaching Experience:
I started my teaching career with one small lesson organised by one of my lecturer at the polytechnic when I was in the final year at the polytechnic, ibadan. When I graduated from the polytechnic, my friend (gbenga) and I organised our own private tutorial class for the secondary school students who is about to write their GCE Exams and those students who want to write their Jamb exams( joint admission matriculation board) until I decided to come to UK in march 2007

Tutoring Approach:
For the lower secondary level, I will start with them from the beginning in order to ensure that the foundation is okay and basis of the accounting and that mathematics is understood, then we will move forward from there. For GCE level, we will start from the beginning as well and move up to the GCE level. For a level students, I will like to broaden their thinking and make them see more than secondary school level and show them the techniques of passing the exams with no stress.

About Chloe:
I have been involved with Psychology for the last 17 years - since I started studying it at A level. I gained my degree in Psychology from Leeds University, and my PGCE teaching qualification from Huddersfield University.

I remain incredibly enthusiastic about this fantastic subject and am very successful in getting learners excited about understanding the concepts they encounter.

I am currently able to offer tutoring for GCSE, AS and A2 Psychology (AQA Specification A), including overviews and explanations of different areas such as key approaches, underlying topic areas, coursework and homework concerns. I can also provide specific focus on exam techniques and requirements, such as understanding assessment criteria, and including sample papers, answers, and feedback.

Teaching Experience:
I have 8 years teaching experience from GCSE to Degree level, and with learners from 16 years upwards. I have taught both in college and school classes.

I have taken part in a number of successful Ofsted inspections, most recently in 2006 when I achieved a Grade 2. In our 2007 internal observations I achieved a Grade 1.

Tutoring Approach:
The key to successful tutoring is to tailor it to the needs of the individual or group being tutored. Combining this with personal experience of knowing what it is like to need help and guidance with a subject (not Psychology in my case) and how good it feels to get that support, I aim to provide the learner with a genuine interest in the subject, whilst helping them to gain confidence in their own abilities.

After initial discussions with the learner I can plan a work scheme to suit, with overall goals as well as aims for each tutoring session, and reviews to ensure these are achieved, and meet the individual needs of the learner.

Tutoring sessions can be booked weekly, as a revision aid, as an intensive course over a few days, or as a private candidate for a full course. I can also provide 1-1 tutoring, or for a group if required.
